    My favorite uncle (same one I mentioned in your Alaskan Pipeline trip) at one time was a "Rodeo Clown" and he bought me a cowboy hat and my first cowboy boots and took me to my first rodeo in Phoenix at the Arizona State fair when I was 5 years old. Yes, he was a Jack of all trades. He did that for fun, he actually at that time was a police officer for Glendale, Arizona.

    My first rodeo was in Jackson Hole, in 1973, I was 12, and still remember a bit of it.
    One of the cowboys had a steer step on his ankle, and he was one of our rafting guides on the next day's excursion. I guess ya gotta be a man of many hats to live in Wyoming.

    This brought back good memories. Years ago I took my kids to see Ft. Laramie and the Oregon Trail wagon ruts. I was inspired to visit it after making contact with a special event amateur radio (ham) station situated at the site. From there it’s a scenic drive up to the Black Hills in South Dakota.

      Very cool! I’m sure the kids had fun too! Beautiful area!

    I've been to the wagon ruts in Wyoming and have pictures similarto your screen shot, I had a hard time getting people to believe those are wagon wheel tracks carved in the stone. We stayed in Guernsey. Ft Laramie had a great book store.

    • @TravelwithaWiseguy
      @TravelwithaWiseguy  2 года назад

      Yeah it’s really amazing standing there and seeing those wagon ruts. Almost seems fake! One of the highlights of my trip!

    Whenever I think of Wyoming I think of a cartoon called Garfield & Friends. There was on segment of the show where they did a parody show called "If it's on TV, it Must be True!" with Garfield the host. One of the "facts" was Wyoming doesn't actually exist. "Think about it, have you ever actually met anybody from Wyoming? In fact Wyoming actually means nothing here." 🤣 That was a bit of a paraphrase as I don't remember the exact wording but it is something close to that.

    Great video. I like the river bridge and natural bridge. How do you mount your camera while driving through the towns? The shots are crystal clear!

    • @TravelwithaWiseguy
      @TravelwithaWiseguy  2 года назад +1

      Thanks! Yeah the bridges were very cool! And you’re gonna laugh, but I have my iPhone on a selfie stick and I would stick it out of the sun roof while driving 😂😂

      @@RyanMOutdoors There are a few times I filmed from the inside of the car, but it definitely makes a difference in how crisp the picture is! I've done a lot of that previously and was always frustrated when a big bug got in the way! Haha

    Looked at the link, man I'm hard pressed to pay 83 dollars for a tent, though it's certainly unique. It looks like paradise being out there all by yourself. I would love it

    • @TravelwithaWiseguy
      @TravelwithaWiseguy  2 года назад

      Yeah I figured I would do it once for the experience to say I “camped” on the Oregon Trail haha. It was a very nice area and I didn’t show the places you could hike because I was pretty tired.

    • @travis303
      @travis303 2 года назад +1

      @@TravelwithaWiseguy I'll bet that is mostly what the 83 dollars is for, for the experience of doing exactly what you said you wanted to do, camp on The Oregon Trail. Would have a fake covered wagon set up to add to The Oregon Trail ambience.

    Love Douglas and Casper when I’d visit family in Wyoming in the late 90s early 00s. Especially the good fireworks year round. But what the hell is goin on with the shakira gay bullshit at the rodeo? Not right
