Pop tarts are most definitely considered a breakfast item but a lot of people just eat them as snacks anytime.

TXnine7nine I'll eat a Pop Tart cold as a snack, but I break off the edges because the dough is so dry and tasteless. I like the filet of Pop Tart!

In Canada I don't think it's as much of a breakfast thing. I never had them for breakfast lol, maybe in my school lunch but I mostly consider it a snack. I also don't eat them heated up lol, but I know some people do.

OK, she just lost her American citizenship!! Baking rice crispy treats?!! Yuchh, no butter but almond milk in mac n cheese?!! Burning pop tarts & microwaving them?!! Unroasted marshmallows in smores?!! Im just suprised she didn't use Ritz crackers, marshmallow peeps and chocolate nestle quick to make them!! I hope her man can cook, because anything edible is clearly her kryptonite!!

Store baught rice crispy treats are gross 🤢 i never bothered making them into bars, i ate them right out of the bowl, sometimes slightly warm. They are my all time fave. Nobody cooks poptarts but then i always thought they tasted like cardboard and sugar, junk food that wasn't worth eating.

    • @tatumslaton

tahdahloo I like both but I don’t like the normal way of making homemade. If you like peanut butter then try adding that to the butter when melting and then the mellows then the Rice Krispies and add m&ms for something extra and it tastes so good. I’ve been doing this for YEARS 😂

@madiford1549 You don't bake rice crispy treats, melt the marshmallows in butter (or margarine), stir in the Rice Crispies. Cool. You are done, no baking.
She made the Mac-n-Cheese with almond milk and no butter. (She might be vegan/vegetarian) They changed the recipe of the new mac-n-cheese, it has less artificial ingredients.
She nuked the Pop-Tarts, I have nuked Pop-Tarts but it isn't recommended.

"smear marshmallows on the rice krispies and put bake them" UHHHHH. O.O
in a medium-to-large saucepan, melt something like a half a stick of butter (really like 3-4 tablespoons) with a bag of marshmallows over a medium heat. some people like to stir in a half cup or so of peanut butter. Once smooth, remove from heat and add 6 cups of cereal (you could use other types of cereal as well). press into well greased pan and let cool. THAT'S IT.
Also, for peter and pity's sake, read the instructions on the mac 'n cheese box.
    Wait... MICROWAVED pop-tarts.
No offense intended but this is legendary levels of WHAT???

    • @djg5950
      @djg5950 6 лет назад +8

I caught her on all those cooking faux pas. Almond milk in mac and cheese ? WHAT ?? Baked Rice Krispie Treats ? Again WHAT ? MICROWAVED Pop Tarts (haven't eaten those nasty things ever since they first came out in the 1970's but others would starve to death if it wasn't for Kraft M&C, Ramen Noodles and Pop Tarts) again WWHHAAAT ? Most eat the Pop Tarts cold right out of the package. To each his own. If Joel and Lia liked these foods prepared this way they'd really like them cooked properly.

I agree I’m sorry but maybe try it according to the directions and then change it up....its like having bangers and mash with
hot dogs. You can’t just leave out the butter....aaaaaa butter tastes sooo good....I haven’t had it in sooo long!!! As for the pop tarts I always heat mine in the microwave for about 15 seconds ...and I break off and don’t eat the parts without jam lol...and if you eat graham crackers they are made with sugar, honey etc they are a pudding item....I love the little “Teddy Grahams!” They are tiny little teddy bears made from Graham crackers and are considered a cookie item for kids.
Either way I loved your guest!!♥️
She was lovely and sweet! I enjoyed laughing with the three of you! Besides you can hardly demonstrate using a toaster that doesn’t set of the smoke detector!😂♥️reminds me of my house!!
lol 😂 Seriously I loved your friend glad you have listed her...I’ve already subscribed and she’s AWESOME 👏🏻 just like you two!!
Love that if I’ve had a bad moment like spilled my coffee I can pop on Joel and Lia and laugh a bit before going back to my day!! Cheers🥂

They asked if Kraft was an important part of Kraft mac and cheese, and it isn't in America.
But in Canada that exact same product is called "Kraft Dinner".
So the brand is built right into the name in Canada.
It was made into a joke on South Park, the Kraft dinner is a staple of growing up in Canada, and in America is just labeled differently as macaroni and cheese.
I had to bring back a box of "Canadian Kraft dinner" because I couldn't believe it was an actual product, but again it is just difference in marketing it's the same thing with the same powdered cheese.

