A HUGE heat wave continues to build across the United States this week, bringing widespread 90s and triple digit high temperatures over the next few days. Rounds of severe thunderstorms are possible on the northern periphery of the heat wave, from the Upper Midwest into the Great Lakes and the Northeast. Tropical Storm Alberto has just formed and will continue to bring very heavy rainfall, flash flooding, and significant storm surge to Coastal Texas and the East Coast of Mexico over the next 24 to 48 hours. A HUGE heat wave continues to intensify across the United States this week, bringing widespread 90s and triple digit high temperatures to many people. Rounds of severe thunderstorms are possible across the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes, and Northeast over the next few days. Additionally, Tropical Storm Alberto has formed this morning and continues to bring widespread, flooding rains and significant storm surge to Coastal Texas and the East Coast of Mexico.

A flash drought is a drought that develops very rapidly over a short-period of time due to the lack of rainfall, hot temperatures and rapidly declining soil moisture.
