He's casting vicious mockery and reducing emotional damage negation by 100%. Which also affects your small brain resistance, increasing build up of the getting wrecked status effect. 😂😂😂
this spell is literally the game equivalent of the devs giving you a shotgun, like a literal semi-auto shotgun lol, it's like "ohh you're using a greatsword, you're using a spear and.... ohhh that guy's using a Saiga 12".
Hey Scott, for the big flashy spell that you say you don't know what's going on with it, it's an incantation called 'Law of Regression'. Despite being an incantation it takes 37 intelligence to use, so it's a big weird commitment, however it dispels ALL effects, positive or negative, in a massive AOE, and from my experience the active effect seems to linger a bit as well (Meaning if you just buff immediately after it's cast it'll auto-dispel it for a short while without them having to re-cast it). It's a big commitment however it's really good into a meta where people use a ton of buffs and stuff, and obviously devastating to people who use their flask to meet weapon requirements and such.
also for anyone with pure int builds with no faith stat you can use the frenzied flame seal which has 0 faith requirement. another int incantation worth considering is the law of causality which is like a bomb that explodes when you get hit too many times in quick succession. edit: i actually looked up fextralife after this comment. apparently five consecutive hits trigger the explosion.
@@stewrat0420 Causality seems like it could be quite good too, although it can still be played around ultimately unlike Law of Regression which literally just happens without any way to avoid it. Actually, that's the spell Gideon spams a lot in his boss fight, the one that makes it look like he's doing instantaneous Wrath of Golds.
It is sad that Scott "Only React" Jund gets this much attention from the community, seeing as he is one of the WORST influences on the game. He literally only reacts too when his opponents swings, and never mixes up his attacks and I have yet too see him preform any of the newly discovered tech (ie. reverse backsteps, 360 parries, etc.). Wake up people, and understand this main is destorying Dark Souls.
Fun meta, not Tryhard meta. A good player with a shield and pokey weapon would destroy this build. As would a good player with a number of other builds I would think.

You have been entertaining me for literal years at this point, thanks for all the content, streams, etc. If it wasn't for you and Snake I probably never would've gotten into the souls series which has since become one of all-time favorites, and also getting me into the competitive scene as well. I remember watching your dks3 videos all the time while doing fight clubs almost daily, good times. I hope Elden ring gets some major balance changes soon because right now every fight just ends so quick and many of the weapons are braindead to use and win with but I feel SO much potential if From sticks it out.
I love the beast incantations. Even though Clawmark Seal is kinda trash, between it having Strength scaling and the beast incantations requiring so little Faith to use, it’s basically “Strength builds can have a little magic, as a treat”. They’re really fun for PvE and it’s nice to see that at the very least Bestial Sling and Beast Claw can do some mileage in PvP too.
@@alswisha8519 I believe the way it works is that the seal’s Incantation Scaling is based on its letter scaling. So since Clawmark scales with Strength and Faith the number you see as it’s Incantation Scaling derives from both those stats.
I'm glad you're branching out into having fun with "non meta" builds. You're good enough at understanding spacing and animations that you will win on that alone. May as well enjoy the variety of ways you can play! Edit: Also about magic and the infinite fp guys etc. Look into carian retaliation WA for a shield. Scales off of your shield damage fyi.
@@devinn4076 There are a few glitchy things about Carian Retaliation like how you can parry your own spells as well as a hosts monster spells to get the effect. The damage scaling is also busted atm it seems. However negating magical damage and then giving it back is not a glitch. And it is very good that there are options for this in the game because magic is very powerful. As for the supposed meta, there are many things that aren't "meta" because a youtuber hasn't done it yet that are actually obscenely strong. The only meta that ever exists in this game is people meming off off what they see on youtube. I also hope the glitch is fixed, but I was actually just talking about dealing with magic in general, I had to look up the glitch you were talking about lol
@@ofcatarina they're mentioning the glitch where you use glinstone scrap to greate magic arrows on yourself, and then use the Parry, and that for some reason makes MULTIPLE swords that are invisible to the Host and deal shit ton of dmg, basically oneshotting most ppl, and if they dodge it you can just keep going, if that's not a glitch then idk what a glitch is

