I'm from the UK and I'm on holiday in France. We have run freesat for nearly 10 years on a dish/receiver pack from a Home Depot type outfit. This has a card to go in the receiver and it has worked fine. Recently it died and I bought a GTMEdia V7 from Amazon. I was surprised to see that it came without a card and what it found from the Astra satellite (serving western Europe) was over 900 channels, many encrypted, but it did *not* find the major French free to air channels e.g. TF1. Have I just wasted my money or am I doing something wrong? PS it turns out the trouble with the old box was just the 5V transformer so we are back to using that!
Hi brother. Can I install fre to air LNB on amy dish or it has to be a specific dish? Like, will Bell dish work if I put Linear LNB on it to get FTA channels?
In general the bigger the dish, the better. It may depend on your location relative to a satellite's footprint. ruclips.net/video/DgUCJ4U7gXM/видео.html Look at the following links for a listing of channels currently on the North American satellites: www.lyngsat.com/america.html www.tvrosat.com/cgi-bin/portal_charts.cgi
Signal strength (or intensity) is the sheer magnitude of the signal. This doesn't necessarily translate to a watchable channel. The quality of the signal is how much of the desired signal is received by a dish (ie: enough signal to overcome any errors to make a watchable channel). This is where aiming the dish ( and using a large enough dish) are critical; azimuth (east-west direction), elevation (look angle of the dish to the sky), and the skew (rotational angle of the LNB) must all align in order to receive a reliable signal, and therefore watchable, channel.
I avoided the V7 S and bought the V7 Plus instead. It has 4 RCA connectors directly on the rear and a bogus antenna in pal plug with European receive only. Also avoid the Koquit if you need 12 volts. Try the wifi. I'm told the software won't run it. I couldn't get either a bigger DirecTV nor a bigger Dish to make a picture with a linear LNB. You need a heftier dish.
So glad I found your videos! You are teaching me a lot. Thank you!
I’m glad you find my videos helpful. Thanks for watching!📡
Thanks for the video! I’ll look for this one, since it’s cheaper than most. Have a great day!
You’re welcome, thanks for watching 📡

I only cover channels that are in the clear and unencrypted.
Does it work in Africa as well?
This receiver has features for a motor? Neat! I wonder how it sends position commands?
Either by DiSEqC 1.2 or USALS.
Very nice video,sir,,
From Pakistan
@@محمداقبالبھٹی-ن5ه Thank you.
Does it support Forever settillite and G-share subscriptions?
Not to my knowledge.
Hi brother.

Use a 33 inch or bigger dish. Bell dishes are too small for linear KU Band signals. They’re not worth trying to modify.
If you’re in Canada a Shaw dish will work for FTA channels as it is.
@@NorthcoasterHobby yes, I am i. Saskatchewan, so want to get one at my home.
Does dish size correspond to where you live? What free programming is on the satellite you watch?

How many free channels did you find?
It depends on the satellite.

If I use RCA plugs into an old TV set, do I have to change resolution to 480 i from 1080 i ? I had it as a suggestion. I'm not sure if it's s valid.
I’d say it is a good idea to switch it.
Good info... 👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Good
I have hughesnet can I get italia channels in zip code 02673 if get the GT Media V7s Satelite receiver?
What is difference between signal intensity & quality?

can I use my old Directv antenna? I got the box and no channels
Likely it will not work. The LNB on DirecTV dishes are circular KU band LNBs. You need a linear KU Band LNB.

are these FTA receivers still working
Yes.
@@NorthcoasterHobby ok thank you
@@NorthcoasterHobby what is a good site to get me up to date on the fta receivers it’s been a very long time
