Phil is actually incapable of doing basic troubleshooting or problem solving without chat or his parents handholding him (or doing it for him in the case of his parents). It's genuinely worrying that a man in his 40s, who grew up in the era where learning tech was the norm and has tech has a big part of his day to day job, is unable to restart a computer intuitively.
The one time his grocery store didn't have microwavable turkey burgers he nearly burned the house down cooking chicken
it was funny to hear him get upset at the tech guy asking to restart. acting like the tech was crazy
it's sad but there's tons of people like that out there. i work in tech and can't tell you how many people just refuse to restart or check a setting. at least it's job security

DSP can't turn his computer off because it's locked by password and he forgot it 2 weeks after making it.

Anytime he gives a time estimate I always remember that time he said it took "all day" to do something (I think it was related to moving stuff into the house) and Panda chimed in and said it was "like 20 minutes" and he had no choice but to agree because he didn't expect her to correct him.
I don’t own a printer, but when I need to print something I put it on a flash drive and print it out at Staples for less than a dollar for each print. It’s so easy.

There are so many people in my daily life that are much older and deal with much more difficult jobs. Yet they can figure out printers that for the most part are plug and print. 8.1 is still a supported software. It will never not surprise me that he lives in disarray like why doesnt he use one of his day off and clean the place is beyond me. There are countless real businesses struggle to afford new POS transaction system and the pigroach somehow cant afford the trip to his local staples because of his fear of detractors in the wild.

At first I thought DSP was saying his scanner was making separate files for each page, and that's an easy setting to a adjust. But then he said he was scanning his page in quadrants and creating separate files from that and that's something I have honestly never seen ever. I've used the cheap all in one printers at Walmart, old standalone scanners that didn't have a print function, and industrial office scanners that can scan hundreds of pages a minute and I've never seen anything like what he's talking about. DSP is the type of person to blame the instructions because he burned himself boiling water. "The directions said boil the water, but didn't tell me boiling water is hot."
$5’ll get you $10, says that Dave has never updated the drivers on his PC. Hes most likely never even installed ANY security updates either if hes that averse to rebooting/turning off his computer. absolutely horrifying.

Whenever I feel like I need a confidence boost, I watch DSP.
He claims he can't turn his computer off because he's afraid it won't turn back on again. Don't ask me to explain the logic, there literally is none.
My Theo-theory is that he does this on purpose, leaving everything on, so it burns his stuff out and he has an excuse to buy more. He loves spending money and always wants a new excuses to beg for more.
The one time I did that with my computer was because my boot drive was having issues, but easily solved by just getting a new hard drive to run the boot off of. And as I type this I realize if Phil had to do this his head would explode.
And yet he claims he built PCs when he was younger.
His lack of technological literacy actually explains quite a lot.
He doesn't understand the proof of all the arguments against him (bank leaks, etc) because he doesn't know those kinds of logs even exist.

I love that this computer expert is using an end of life OS on the computer he pays his bills on. There have been dozens of new vulnerabilities found in Win8.1 since it went EOL. I guess his paranoia is selective.
As someone who works in IT. There are so many people that act like DSP. Devices are easier to use than ever (for the most part) and people still refuse to do the basics.

I don’t know why he’s being so cryptic about what he needs the printer for. He clearly needs it to print out payment coupons for his back taxes to the IRS. I love how he tries to larp as a grown up running an actual business, but not even the most dented dent is buying the idea that his “Business” has any kind of bills or correspondence that would require a printer. As silly as it may sound, you'd be surprised how many things just restarting will fix or improve.
This makes me feel better lmao. This week I had internet issues, where I would have Wi-Fi, but when navigating to my Wi-Fi it would say “Connected without Internet.” First tried to restart my device; then I tried reconnecting to my Wi-Fi. Those didn’t work. Then last thing: I tried to reset my router, and internet is now working. If DSP had this he’d turn it into a full blown beg.
Not five minutes after bitching about physical paperwork, he’s complaining that his printer didn’t come with a CD and paper manual. You can’t win with Phil. Unless something conforms to his expectations, it’s wrong.
So glad to get the printer saga. Of all the content to curate from gaming, printing troubles is such a novelty won't see it anywhere else!

When downloading new drivers on windows you most likely have to restart to get it to work.
It took me about an hour to set up a printer once. Of course this was a thousand dollar fancy business printer that's used for like high gloss labels and shit at an old job, and it was 30 minutes getting it assembled and updated/connected, and then another 30 minutes of trial and error of figuring out it's centering and all its fun quirks like printing both sides without needing to flip it and shit.

Very old printers use to have individual programs that managed them.
So if you wanted to print, you went to the "printer" program on your pc and started the process.
Nowadays, all printers perform automatic installations. So you don't need to "input a cdrom", open a program, do your work..... now you can right click->press print.
Dsp...... doesn't know that and obviously he won't google it cause his pc knowledge comes from the "Lans he use to have in his basement in 1998".
