thank you, exactly what i am looking for. the autoupdate is very very annoying.
I tried this exactly as shown on 8 May 24 running MacOS 12.6 and it didn't work, so might be OS dependent. The app still auto launched on startup but instead with an error message. Resolved the problem by moving the app from /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0 to the Application folder (which actually copies it ), then deleting the app from MAU2.0 folder. User can then launch the app whenever desired and app no longer auto launches on startup.
Absolutely simple and super helpful. Fixed an annoying problem. Thanks!
Thanks a lot brother quick and easy solution !!!!!!!!

hi! i have a question. How do you reset the default settings on word 2021 for macos 14 (macbook air m1) ?
"We detected a problem with Microsoft AutoUpdate. To correct the issue, please install the latest update by clicking the OK button below"
THANKS FOR NOTHING
thx
very helpful
I found disabling or removing autoupdate makes it impossible to manually update any MS Office app. That should be expressed as a warning.
Hi, unfortunately this renders the Microsoft Update Application completely useless. When starting it manually, it comes up with an error that something is wrong and it offers to reinstall auto update. When I did, the files that were deleted were put back and everything worked again. Do really all three files need to be removed or maybe just one of them?
I have exactly the same problem. I tried it and run into the same situations. If I have a solution, I will let you know here. If you also find a solution before me, would be nice to let us know. Thanks in advance.
Same here
In the meantime Microsoft added some additional checks wether those files are still in-place in LaunchDaemons, LaunchAgents and PrivilegedHelperTools directory. A error message is even more annoying. As workaround you could completely remove MAU.
Please provide instructions dear
Hi there!
I've completed these steps, but autoupdate keeps popping up. Please advice
There's no Launchagents or launchdaemons in my library
Must have changed on the M2 MacBook's, I'm not finding it in the first 2 folders, and I don't have a privileged helper tools folder.
There is no file with that name in this folder :(
This works but now I keep getting a notice that there is a problem with autoupdater.
Perfect Video, All this Microsoft auto update and daemons running in the background just really frustrates me when trying to do actual work the computer, what a way to disrupt work. Looking forward to a world without Microsoft

You talk too fast, but it helped.
This is how you do it: Click on finder. click on "go". Click on "computer". Click on your computer icon. Click on "library". Click on "application support." Click on" Microsoft." Delete the file Maud2.
This video needs to me removed from RUclips.
works. thanks.
What’s bad about it before I do it?
thanks
Works perfectly. 👌🏻
Thanks, Neutron. This worked like a charm.
Are you aware that an ad for another video pops up well before you're finished blocking what you were showing behind it? Infuriating😡!! Not successful.
Thanks I moved it!
I'm a Hackintosh owner with Catalina. Man, were those stupid MS Office alerts that I need to "upgrade my OS" annoying. Solution? BLAST that stupid MS auto update app into the TRASH, along with its prefs!! GONE!!!
Thank you!
Thanks !