Jennifer WarHawk They still include pop-tarts in some military MREs. Since everything in an MRE is designed so that you can eat it cold if you want to (or if there's no time to heat them with the FRH), obviously they're meant to be eaten as-is. I suppose you could warm the pop-tart with the FRH, but I've never tried it.

I love Kraft and Velveta mac and cheese for different reasons. Kraft takes me back to being a kid and in college!! Aaaaa....good times... and Velveta is what I hide Fresh broccoli 🥦 in for my son and hubby!!! Gotta get creative sometimes with both my boys!!
Do you guys have frozen cauliflower in the shape of rice and spaghetti noodles over there? They are also a great way to get vegetables into peoples meals without them complaining and for the rest of us grownups who know we need to eat more healthy they are a fantastic alternative to rice and pasta!! And another one I love is zucchini spaghetti which I make with an attachment on my KitchenAid mixer… That one is pretty old-school by now but it really really works! I do the zucchini stirfry it with a bit of teriyaki and onion and toss in some lean chicken breasts cut up that I’ve cooked in the crockpot all day so they are really tender and juicy but still lean and healthy… (I also add onion and teriyaki sauce to the crockpot) since you guys are vegan what would you add to something like that in the place of meat? Actually you guys should do a video on what it means to be a vegan especially in the UK and maybe the differences between UK vegans and USA vegans! I would love to know the difference! Because I am heading that way myself possibly and would love a real take on what it’s like.... do I have to give up butter? Oh my gosh do vegans eat ice cream ever? I love Häagen-Dazs just a few spoonfuls will do the trick but oh my gosh do I have to give up Häagen-Dazs?..... maybe I’ll be a vegan minus..... kind of like the B- my son just got in calculus... it’s really good but could be better...
seriously educate me on what it means to be a UK vegan please please please and maybe what the differences are between a USA vegan please please please!! I’ll buy you a ☕️ and you won’t even have to share☕️😂♥️

To anyone going to America and want to try the food, try these:
    - BBQ (Anywhere. Midwest, Texas, or Carolina preferred). Try burnt ends if you can find them, also pulled pork or ribs.
    - Fish Tacos, (west coast). Legit ones are fried fish with cabbage and some bomb sauce on corn tortillas
    - Lobster Rolls, crab cake, clam choweder (New england/East coast)
    - Philly cheese steak (anywhere)
    - Potato Salad, Macaroni Salad (anywhere)
    - Biscuits & Gravy (anywhere, but south preferred). If the gravy grosses you out, try a hot buttermilk biscuit on its own with some butter.
    - Non-Kraft Mac & Cheese, Shrimp & Grits, Cornbread, chicken pot pie (south preferred)
    - Burgers - hit or miss with burgers, try a few out. Don't be scared of the local hole in the wall places for a great burger.
    - Americanized Mexican Food (Southern west coast only) - Try enchiladas, carne asada burrito, tacos, flautas, taquito's - all with guacamole of course
    - Also try the American style of non-American classics like Gyro's, Pizza, Fish & Chips, etc
    - Snacks & candy: Sour punch straws, nerds rope, Butterfinger, Rice Krispies treats, twinkies, Reeses pb cups, starburst, Funyuns, Cheetos, Flamin hot Cheetos, Lays Salt & Vinegar chips, All sorts of Doritos, nachos from a 7-11 or a sporting event, Fun Dip,

Alyson Lloyd - No, hole in the wall taco shops in America, even in southern California, sell Americanized Mexican food. Literally every "burrito" is "Americanized" since a burrito isn't a Mexican food item. Taco Bell doesn't even count on the Mexican food spectrum in my world.