My boyfriend and I got invaded just running around doing Happy-Souls things. The invader MELTED him immediately out of my game, and was way too dodgey for my cinderblock-on-a-stick, so I panic swapped, and HAPPENED to have Beast Claw and ROCKS on the offhand, and just... spammed rock until the invader died. Some kind of mage. I dunno. I was cackling the entire time going "this is so dumb, but I think I'm going to kill him. OMG I KILLED HIM THAT WAS SO STUPID HOW DID THAT WORK???" after explaining the "dumb" strat that worked, he referred me to this video.
At 11:30 that icantation is Law of Regression and it's used to basically nullify and cure any status effect including buffs for him and everyone around him, it was used as a counter to the glitchy fie deadly sin death blight stuff but it's also used to debuff the opponent instantly.
Bestial Sling is the ONE spell I've faced that even though I know my enemy has it, I cannot consistently dodge it; It just comes out so fast and the projectile speed perfectly fucks my roll timing up if the enemy mixes it in with weapon combos. This game is more broken than Dark Souls 1 which is REALLY saying something. (I'm also loving it like DS1 lol)
Same, hard to dodge but normally its like getting hit by little pebbles. I dread the day I come across a purple chad who caves in my skull with throwing rocks
@@thenoblepoptart Yeah true, it usually doesn't hit for much damage, but if you're invading a gank squad, one person with it is enough to stagger you for a second and let some Ultra Greatsword bastard get a swipe on you or something lol, in a duel it's annoying at most but hardly ever deadly.
@@ReaperCaliber my friend uses it with dual antspurs with bloodhounds step on them. He also spams sorceries. In DS2, he would wait until you were close to him, use force, and poke you with ice rapiers. It's annoying lol
Yeah I've been using it with little requirements to make people reflex roll. They usually roll too late when hit, and buffer a roll that I can use to roll catch with spinning slash. It's great even when it doesn't do much damage

All the cool weapons in this game, but I just love my long sword. Hard to deal with spears and stuff, so I’m really happy bestial sling helps with those match ups. Love me some pocket rocks
use the default Weapon art. the stance + light attack is quick, shatters blocks and shields, but has low range, and does like 3x damage and poise of a light attack. the Heavy does 5x. No clue why everyone simps for unsheathe when this is comparable.

I love the fact that this game has so many berserk references. As soon as I found that sword whip I immediately knew there was a ton of berserk inspired stuff. My build is using the vestige great shield and a big hammer, and I’m basically grunbeld, while using dragon incantations here and there. Get Blaidd’s gear, greatsword, flame grant me strength, and whatever the new red tearstone talisman is called and I’m guts. Have yet to find armor I can use to emulate the guy who uses the sword whip in the manga. Anybody have suggestions? I guess I could swap all of it onto the guts build as if he took all the gear from his opponents as he went along Edit: holy shit Maliketh armor is way better than Blaidd’s as the berserker armor. Blaidd’s still looks cool though maybe his armor would be good for golden age. Helmet could still be used for berserker armor
11:33 this incantation removes all buffs and all de-buffs from people within the vicinity, including the caster. He used it to nullify your flask, golden vow, and flame grant me strength.
Literally the bane of my existance, I just can't dodge beastial sling to save my life. The morale damage getting chipped to death by rocks is depressing.
I don't know why people treat beast sling like a meme. It has good damage for the speed & range, and it acts as one of the best spells to start chain casts with.
That Incantation the guy casts at 11:30 is called Law of Regression, it requires a 37 Int even though it's an Incantation and is used to dispel buffs. With a talisman swap and a Physick with +10 int you can actually squeeze it onto most builds that use Sacred Seals.
“Why’d that do so much?” Because the Clawmark seal actually takes strength into account, too. Two-handing the seal applies the 1.5x str multiplier just like a melee weapon would.
I feel like these are the golden days of the PvP, when everyone is new, everything is fresh but available enough. Every build works and can be busted lol

