    Looked like an old dry well that you found. I live in Sussex County and have a dry well that my kitchen sink, washer and basement shower and basement sink drain into. Last year the drain was backed up and found the dry well and cleaned out the line that fed it. I also have 2 septic tanks on the property one for house and one for cottage.

    You guys fared way better than Shawn at Gates Drainage in NC. He lost a whole dump truck in an abandoned septic tank in the front yard of a job he was doing! Regarding poison ivy, I just recovered from a bad bout with it. I've learned that if you wash the poison ivy oil off your skin within 4 hours using common liquid dish soap, you should be OK.

    This was probably a dry well rather than a septic. I still have one for my grey water. It is made with stone in a circle. It's probably ridiculously old so let's hope it keeps working 😂

    It seems insane to me to not be able to take water to the street.

    • @tyelandscapinganddrainage
      @tyelandscapinganddrainage  3 месяца назад +1

      We don't make the rules Emmett. Just last year we could have replaced the existing lines and run them to the street because the homeowner was 'grandfathered in' with his existing lines. This year the rule has changed.

      I'd hazard a guess that if it's in a place where it gets below freezing, it's to help prevent ice from forming in the street/gutter . I know sump pumps in my area make walking down the road in winter dangerous . Also, it might be to try to get some of the water to dissipate in the yard to help prevent it from adding to the possibly overtaxed stormwater system .

    • @tyelandscapinganddrainage
      @tyelandscapinganddrainage  3 месяца назад +1

      @MarshalBray thank you for your insights Marshall. It does go below freezing here most of the winter. Have a great evening

    Why is there a grated air vent in front of the downspout?

    • @tyelandscapinganddrainage
      @tyelandscapinganddrainage  3 месяца назад

      That’s the way we do our downspouts. It’s functional and we like the way it looks. It acts as a vent. The grate can be removed if the pipe had to be cleaned, snaked, jetted or scoped. If the pipe were to ever freeze or be blocked rain water would come out the vent.

    • @tyelandscapinganddrainage
      @tyelandscapinganddrainage  3 месяца назад +2

      Hi Pete, We always have a written agreement - contract. We have this is our agreement; The price quoted is good for 15 days and is based on a clean excavation. Finding debris underground like buried logs, boulders, stumps, concrete etc.. Will result in additional charges. Thanks and have a great day, Tom
