    These Swedish dudes have absolutely no competition at the moment. Just too good. They are showing a dominance that is on par or maybe even more impressive than when Mol-Sorum were crushing the scene. I would love to see Sweden-Norway in the Olympics final but with Mol recovering from a serious injury, I think it would be a no-contest...

      The Swedes changed the game, and they are so amazing on every level, but it's fair to say Germany is rising and did not play well. For as good as Hellvig was and is, Ehlers was not hitting or jumping well. While Beach Volleyball is hardly synonymous with Germany, with adjustments they could've done much better.

      @@nealpobrien really? On the world cup stage they are ranked 3th and 4th between women and men all time, in european championships 2nd and 1st all time and in 7 olympics where beachvolleyball was present got 2 gold and 1 bronze medal.

      @@nealpobrien the swedes didnt change the game. the game was changed for them. like 9/10 of their sets would be errors few years back. the game is completely different because fivb decided they wanted to make the game more 'spectacular' so they let these jump sets go through. for me as a former player its unwatchable

      Blocking is not about height but reading, you can be 7 but keep blocking wrong direction or call and you will get zero ball. OFc you cant be 5 but ad long as you can put your hands out of the net and you are god at reading you can block anything.
      Even a 6.1 with nice jump can go over man net easily.

    Even in a Hurricane, the modern Beach volleyball wins again the old fashion and has been beach volleyball technics... as I said for more than 20 years... speed, 2nd touch-hit, setting far from the net, very low setting (even during wind), are the basic keys of the beach : to make the blocker running running and running (most of the time tall) = He is way too slow to play correctly when moving all the time = disturbing the blocker is the key and never ever set the ball very high as the BLOCK can REST, drink a coffee and TAKE HIS TIME.

    • @froeliuus
      @froeliuus 4 месяца назад

      Yea exactely. Only thing maybe sometime high set close to the net are necessary for a tall spiker to actually spike, to use his max potential. Short set and far from net are good but not so much tu jump max and spike, but maybe you ment that that power game is intentionally gone

    • @bluepawn
      @bluepawn 4 месяца назад +1

      @@froeliuus you're perfect right. Power hit must be present of course but against speed, 2nd touch hit, lots of technics and permanent vision of the opponent s position (set very low, you will watch them permanently: what are their live moves)... The p
      "Power hit" team will lose for ever. The very high setting would work of course for very tall players though... But on this level... There s always a tall block.