i use this on my STR build, and holy shit against casters, having this as a “pocket sand” to poke them out of their cast animations is incredible, i ain’t even put more than like 2 points into faith and it still does around 200 damage.
For those who don't know it, the spells that say something like "can be quickly cast after any action" can actually be cast mid-air. Also I don't know if this is a bug or intentional but casting Beastial Sling while high enough you instantly cast the Beastial Sling a 2nd time when you land, which does still consume FP. During regular jumps this just means double the projectiles but when jumping off higher elevations you can actually delay the "2nd cast" which could be good for roll catching.
"Greatshield, which I can't do anything about, but no one can" Well, you can counter shield-poking with Dragonbolt Blessing. It causes one-handed R1s (such as any poke from behind a shield) to deflect off when it hits you, and deflections cause them to stop blocking for quite a few frames and require a new input to resume blocking, so you can use it to hard-counter shield-poke setups, or at least force them to stop simply hiding behind it.
@@ScottJund It forces them to stop blocking for the duration, which is panic-inducing for most, assuming you don't capitalize on the initial surprise well enough to immediately take them out, and gives you more traditional options, as they're forced to roll to avoid damage. It has a 70-second duration that, if need be, you can increase with a ring; that should be enough time to deal with them in most duels. If they can successfully avoid being roll-caught by you for over a minute straight, that's less on them than it is on you, in my opinion. As with anything, a particularly smart and broadly-experienced duelist using such a lame build is going to be problematic, but it's at least /something/ you can do about it, even if it isn't a solution for 100% of the people doing it. In my experience, at least, most people who shieldpoke have no idea what to do when it abruptly stops working, and most bleed/frostbite/colossal/UGS setups are enough to capitalize on it. In invasions, rather than duels, you're screwed, but at least you aren't facing shieldpokers a frequently in that environment.

I’ve been loving my strength/faith build with beastial Incants. Not meta by any means but very fun. Nothing more satisfying than timing a perfect Beast claw or Gurranq’s claw. While beastial sling is such a good spell for keeping pressure on the enemy. To top it off all the beast spells are at a pretty low fp costs so I can focus more on leveling dmg.
"Bestial sling and beast claw are the only two good beast spells." crying irl I've got a lot of mileage out of Gurranq's Claw but only when fighting mostly melee fighters in invasions. Duels are something else entirely, you're right about it not being "good" in a focused 1v1 environment.
11:30 its Laws of Regression, and it removes everyones buffs in the AoE. Also dont think they used the bug, the animation for doing the bugged version is different. They also didnt do one of the 3 ways of setting it up, i.e. Running/Rolling/2 Catchflames. Looked like Normal combo'ed Honed Blolt tbh, i guess it didnt have sound? Idk I've been hit by silent spells a lot, honed bolt included, so probably just the game.
I just found out like 30 minutes ago that Trent(praise the sun) passed away. It was really nice to hear you concede the skill v meta argument in this vid. I would give anything to have him back and dueling with you. Fuck.
This build works so well not because people don’t know how to fight it, but because it would require a specific build to even be able to fight it. Bestial Sling has incredibly low recovery, very high rate of fire, very low FP cost, you can rapid fire it, you can delay it, you can cast it while running, it has a comparatively very un-telegraphed casting animation, and more range than the longest spear in the game. The only way I can think of to counter it if you play perfectly is with something with a good running attack and enough poise to tank a sling, a greatshield, or maybe bloodhound’s step shenanigans. The vast majority of regular builds cannot touch this build. As you’ve shown you can control range over melee users, fire it off and roll away before they can punish, and if they come in without the tools to counter this build there’s essentially nothing they can do except run around and eat rocks until they die. It’s definitely sleeper OP.
That’s what I’m saying it’s almost impossible with any type of variety to beat this build. Unless I’m just completely oblivious. You can’t press him with any melee or you’ll eat mad damage. You kind of have to take damage to even touch him. Then he can roll and repeat.

