The data analysis tool was straight forward and simple to use. My stats undergrad professor used to say there was no such thing as a random number selection. "Everything runs off a formula. So how could it ever be random?" he would say. Thank you for the video Dr.Grande.

This video was great! I appreciate that Dr. Grande offered different ways of running the numbers using Excel. There are so many other functions within the program I was not aware of until I began watching these step-by-step guides. Very helpful!

This video helped me understand random sampling and using random numbers. It helped me understand how to pick a sample size when I actually do have a population of scores for my research assignment. Thank you for creating this very informative video. I can look back on it when I am confused about sampling, rank & percentage, and random number generation.

I never realized that Excel could be used for random sampling and random number generation. This video would be really helpful for the layperson who wants to perform these functions but does not have access to SPSS to do so. This is really helpful and valuable information!

Before watching this video I admit I scoffed believing that this was an invaluable piece of information because it can be easier getting a random number with an app or a website calculator. I now see how very wrong I was. This video will be another on my saved list because I can see this coming in handy later on. Much better than my random number Iphone app!

Thank you for the video Dr. Grande. It's interesting to see how you build an excel sheet by adding random numbers. This is a good tool to use for practicing all the information we've been learning throughout your videos.

I also really liked being able to see this made from a blank slate, rather than it already being a pre-made set of data already calculated out. I did not know that random number generating was a function in excel, which makes it so easy to run statistics and probabilities on truly random numbers. I also love how excel lets you copy and drag a function once you have computed it in one cell; it saves so much time.

  • @jhoward1129

I mentioned in an earlier video that I wondered if Dr. Grande made his own templates or if they came from a template. I like that this video started from a blank slate. It is an even better demonstration of how to do something. I also like like copy and drag function because it is definitely a time saver. Good tip!

The rank and percentile function was really interesting and seems very useful. This function is good for scale like IQ, which Dr. Grande references, or the Apgar scale. I have to say, I feel like at one point I knew why you would need a group of random numbers but I cannot remember it anymore. It was frustrating to watch the two random number generator functions to keep changing with every change to the worksheet. I have to wonder what the purpose of that is. Finally, the sampling function is very simple but obviously useful. It is wonderful that these types of tools exist now because random generation is difficult without technology.
