It's actually really funny understanding an "English" dub better than the actual native speaker. I'm from Germany so I'm fine with these accents as well
@@jersy6406 Yeah well I think it's because we know that some of the English phonetics (such as the 'a' in 'sacks') don't exist in other languages and which sounds are closest to the correct pronunciation. Plus, both Germany and the Netherlands are in the very center of Europe so we hear all kinds of accents around us. Or at least, in the big cities...
I've seen multiple adaptations of the Bremen Town Musicians. It was on Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics on Nickelodeon, the Muppet Musicians of Bremen, it was one of the stories featured in Mixed Up Fairy Tales, and my personal favorite, the Cartoon Network shorts which reimagined them as a garage band called the Bremen Avenue Experience. It may not be as famous as the fairy tales made into Disney movies, but it's hardly unknown.

That quick image you showed at 8:45 is from a Soviet cartoon "Бременские музыканты" [a buncha Russian for "The Bremen Town Musicians"]. It's a pretty swell short, I recommend it. Just thought it was neat that you used the picture.
KickinVixen You’re not alone I kind of missed them too. Before he released this I actually re-watched his Dingo Hunchback of Notre Dame and Anastasia review.
I'm not. These are awesome. Sadly, they are much less bad in the original dub, so we cannot even claim sole responsibility for these poop-covered gems.
Just realized that there's a typo in the back of the french DVD : "Ils vont vivrent beaucoup d'aventures" The correct one is : "Ils vont vivre beaucoup d'aventures". Bravo le France.
Everything about this is stunning. First we have the live-action bits, complete with proper costumes and actual acting, which gives me the terrifying impression that Dingo pictures might actually have been _proud_ of what they were making and at least thought they were putting effort into it, which appears to be confirmed by the fact as we've seen in Alladdin and now this, they did occasionally go back and re-edit their cartoons or at least improve the presentation. Then we have the surreal feeling of hearing the Eastwest crew doing a French dub, and that Wabuu got not one but TWO French dubs. And THEN we have the fact that the OTHER French dub of Wabuu/Wabou got some genuine professional dubbing, which is just as weird as the Italian DBZ people in Perseus. And speaking of anime, it's really freaking insane that they actually tried for Wabou of all things when back in the 80's and 90's, French voice actors gave us infamously horrible anime dubs even for some of the biggest titles (there are even some rather believable rumours that the intentionally sabotaged them because they hated anime). Now I know "Wabou" came out in 2005 and by that point French performers finally decided to stop shooting their own profession in the foot when it comes to anime (giving us mostly bland performances instead of laughably bad ones, and occasionally a genuinely good one), but it's still sad that Wabou apparently deserved some effort, but A-list anime didn't. Also, I'm pretty sure I've heard the guy who voices Wabuu before (which really shouldn't surprise me since it feels like we have a grand total of 30 dub actors in the whole country sometimes). His voice certainly sounds similar to various bit parts from Cowboy Bebop, for example (one of the few anime to get a genuinely good French dub).
Fun extra fact : the cover where we can see the dog, donkey and cat (wich head was cut to fit the title) is a knock off of the "Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics" version of this tale, as we can see they share the same character designs.... damn it dingo.
These EastWest Dubs must be a pain to sit through for these reviews. Jesus. Not only does Phelan have to watch it for note taking, but over and over again in the edit. I'm surprised he's still sane.
So, judging by the live action narrator's body language, he actually put some effort into acting? It makes me wonder at the actual quality of the German vo. Is it possible that they actual expended some effort, and just couldn't be bothered with doing the same when dubbing for other languages?
9:34 I think it’s “when he brought sacks with corn to the mill” Unfortunately in his accent “sacks” and “sex” sound the same, and “corn to” sounds like “c**t in”
The Dutch dubbing industry: On the one hand we got Metasound, a company that did so well it won a bunch of international dubbing awards, most notably for its Disney and Pixar dubs. So iconic and well remembered some Dutch fans decided to make a documentary series (Stemmen van Toen) on the various series and films which were dubbed to take a peek behind the craft, creativity and fun a lot of these actors gave the Dutch children. On the other hand, there's East-West.
These animals are practically sorcerers with how they make their instruments appear out of thin air. They wanted to be rich and famous and it just worked out. Not a ton of conflict involved. However you’re a really good storyteller, that’s what truly sells this review!

i hope wabuu 's voice actor will be guest in one future episode.
There has never been any actual confirmation, but it's possible that he passed away in 2016 or 2017. At the very least, he was removed from the website of the theatre company in Frankfurt where he was part of the ensemble.
@@Lichtenhammer daaaww, a shame. Would have been awesome to have show up
@@Lichtenhammer that's not an happy ending :(
@@Lichtenhammer Aw man, I wanted his autograph.
@@Lichtenhammer That was apparently Roswitha Haas. I dunno if Drogat is even alive.
NOOOOOOOOO!!!! NOT THAT MOVIE...
Which mean, I am happy Phelous is reviewing it!