If you come back to this build for whatever reason, seriously try mixing people up with Gurranq's Beast Claw. I've caught out people so many times by making them think im going to use regular Beast Claws and in their attempt to dodge around the cone they get caught by the huge circle instead, genuinely underrated incantation IMO (though I am saying this as someone who is severely biased toward beastial incantations)
I'm really struggling to get why people think a physic effect that literally just heals you is totally ok when it's so commonly accepted we don't heal in duels, most people seemingly don't even like faith spells that do it. I wanna see peoples reactions to someone drinking a double Crimson Crystal Tear Physic in a tournament and getting all their health back out of nowhere.
It’s allowed because we’ve been allowing tears of denial since forever, and it does the exact same thing. It doesn’t heal you enough to prevent you from dying to the next hit, it’s functionally identical. Now if you’re not coming from previous DS game with tears of denial and Elden Ring is your start, then I can see why that would seem wrong.
What mr. Delythyx says, a perfectly good spell but if you are using it for pvp a good player will just run away. Im just chilling at haligtree rn and i see that incant every other invasion at malenia. Is actually more common than bloodhound's step.

The incantation at 11:40 is Law of regression, a 37 INT incantation that strips ALL buffs from everyone in the area, and can't be rolled. It counters physick flasks (Use vs weightflasks for a good laugh) and perfumes, it used to coutner the sin of fire exploit when that was a thing, it can straight up remove the seppuku bleed from weapons. It is very, very handy to have.
Waterworld is considered a bad movie today but at the time it was epic and nominated for awards. The problem was it was epic because it was the most expensive movie ever made at the time, with huge sets and casting extras, and it didn’t do well enough at the box office to justify the massive expense. It marks the end of the epic practical effects blockbuster because that was the era when you started getting a lot more CGI effects which are cheaper and thus make more money.
i love that practically all kinds of builds are now actually viable in PVE,DUALS and PVP and you don't just have to be a Strength or dex build with an added gimmick
beastial sling is the most balanced shit in the game I love it, it keeps the game exciting, is viable, but not too crazy to where it doesn't allow your opponent to sometimes f word your s word up
Not sure if you know about it, but something I discovered while testing Beastial Sling is that if you jump and it on the the way up, when you land, you'll cast a second one automatically. Works best when going down a slight decline or when jumping off something (even something very low). Can be very handy in some situations. Others may have discovered it as well, but I haven't seen any vids (also haven't really looked).
Bestial Sling is like having a shotgun spread crossbow that you don't have worry about reloading basically. Really good skill to finish off opponents with especially if you wait to use it at the last minute.
And as for the whole poise thing, I think poise explicitly matters way more when your build has no real ranged options, and no status effects. So a lot of different shorter/slower weapons kinda get shafted w/o poise. The meta hierarchy seems to be turtling > range = status/cheese > short/slow weapons with poise. Which honestly isn't too far off from DKS3 but I feel that poke weapons are so much better now that ashes of war exist to alleviate their weaknesses. TBH I just want them to lower the breakpoints or buff the poise on a lot of armor sets so it's a more normalized thing and we don't all have to wear the same few armor sets to have our builds work w/o any concessions other than less damage resistance.
For the Bestial Sling at 15:25 If you check it frame-by-frame you can actually see that you threw it basically right past his shoulder, so it did miss. Hella tight hitboxes

This is exactly like in a fighting game when you go online. There's gonna be that guy who's good at his exact setup and they'll keep repeating it until you figure it out. You're basically a mini boss.

Bestial Sling is the ONE spell I've faced that even though I know my enemy has it, I cannot consistently dodge it; It just comes out so fast and the projectile speed perfectly fucks my roll timing up if the enemy mixes it in with weapon combos. This game is more broken than Dark Souls 1 which is REALLY saying something. (I'm also loving it like DS1 lol)
Same, hard to dodge but normally its like getting hit by little pebbles. I dread the day I come across a purple chad who caves in my skull with throwing rocks
@@thenoblepoptart Yeah true, it usually doesn't hit for much damage, but if you're invading a gank squad, one person with it is enough to stagger you for a second and let some Ultra Greatsword bastard get a swipe on you or something lol, in a duel it's annoying at most but hardly ever deadly.
@@ReaperCaliber my friend uses it with dual antspurs with bloodhounds step on them. He also spams sorceries. In DS2, he would wait until you were close to him, use force, and poke you with ice rapiers. It's annoying lol

Yeah I've been using it with little requirements to make people reflex roll. They usually roll too late when hit, and buffer a roll that I can use to roll catch with spinning slash. It's great even when it doesn't do much damage

