Looks like everyone is loving these fidget spinners toy things.
Looks like is part of many EDC ( every day carry) out there and everytime I see one I wonder how fast could I make one go...
So I made one and spin it with hight pressure (350PSI) air and my tachimeter could't measure how fast it could actually spin. In fact it only gets to 99.999 RPM so I got to guess was quite a bit more than that...
I hope you liked this new segment of mine "cause I can"...
I will show things I normally do without filming but I thought that if they are fun for me maybe they can be cool for you too...

Even if perfectly balanced so it can reach high rpm, its built well and it's given the least resistance possible, it can still explode if sped up fast enough like a shrapnel bomb

@@MKgumba The SlowMoGuys covered the phenomenon of when circular objects are spun too fast. Look up "CD Shattering at 170,000FPS". Granted the CD was plastic and the fidget spinner is metal, but it can still explode; it would just take an insane RPM to do so.

timmy moreels i have spun it with compressed air, about 7 bars. I don't know how much rpm it was, but after a few seconds it was really hot to hold anymore. Btw I span only the bearing.

The laser measurement thing is clearly just timing the holes going by, and since there are 7 holes, its readings are going to be off by a factor of 7 as well. But we have a better way of figuring out the actual spin rate. If you look at the waveform of the sound at 2:00, it takes 15 samples for one full oscillation. 15 samples at 44.1 kHz works out to 2940 Hz, which is the noise created by a 6-ball bearing, so you divide that by 6 to get the spin rate of the entire thing, which is 490 HZ, or 29'400 RPM. Which is still quite impressive so I don't see why you would lie about it, but then I'm not a clickbait youtuber so what do I know.

Superglue is fucking strong, plus the hole size is close enough to the bearing's size where I'm sure it would friction fit in, and the glue is probably for security just in case, and steel bearings have been known to stand 80,000+ rpm with no reinforcement so imagine what it's like with the reinforcement of half an inch of steel, which is reinforced by another half inch attached with 7 steel beams.
also i'm not sure if it's stainless steel or aluminium but aluminium is still almost as strong as steel

It's not doing 100,000 RPM. Someone analyzed the sound emitted and measured it at about 14,000 RPM. Quite impressive but below the reported number
