    I am so overwhelmed by gratitude that you are documenting this. The loss of these age-old, time-tested cultures frightens and saddens me more than anything else. I have never found any true happiness in the culture that most of the world is enveloped in and many other people share my sentiment. The cultures you are documenting and interacting with are the best pools of information for how to better everything. Please don't stop.

      (1) Look past superficial judgement, things are not always as they seem. (2) You know what makes you happy and you have a choice. (3) By being vulnerable you can deeply connect with and understand other people.

    All the photographers could open the experience behind their works as well as Jimmy Nelson did, whose I became a fan after this video.

    This was so inspirational seeing the physical beauty of the tribes. They work every day to maintain that beauty as we do in North America - I am a makeup artist and have enjoyed learning about the tribes beauty!! Fascinating..... Thank you Jimmy Nelson!!

    Beyond all the controversy about the pictures there is another message: Brené Brown shares a Ted talk about vulnerability. I highly doubt that the two have heard of each other and yet their messages could not be more similar. Vulnerability is the secret. Peace!

    why is it so important to preserve these folk cultures and not force them to assimilate into popular culture? for ap human geo someone help pls

    • @laffyaffy
      @laffyaffy 4 года назад +3

      Lol, it's important because these folk cultures preserve history and traditions; they also positively affect the environment and the world and people around them; forcing them to assimilate into popular culture will cause an uneven shift into the world where less people are rural and more are becoming alike and lacking any form of unique culture assigned to them. They're also happy with their cultures, so forcing them would be quite cruel. Idk, this is probably wrong, but that's what I got.

    Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy! After all this work, dedication and hardship you took on to create your beautiful artworks you go and spoil it all, upsetting lots of your subjects with this unfortunate title! I wish you had entitled it with one of the expressions you used in your talk like: "Being Inspired", "Great Diversity" or simply "Beautiful Corners of the Globe"! Please consider it for any possible re-print! The argument I have heard, that the people were arranged like models and not portrayed in their "natural" state, does not hold because this is always the case with portrait photography and paintings. I see these photos as light painting portraits.

    Humans are On average, biochemically all humans are 99.9% similar to any other humans.
    Jimmy there is beauty in all cultures not just the exotic - the exotic cultures also have their psychopaths.
    There is this beauty in your street - you don’t need to go to the end of the would to be comforted
