- I'm explaining how fire alarm systems work for new technicians or other employees who deal with these systems. This is my 6th video in a string of many Khan Academy-styled lessons. This video introduces how digital dialers send alarm signals to a dispatch center, which in turn alerts the local fire department.

Most fire departments have pagers that only notify them not every department. But it may be different where you live. Awesome vids

I would like to comment on one minor point. It is becoming ever more rare, but in the video he commented that a signal never goes directly to a fire station. In the city of Detroit, there are still some schools I service that are direct dial to the fire department instead of any monitoring station or 24 hour supervised staff at the site. This is quite the rarity...the number of customers this way could probably be counted on one hand.
yeah you right here in NJ we have a game well that device call directly to the fire department , but just a few towns
I have programed auto dialers that call the local fire department.
Do u have videos on conventional ductectors they give me fit when doing service calls
alarm repairers will often visit instead of the fire trucks.
how come you never speak of supervisory troubles????