Im Native American, and its common for us to eat "Banana Boats" during our Powwows. A Banana boat is a treat that is usually made over a campfire/bonfire, but you can use a microwave too....just be careful with the marshmallows. What you do is get nice not too ripe bananas [try not to use the bananas that have black spotted peels...use that for banana bread], cut down the center of the "J" part of the banana and try to make sure you just cut the banana peel and not the banana inside. Then on one side of the banana you stuff your favorite kind of chocolate candy bar, and the otherside you stuff marshmallows. Put it over the fire [or in the microwave on low] and let the fire melt the chocolate. Once the chocolate is melted, the marshmallow should also be melted enough for you to eat the Banana Boat. The peel of the banana acts as a "bowel" and you scoop the succulent goodness out of the banana. You can add cherries, whip cream, and nuts for a more banana split flavor. ENJOY! From the Blackfoot Nation/Siksika Tribe here in the USA!
PS....Poptarts are Pogie Bait here [snack food for security guards or gamers]. And Mac and Cheese taste best with whole milk and butter....like REAL butter from Tillamook or something like that....and not some fake "I cant believe its not butter" crap or margarine goo. But, to each their own....dont burn down the place! lol

S'mores are best when you can roast the marshmallow on the end of a stick over a camp fire (reference the movie Sandlot)
Everyone has their own preference on the proper way to roast a marshmallow.
My brother likes to stick the marshmallow into the hottest part of the fire and let catch on fire causing it to create a burnt crispy carmelized crust and the center is warmer causing the marshmallow to melt the chocolate bar a little more.
He calls it a S'more fit for a god. Cause it is a burnt offering. (funny guy)
I prefer to rotisserie my marshmallow to perfectly even golden brown and instead of a Hershey's bar I will use a reese's peanut butter cup.
But the whole point is the campfire and family time.

I'm from America, and pop tarts in general are considered a breakfast item, but not a complete, or proper breakfast. It was always an acceptable alternative when you do not have time for a good breakfast. Now as the crust on pop tarts goes, I think the word you are looking for is pie crust, it's a pie crust filled with jelly and covered in frosting and sprinkles. Not so much as a pastry.

But i do agree that i don't really think that's a JUST breakfast thing. When i was growing up or was grits and eggs or Cheerios for breakfast. Maybe pancakes with cane syrup. (I love ms butterworth..instead) I wonder if they've ever tried grits (with butter, salt and pepper) or the northern equivalent cream of wheat? S’mores were originated for camping trips. You have your meal and s’mores was dessert. Everyone sits around the camp fire and toast the marshmallows on a stick and then squishes the marshmallow between two graham crackers and a layer of a Hersey chocolate bar. It’s just not the same making and eating one in the house. I just came across your videos recently and I am really enjoying them very much.

First: She is NOT making American food, but some goopy crap.
I for one hope her friends learn she didn't fix these food right. Bake rice Krispy? Melt butter in a large pot. Put in mini marshmallows and melt them, stirring them well so they won't stick and burn. Measure out the rice krispies cereal and then pour them into the melted marshmallows. Stir well, get butter on your fingers and coat a baking pan well, pour mixture into pan. More butter on your fingers and spread out into pan. Place in fridge for about 20 minutes, remove and cut into desired sizes. Eat and enjoy a fantastic snack.
No butter in the mac and cheese and not use real milk? That was Not mac and cheese. The powdered cheese needs the milk to return it to cheese. Real milk, not milk made from nuts. Pop tarts, breakfast but can also be a snack, and you don't need 30 seconds, and they come in a wide variety of flavors.
Never been camping, I mean Never? If you can't make it correctly DON'T make it wrong and give the wrong impression.
Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Apple pie or Apple crisp and some like maple syrup on it and real whipped cream. Take heavy whipping cream and beat it with a mixer, get it really, really whippy creamy. Toll House choc chip cookies. Hot dogs, the American way. Hot dog buns, make some sauce With Meat, put onions on top and some like cole slaw, relish or other toppings. They are truly American. The queen of England and her husband came to American and tried them. The queen couldn't bring herself to pick it up and eat it, but her hubby picked it up and scarfed it.
And for Heaven's sake, how about reading the directions and doing it the right way! ! ! Sheesh

Beth Jones and RMC7181 JJ, I agree the only way to enjoy a Pop Tart is toasted unfrosted with butter. My favorite was the blueberry, unfortunately they stopped making unfrosted blueberry about 20 years ago, unfrosted strawberry isn't as good, but will do in a pinch. I never liked the frosted Pop Tarts they are way too sweet. It's a shame that the unfrosted lost out in popularity, originally they made all the flavors in both frosted and unfrosted, but because not enough people were buying the unfrosted they gradually stopped making the other unfrosted flavors.