All the cool weapons in this game, but I just love my long sword. Hard to deal with spears and stuff, so I’m really happy bestial sling helps with those match ups. Love me some pocket rocks
use the default Weapon art. the stance + light attack is quick, shatters blocks and shields, but has low range, and does like 3x damage and poise of a light attack. the Heavy does 5x. No clue why everyone simps for unsheathe when this is comparable.
Use on a pure faith build with the Jesus lightsaber to min max and still have long sword moveset

I love the fact that this game has so many berserk references. As soon as I found that sword whip I immediately knew there was a ton of berserk inspired stuff. My build is using the vestige great shield and a big hammer, and I’m basically grunbeld, while using dragon incantations here and there. Get Blaidd’s gear, greatsword, flame grant me strength, and whatever the new red tearstone talisman is called and I’m guts. Have yet to find armor I can use to emulate the guy who uses the sword whip in the manga. Anybody have suggestions? I guess I could swap all of it onto the guts build as if he took all the gear from his opponents as he went along
Edit: holy shit Maliketh armor is way better than Blaidd’s as the berserker armor. Blaidd’s still looks cool though maybe his armor would be good for golden age. Helmet could still be used for berserker armor

That Incantation the guy casts at 11:30 is called Law of Regression, it requires a 37 Int even though it's an Incantation and is used to dispel buffs. With a talisman swap and a Physick with +10 int you can actually squeeze it onto most builds that use Sacred Seals.

Because the Clawmark seal actually takes strength into account, too. Two-handing the seal applies the 1.5x str multiplier just like a melee weapon would.

Fast spells are the ones that give you the domination of the fight, they are way too strong and easy to use that it's not ever worth using any other
i use this on my STR build, and holy shit against casters, having this as a “pocket sand” to poke them out of their cast animations is incredible, i ain’t even put more than like 2 points into faith and it still does around 200 damage.
For those who don't know it, the spells that say something like "can be quickly cast after any action" can actually be cast mid-air.
Also I don't know if this is a bug or intentional but casting Beastial Sling while high enough you instantly cast the Beastial Sling a 2nd time when you land, which does still consume FP. During regular jumps this just means double the projectiles but when jumping off higher elevations you can actually delay the "2nd cast" which could be good for roll catching.

Well, you can counter shield-poking with Dragonbolt Blessing. It causes one-handed R1s (such as any poke from behind a shield) to deflect off when it hits you, and deflections cause them to stop blocking for quite a few frames and require a new input to resume blocking, so you can use it to hard-counter shield-poke setups, or at least force them to stop simply hiding behind it.
then they turtle and backpedal til it expires, then pressure the shit out of you so you cant cast it again

@@ScottJund It forces them to stop blocking for the duration, which is panic-inducing for most, assuming you don't capitalize on the initial surprise well enough to immediately take them out, and gives you more traditional options, as they're forced to roll to avoid damage. It has a 70-second duration that, if need be, you can increase with a ring; that should be enough time to deal with them in most duels. If they can successfully avoid being roll-caught by you for over a minute straight, that's less on them than it is on you, in my opinion.
As with anything, a particularly smart and broadly-experienced duelist using such a lame build is going to be problematic, but it's at least /something/ you can do about it, even if it isn't a solution for 100% of the people doing it.
In my experience, at least, most people who shieldpoke have no idea what to do when it abruptly stops working, and most bleed/frostbite/colossal/UGS setups are enough to capitalize on it.
In invasions, rather than duels, you're screwed, but at least you aren't facing shieldpokers a frequently in that environment.
@@genesisacevedo1095 I don't. I hate it. I wish kick was just an input instead of an ash of war. I've gone out of my way to find things that work on them - Dragonbolt Blessing is my best answer so far, and although it's not perfect, and doesn't fit into every build, it's not terrible, either.

I’ve been loving my strength/faith build with beastial Incants. Not meta by any means but very fun. Nothing more satisfying than timing a perfect Beast claw or Gurranq’s claw. While beastial sling is such a good spell for keeping pressure on the enemy. To top it off all the beast spells are at a pretty low fp costs so I can focus more on leveling dmg.

I've got a lot of mileage out of Gurranq's Claw but only when fighting mostly melee fighters in invasions. Duels are something else entirely, you're right about it not being "good" in a focused 1v1 environment.
He did say the only reason he hasn't tried that one is getting the Deathroot. He doesn't really know if it's good or not.

