As a German, the finals was such a mix of emotions - on the one hand wanting our guya to win, on the other the absolute amazement at the perfection of beach volleyball
As a beach player, I can confirm, it’s not that easy to implement, as much as I wish it was. Your recive has to be absolutely perfect, to even think about trying this. And everyone who ever played beach on a high level knows that the receiving that the two do, is just on another level.
The idea of this style of playing came from Sweden’s head coach Rasmus Jonsson and legendary player/head coach Anders Kristiansson. David and Jonatan were then deliberately paired together in 2018, and have been training and learning this since then. As you need to have an extremely good technique and it also takes quite a long time to learn, I don't see the current "established" players/teams copying it fully. However, in the coming years we'll surely see new young teams mimic it.
Apart from the on 2 tactic, it also has 2 of the best passing and receiving players in the world. The two of them probably beat pretty much every other team conventionally.
The Sweden boys been making that difference since before they were playing mens beach. I remember seeing them play against Italy maybe U18 or could be U19
Its kinda funny that the 2 best beach teams are nordic. We only have like a week of summer here. Also Qatar didnt finish with a medal. It was Norway and Germany
Well, as long as it is not below zero you can play outside... And that is like 10-11 months a year in the south of Sweden... No different than playing football...
@@erik.... There is a good documentary about the guys and their struggle to find good training grounds in sweden. Usually they have to play in sand that is too rough and with dog poop. So that is probably public parks.
Great observation and yes, what the Swedish staff, coach, players, scouters and whoever came up with the options and jumping set just changed the beach volleyball strategy forever 😜
The pass has to be set within 1.5m from the net in order for option game to work. Difficult to pass that well against these servers. Will take time for others to catch up
Yeah, I think the way people are thinking now to play at the international open level is that you need a great, near perfect, first pass. The second touch should aways be optionable; otherwise, you're not putting enough pressure on your opponents
bro is the biggest hater of german volleyball. Both indoor and outdoor volleyball need praises just because they got duped hard vs the finalists they still played REALLY well. (Beating Japan & Argentinia as your indoor D-Tier team and silver at beach)
This is easy to defend. Go hard/soft AND precise on serve. Don't let the Swedish pass closer to the net. Your serve is the answer to this strategy since blocking or digging it would be impossible. Go proactive!
Bro u should be sure before posting a video of what you are saying not every 3 teams of the groups qualify only two first teams then they do lucky loser and 1 best 3 team also
Great video,, thanks. Maybe you should have mentioned the master minds behind the new tactics. Rasmus Johnson and Anders Kristiansson. Especially Anders is a guru in volleyball and beachvolley.
It's impressive but the first touch must be perfect for the option to be available. So they just have to be amazing players in the first place, it's not a strategy that anyone can just use
Please react to Kristen nuts and Taryn Kluth they're an amazing duo, Kristen is only 5'6" but she is the best defender they just won the Manhattan beach open. Also they're olympians!
One mistake on your video, and I hope you correct the mistake. Qatar 🇶🇦 didn't medal this Olympics it was Norway that got the bronze. The rest was spot on your content. Great video, but one small detail in the final Sweden 🇸🇪 hardly utilize the options attack and still dominate Germany in which Germany has plenty of top 3 finishes throughout the grinding qualifying process to get to represent your country in the Olympics.
knowing the snowflakes who is everyone who is a fan or player of Beach Volleyball, they will make a new rule where you are required to take 3 hits on an initial serve.
I think the title of the video should be changed to”How TWO SWEDISH VOLLEYBALL PRODIGIES Changed THE RULES of beach volleyball forever." It’s not a surprise that the team that got to practice the new rules before any other team and longer than any other team is the best team. But the setting they use would have been laughed at as lifts, throws, doubles, chowder, etc before the rule change. They redirect and throw the ball around like never before. Now that the rest of the world knows and understands the how the rules have changed for this team, lets see how long it takes everyone else to catch up. Seems like it’s getting close already.
You don't really watch beach do you? First of all, how did they know about a rule change in 2017 (when they started training together and implementing the jumpset) that was going to come in 2023? And not only that, they won the European championship in 2022 (along with a couple of titles on the pro tour) during the old rules whilst "throwing" the ball around. And you say that it is close to the other teams catching them already whilst they are leading the world ranking by A THOUSAND POINTS and have taken gold in the last 5 tournaments they have partaken in (including the Olympics). So stop whining and accept that they are a great team who have revolutionized beach volleyball and made it way more exiting to watch.
I chuckle at this kid claiming that he did some "deep diving research" as if he had unearthed information that nobody had ever uncovered before. 😁 Also, "the nation of Sweden" didn't revolutionize anything. Two guys who happen to be from Sweden are trendsetters, but there is nothing typically or exclusively Swedish about what they do; so nationality doesn't factor into it. They might just as well be from Peru or Vietnam and produce the same results.
Well... nationality did actually factor into it. The idea of this style of playing came from Sweden’s head coach Rasmus Jonsson and legendary player/head coach Anders Kristiansson. Yes but you are missing the point. Just the knowledge that the Swedes could go two-ball kept the Germans guessing.
Brazil did the exact opposite.
