Justin you don't know how amazed I am when I learn these. I thought I'd never be able to learn these licks. It's just beautiful to discover these skills in my hands. Much respect for giving away these secrets for free!
Great stuff. Are you playing over backing tracks? There's four volumes of Blues Backing Tracks: www.justinguitar.com/products?type=jam-tracks Cheers :) | close 2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide [ www.justinguitar.com/ ] & Moderator on JustinGuitar Forum [ justinguitarcommunity.com/index.php ]
you're an inspiration Justin and you've, taught me so much you've helped me though me GCSE music teaching incredibly easy to follow lessons keep it up :)
Hey Justin, I don't know how far-fetched this request of mine is, but I'll give it a shot anyway. Once you're done with this second module of Blues Lead Guitar, would you do a lesson on Clapton's solo from "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"? Of course it is one of the most iconic solos of all time, but I realized how big of a pentatonic masterclass that solo is after watching all these lessons on different positions and licks. It'd be a great way to explain how all the ideas (licks, vibratos, string bending) that you explained in these courses could be effectively applied to create such a consummate solo. Also, nobody else can do justice to the Clapton vibrato other than you!
That sound you are getting is great. Didn't Justin just recently do a video on his gear? I know he has a lot of them - but this one was recent, maybe in support of this course. He used a compressor in the front of the chain. I may be thinking of someone else?
Thanks for the lesson Justin. As always, Brilliant. I'm having a problem with seeing the tabs on the website. They don't show up. I am using Google chrome.
I think it can be played very differently because you use less bends, mainly because you have a wound G string, so you tend to use more slides and hammer on/pull offs. Check out the Clapton unplugged stuff for loads of great examples. Blues on the acoustic really has a different vibe to it.
+Nannomous On acoustic it is quite different. For example string bending is only possible on the two thinnest strings when going for high bends. Rhythmic it can also be filled in very differently. Don't forget that the Blues umbrella is still a very broad genre that contains many different subcategories. Acoustic really differs in the way its played, even though you could apply most of the same theory. As MrFungu5 said check out Clapton unplugged for a good idea on how it differs both rhythmic and lead.
I hate to say anything critical because I am a huge fan of your videos. But these licks videos... I think it would help me pull it together if you included a section of you putting it together playing the licks over a backing track. No discussion needed. Just a minute or two of seeing the licks in action, maybe with a pop up saying which lick you are playing. Maybe that is already located someplace else that I have not discovered yet.
I had intended to do that actually but ran out of time before leaving the country to run workshops for a month. But most of these licks (maybe all) are in the the intro of the first video in this series!
Thanks Justin! I will take a look and give a listen to the video you mention. Amazing place this Internet where a fan can actually interact with a performer and ask a question like this.
I thought that as well until I discovered the multitude of backing tracks available on RUclips. Now I find it much more instructive to learn a few of the licks, find a backing track in A minor [most of the lessons are in A min] and put them to use. I tend to feel more ownership over the licks and seem to remember them longer. Give it a try.
How about naming the key or at least showing the whole box four so I can identify which key box four belongs to. Sure I can figure it out for myself but why should I have to when you could announce it with two syllables?
Sorry to hear/read about your luggage. At one point in my career, I was traveling weekly. Got to the point in which if I couldn't carry it on, it didn't go. I don't mean to disparage an entire working group of people, but baggage handlers tend to be the most disrespectful to others belongings than anyone I have ever met.
Justin, when I watch your videos, it's like meeting a friend, it makes me happy.
Thanks!
Same here =)
That is such an accurate way of describing his videos
These licks are so powerful they knocked out my power while I was learning! Or maybe that was the wind and rain. Great lesson 🙂

I just added them a minute ago, had forgotten, so they're there now!
Great lesson Justin! Could you also do a blues licks lesson on acoustic?
I have an acoustic blues series in the works!
