    My Dad was in the SAS he never ever told me and I didn’t find out until after he died and ex squadron people turned up to his funeral. He was in Malaya. In the garage in a box he had all of his stuff. Sand coloured beret and photographs of people he served with. There was a note for me. It said… Dear son guess you have found out there is a little bit more about me. But that’s ok. You are my hero and I saw how much you struggled for the first 18 months as a baby. I decided to focus everything on you.

    Idk how anybody could doubt it. It isn't that SEALs are bad, that Delta, GSG9, are bad... The SAS were the prototype. They created most of the tactics used by units considered to be the best in the world today.
    If you told me the SAS was coming to save my life in a hostage situation, I would think "well this is my best chance to leave here alive".

      @chrisbreezy-ryanbarbosa4320 Месяц назад +3

      They are all "Tier1" for a reason, the fact is Delta or anyone from JSOC will have just as good a chance. When you hear about failures by all the best teams. SAS SEALs Delta usually extremely fluky bad luck is involved. SAS failed in their skud missile finding back in the gulf war they wre all captured or killed, just badluck a suicide mission. SEALs failed a mission for hostage rescue near Somalia because a dog barked and gave them away. Delta failed trying to rescue the hostages from Iran, their plane malfunctioned and literally blew up on them in the desert. If extremely bad luck is not involved their success rate is like 99%

    • @mturker100
      @mturker100 Месяц назад

      @@chrisbreezy-ryanbarbosa4320 you're not wrong but for America "Tier 1" is very specific. Far as I can recall that's Delta, SEAL team six, and the 24th STS from the Air Force. I'm just saying that the SAS really started the brand of what we call special operations today. At least the highest versions of it.

    • @Wile_E._Wolf

      It's a false equivalency. Following your logic the first caveman to pick up a stick/rock and hit somebody with it is the greatest warrior on the face of the planet...
      Tiers mean nothing more than money allocated per individual in the US. It's not a measure of "badassery" as many falsely believe.
      The UK SAS also didn't invent "all the tactics we use", not by a long shot. Current (and formerly-used) tactics are developed all across the globe by a multitude of nations. Whatever works works, it doesn't matter whether you've a Union Jack or an ISIS flag on your seen arm. The irony is that the US has probably developed and filtered more TTPs throughout the international SOF community than any other country. Why? Because US forces are in conflicts around the World 24/7, have a huge military budget, invest heavily in the longevity and training of their SOF troops and train with more other nations than any other single country.
      "Billy" can say what he said, anybody can, because no true test will ever occur. UK SAS are never going to be involved in a conflict on the opposite side of the US. Talk is talk and most guys know better, apparently Billy in his retirement forgot that

Because they are alpha males. 2nd. No one has made a logical argument. I personally wouldn't rank sas as #1. Just because they were the first "commando" unit in ww2, doesnt make them the absolute best today. Another point, sas/delta/ Sayeret Matkal/ seals/ green berets/etc all have different roles. When it comes to killing my vote is with seals/Sayeret Matkal. Training local units. Sas/green berets. Keel in mind sas has to rely heavily on american electronic warfare, as well as aircraft. The budget for american spec ops is by far larger than all other SF in the world combined. I mean u and I cant imagine what they have now. Back during operation enduring freedom footage was captured of invisible camo. When osama bin laden was killed, we learned about fully stealth helicopters. Turns out the stealth helos has been operational since mid 90s. SAD/SOG, the United States has several teams separate teams. Each specializing in specific operations. And if you haven’t realized yet the United States make an insane effort to be the best in every category when it comes to military. Planes (f22) tanks, weapons, tech, intelligence, ect. The United States also has a more broad landscape and more diverse terrain to train on. So I think the US being that the budget for their teams is probably higher and the intelligence they get is better. Ive never met someone with such situational awareness and clear communications under pressure. I can only describe him as egoless. No bragging, no showing off and no war stories and incredibly competent. We only found out when he was even in the SAS when he suggested to one of the younger lads that he had the right temperament for the SAS.
    I can imagine that a group of lads all like him would be like a well oiled machine! A harmonious hyper competent killing machine.

      My own great grandads family thought he was a paratrooper until about 3 years after he died when they finally received his medals, which was well after the war ended. Reason they though paratrooper was because he was captured way behind enemy lines and was sent to a POW camp where he got an ear infection and had an improvised surgery to save his life, but meant he was deaf in one ear.
      He died of cancer, years after the war, and never once did his family get even an inkling he was SAS. Which is some A tier secret keeping.

Every SAS guy I have met in civilian life seems to be able to turn his hand immediately to any building trade - plumbing, electrician, bricklaying, metalworking etc. Ask him to dig the garden for you for a few quid and he does not stop - as long as the tea keeps coming. From Norway here, and i'm no expert so i don't wanna be too loud, but from what i've heard from friends in the millitary, the SAS/SBS are without a doubt the best in the world

      In afghanistan, there was one unit that never got dehydrated. They were from Norway (marinejegere). From the stories I have heard, they are extremely tough ones. The SAS are the oldest ones in the world...but the best at what? Green berets are specialized to gather inteligence behind enemy lines. Navy seals have 3 specialized operative fields. There is so many different types of special forces out there. They are all pretty good, but none are the best.

    Maybe they were once, maybe in the last century., But today there are so many special units in every country that it is hard to say,the teren(field) where you practice makes you the strongest (toughest) English have a lot of rain, altitude and cold... but the Italians have that too, Germans, Croats, Swedes..etc.. nowadays war is fought with a red button🛑 much more than hand-to-hand fighting, and the strongest soldiers are those who have recently been in a war,. I am Croatian and I think that we have an army that could fight with any in the world.❤🇭🇷❤ ✌️🫰 ..