I'm surprised more people don't use the equip load flask, it lasts 3 mins and turns heavy roll into light roll
This build works so well not because people don’t know how to fight it, but because it would require a specific build to even be able to fight it. Bestial Sling has incredibly low recovery, very high rate of fire, very low FP cost, you can rapid fire it, you can delay it, you can cast it while running, it has a comparatively very un-telegraphed casting animation, and more range than the longest spear in the game. The only way I can think of to counter it if you play perfectly is with something with a good running attack and enough poise to tank a sling, a greatshield, or maybe bloodhound’s step shenanigans. The vast majority of regular builds cannot touch this build.
As you’ve shown you can control range over melee users, fire it off and roll away before they can punish, and if they come in without the tools to counter this build there’s essentially nothing they can do except run around and eat rocks until they die. It’s definitely sleeper OP.
That’s what I’m saying it’s almost impossible with any type of variety to beat this build. Unless I’m just completely oblivious. You can’t press him with any melee or you’ll eat mad damage. You kind of have to take damage to even touch him. Then he can roll and repeat.

If you come back to this build for whatever reason, seriously try mixing people up with Gurranq's Beast Claw. I've caught out people so many times by making them think im going to use regular Beast Claws and in their attempt to dodge around the cone they get caught by the huge circle instead, genuinely underrated incantation IMO (though I am saying this as someone who is severely biased toward beastial incantations)
He didn't use the animation skip btw, he just did the normal combo, not the roll or running one. It's just that the flame blocked your view.
I'm really struggling to get why people think a physic effect that literally just heals you is totally ok when it's so commonly accepted we don't heal in duels, most people seemingly don't even like faith spells that do it. I wanna see peoples reactions to someone drinking a double Crimson Crystal Tear Physic in a tournament and getting all their health back out of nowhere.
It’s allowed because we’ve been allowing tears of denial since forever, and it does the exact same thing. It doesn’t heal you enough to prevent you from dying to the next hit, it’s functionally identical. Now if you’re not coming from previous DS game with tears of denial and Elden Ring is your start, then I can see why that would seem wrong.

It counters physick flasks (Use vs weightflasks for a good laugh) and perfumes, it used to coutner the sin of fire exploit when that was a thing, it can straight up remove the seppuku bleed from weapons. It is very, very handy to have.

The problem was it was epic because it was the most expensive movie ever made at the time, with huge sets and casting extras, and it didn’t do well enough at the box office to justify the massive expense. beastial sling is the most balanced shit in the game I love it, it keeps the game exciting, is viable, but not too crazy to where it doesn't allow your opponent to sometimes f word your s word up
Not sure if you know about it, but something I discovered while testing Beastial Sling is that if you jump and it on the the way up, when you land, you'll cast a second one automatically. Works best when going down a slight decline or when jumping off something (even something very low). Can be very handy in some situations. Others may have discovered it as well, but I haven't seen any vids (also haven't really looked).

32:39 Frenzied burst is for shooting people in the back during invasions. Devastating when you can get the drop on people.
Bestial Sling is like having a shotgun spread crossbow that you don't have worry about reloading basically. Really good skill to finish off opponents with especially if you wait to use it at the last minute.
And as for the whole poise thing, I think poise explicitly matters way more when your build has no real ranged options, and no status effects. So a lot of different shorter/slower weapons kinda get shafted w/o poise. The meta hierarchy seems to be turtling > range = status/cheese > short/slow weapons with poise. Which honestly isn't too far off from DKS3 but I feel that poke weapons are so much better now that ashes of war exist to alleviate their weaknesses.
TBH I just want them to lower the breakpoints or buff the poise on a lot of armor sets so it's a more normalized thing and we don't all have to wear the same few armor sets to have our builds work w/o any concessions other than less damage resistance.

it's amazing in pve, but too easily avoidable in pvp. I still start out each fight with a boulder just for shits and giggles though.
For the Bestial Sling at 15:25 If you check it frame-by-frame you can actually see that you threw it basically right past his shoulder, so it did miss. Hella tight hitboxes
