I had a feeling this would be a film Mark would go easy on. It's a film so dumb you can't get mad at it. The action and affects are very well done and everything else is tongue in cheek. Plus I was glad to see Mr Eko from Lost finally getting a film role that is on that level of badassery.
I so agree with you. It was bloody fun. That's what I require from a movie. There are enough "good" movies out there that are boring as hell. Why not watch the occasional one that's stupid but really fun?
" I enjoyed it. It IS rubbish, but it's laughable rubbish. And it's more enjoyably laughable than another film out this week." Oh... such high praise! 😂
Event Horizon was brill, one of the few thriller movies that actually made me jump and not burst out laughing. First Resident Evil 1 was quite good too for a videogame adaptation IMO.
i loved it, it was like an irwin allen film but with a gigantic budget. more of this kind of escapist tosh please i am fed up of every bloody film having some kind of message shoe horned in or a load of naval gazing pillocks emoting and mumbling.
I think Mr. Eko, Kiefer Sutherland, and the volcano explosions were the best parts of the movie. Pompeii was less painful to watch than Robocop, but it wasn't exactly exciting either.
Even judging from those little clips. The editing looks horrible. And her saying "Sorry" instead of "My apologize" which would at least be more formal, so this is just sign of bad dialogue.
@@chasehedges6775yep, I don't blame the cast, its just not very well made or produced. I don't know why but they just made a bunch of horrible classical era movies in the 2010s like Clash of the Titans, Gods of Egpyt, The Legend of Hercules. The film wants to be Titanic, Romeo and Juliet, and Titanic in less than 2 hours. The greenscreen at the end was pretty funny, I don't think they had the budget to pull something like this off.
@@lw3646 Tbh, if I was a writer or director, what i would do to make a better movie is if it was centered on young farm boy(played by Art Parkinson) and farmer’s daughter(played by Isabella Sermon from Jurrassic World Fallen Kingdom) and they both live in Pompeii as childhood friends who’ve grown up together and are worried about something horrible happening. Do something like Threads(1984) and build up the tension and dread of the event that is to come.
If Mark thinks dumb Hellraiser knockoff in space, oh sorry, a dumb Alien knockoff, no sorry, Event Horizon, was very good film, there's no hope for humanity. "I've been waiting." *dumb sounding Sam Neil scream* "YOU LET ME BURN!" If Mark thinks this is good, who can we trust for movie reviews. Event Horizon is the worst piece of space horror trash I've ever seen. It's not subtle, it's not scary, it's Hellraiser in space...so what?
Mark sounds like C3PO, in Return Of The Jedi, telling the Ewoks what's going off.
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks Event Horizon is brill.
Its probably why I get annoyed at W.S Anderson. He can do better.
Love the Vesuvius impression 3:40!

I've read comments from people saying they were crying over the love story....😁
The worse good idea for a film I ever seen. With a budget of 100 million, they spent about a tenner for on script.
Like the Frankie Howerd reference at the beginning.
awesome exorcist tshirt

Jon Snow and Mr. Eko time travel through history.
You know nothing jon snoeoeoeoeoeow
Meoeeooeww?
Only Mark Kermode could make me want to see this movie.
What accent is Kit attempting here?! Ha, the guy is perfect looking though good for him.
Oh wow, it's budget Angelina Jolie!
Death Race is still Paul W.S. Anderson's best flick to date.

*Ray Manzarek
Thumbs up!
Paul W Anderson isn't very good at movies at all.
Strange enough he made Event Horizon. His only good movie.
Let's not forget Mortal Kombat which is a good laugh :)
Guilty pleasure I would say :)
Well, Mortal Kombat is fun. In it's own 'special' way

TheDonBarracuda I agree with you on both films.
But who's driving the volcano?!
Is that a cgi horse?
😂
6:38 What's a strawberry pipe?
Jurn Snurr
I am so used to seeing Mark in a suit during his reviews that seeing him in a t-shirt all of a sudden seems jarring.
Someone please tell me Kit escapes on a motorbike! No, no, a Segway! "I needeth more volts damn you!" A bridge jump? Hand glider???
So let's get this right, Simon Mayo makes a great Mocha?
I loved the movie!
Titter ye not!
Nay! 😂

"2nd best movie"
Me: yeah, Mortal Kombat was pret....oh right, Event Horizon.....
I don't understand the praise bestowed upon Event Horizon. Brilliant title for a film, but it's total guff.
It's not a bad movie to me if half naked men who look like Kit are fighting while wearing skirts.
I think Mr. Eko, Kiefer Sutherland, and the volcano explosions were the best parts of the movie. Pompeii was less painful to watch than Robocop, but it wasn't exactly exciting either.
that horse looks so embarassed
It's a really crummy movie. Paul W.S. Anderson takes his 'Resident Evil' schlocky filmmaking and shovels it into a history lesson.
Fit Harington!

I thought the dialogue in the film was pretty fair, though I agree that "my apologize" would have been good.
I thought it was pretty clunky and unoriginal.
Only good thing was Emily Browning and her performance

I heard this movie was not too good. But I do not know why film makers insist on putting a love story in a disaster film. Why?
For the female audience.
ScottishAtheist I guess you are right but I do not like it and I am a female. The love story is usually completely unnecessary.
because while the boys enjoy big explosions, the girls also wanna see some romance ;)
caustic0000000000nl Not all girls want to see romance, some want to see big explosions.
Why not?
I hate how he HAS to complement the guests they had on the show. Kit Harrington was terrible in this.

The moment I hear one of those awful, stereotypical “English” so called accents, I know not to even waist my time with the said movie.
It was a good movie.