The English Bremen Town Musicians being this hard to find gives me hope that there might still be an English version of Lion and the King 1 out there.
9:35 "He brought sacks with corn to the mill."
It's probably because I'm Dutch and I'm used to this horrible accent that I have absolutely no trouble understanding it.
So Phelan, if you read this, should you encounter another east-west dub and you can't make out what they're saying, feel free to contact me. I love your videos and I'd love to help! 😁
Man we’re really exploring the Dingo Cinematic Universe. Can’t wait for Wabuu to time travel to stop Alice from ruining Resident Evil.
KingNazaru I can’t wait for the finale film where 4 unlikely heroes travel to Dingo Pictures Studios in Germany, destroys the crayon marker machine, and fight a giant Wabuu made with the souls of the Dingo employees.
Just gotta ask....can you image India?
I can after eating some shinning fruit.
Exit Scene
That quick image you showed at 8:45 is from a Soviet cartoon "Бременские музыканты" [a buncha Russian for "The Bremen Town Musicians"]. It's a pretty swell short, I recommend it. Just thought it was neat that you used the picture.
YEEES I’ve missed these Dingo Pictures reviews.
Something is seriously wrong with me
KickinVixen You’re not alone I kind of missed them too. Before he released this I actually re-watched his Dingo Hunchback of Notre Dame and Anastasia review.

I'd love to see a crossover
It's Dingo Pictures time, with our boy Waibuu 😁👌

Leave it to Phelous to be able to find a Dingo movie that's considered Lost Media to review.
I loved the Bremen Town Musicians Live Action movie when I was a child. I am a furry now.

Brian Hebert
Oh man, I just now remembered that that show was a thing! It was on PBS when I was a kid.
You must be the world's only Dingo Pictures scholar.
I would LOVE to see Armin Drogat as Merlin! He just looks like he's having a ball.
I live in Bremen... And I love that statue. MUGGGGOD!!!
"He brought sacks with corn to the mill." That should have been "He brought sacks *of* corn to the mill."
I’m not even sure how you can get voice acting this lackluster
I wonder if they just hate English that much
I don't know if the one where the kid got super frustrated or this one where they both seem super not into doing it is worse...
well the actors seem to speak french english german and dutch so that makes them way better at it than me at least ...
I wouldn't say they speak English, French and German. They can semi-correctly (at best) read it off cue cards.
Jaded Janus possibly
They’re just lazy.
"It was a real farm, and there was a BIG PILE OF POOO." 😆

I don't think Unenthused-Dutch-Dad could tell the difference between poo and hay.
I love your videos!
As a german and in the name of all germans: ES TUT UNS LEID
I'm not. These are awesome. Sadly, they are much less bad in the original dub, so we cannot even claim sole responsibility for these poop-covered gems.
Awww...mein damen. 😢😿💔🇩🇪🇺🇸
No worries! Most countries have made some bad cartoons. I'm from America, the home of Rapsittie Street Kids Believe in Santa.
Sauerkraut! Bratwürstel! Lederhosn! Oktoberfest!
14:50 Gotta admit that guy Georg Feils has an pretty impressive roar sound.
I was worried that after Animal Soccer World, you’d stop reviewing Dingo movies, I’m so glad you kept going!
That French dub makes me sad.
Victor Hugo Same. I just hate the idea of French people lending their voices to this.
Victor Hugo Dingo's version of your novel must've broken your heart right 😂
As a Dutch person, the Dutch version too
Yeah but everything else cured both my depression & cancer
Glyhnzel That needs to happen.
16:20 according to the spanish dub, what he meant was "manure"
I hate manure
16:50 If you listen closely, you can even hear the kid chuckle a bit xD
Phelous how many copies of the Wabuu movie do you own at this point
Not enough.
Never enough.
I think he's trying to save the rest of humanity from seeing them by removing he movies from circulation. A noble gesture indeed. [salutes]
Koen Van Damme FOR YOU
He’s like redlettermedia with Nukie, he’s trying to stockpile them for everyone’s safety
Just realized that there's a typo in the back of the french DVD :
"Ils vont vivrent beaucoup d'aventures"
The correct one is : "Ils vont vivre beaucoup d'aventures".
Well it’s mostly damn it Eastwest since it’s their cover.
Ah yes, just what I always felt was missing from the story of the Bremen Town Musicians: Commentary on the music industry!
These EastWest Dubs must be a pain to sit through for these reviews. Jesus. Not only does Phelan have to watch it for note taking, but over and over again in the edit. I'm surprised he's still sane.
It's incredible to find there's an entire community that finds something like this interesting even down to the behind-the-scenes information.
So, judging by the live action narrator's body language, he actually put some effort into acting? It makes me wonder at the actual quality of the German vo. Is it possible that they actual expended some effort, and just couldn't be bothered with doing the same when dubbing for other languages?
Dingo Pictures actually made a live action musical film?

Unfortunately in his accent “sacks” and “sex” sound the same, and “corn to” sounds like “c**t in”

Several reviews later and Lucy *_still_* can't find that damned hairbrush
Revisited this review, and established that “START TELLING!!” never gets old.
22:51 fun fact: in Italy up until 2002 the Euro was considered a "fake value", compared to the historic one (Italian lira), and you could be laughing stock for paying with a €5 bill instead of a 10,000 Lt. one.
Finally, the newest installment to the Dingo extended universe.
Funny how these bootleg cartoons were dubbed to every european language except portuguese,so Portugal and Brazil never saw those Dingo films on the shelves, but of course, Vídeo Brinquedo filled our bootlegs needs
Some Dingo movies such as Mouse Police and The Toys Room did actually receive Brazilian Portuguese dubs.
Thanks for the info,i found 4 of them and im ready to torture myself
Phelous takes a long time to talk about the background of the movies he reviews, and honestly I have NO complaints. I could listen to his background research all day!
