- Today, somewhere in the Namibian desert, I met an impressive guy named Frans. His native dialect is the clicking language!
He was born and raised in this dry, windy climate of stunning red sand dunes and wild-roaming zebras. And leopards. And wildebeests. And snakes.
I was so impressed by Frans's desert survival skills and knowledge of 11 (ELEVEN) languages fluently -- including his native dialect of the 'clicking language' -- so it was impossible for me not to share his story with you.
One of the biggest motivators for me to continue my journey to every country in the world is meeting unique people and getting a glimpse into their daily lives. Frans is a perfect example of this.

I had seen this clicking language before with the bushmen, it very interesting how it must have evolved. I am guessing it came from the need to communicate during a hunt in a way that does not spook the prey?

Mason Klabunde its probably the afrikaans you here in there. Its similair to dutch but also has alot of german pronouncatian alikenesses.

He said he speaks 11 languages fluently. This doesn't mean he doesn't speak other languages non-fluently. I think that's the reason :)
