I've always wondered if a powerful flashlight can stop dog attacks, on the forums there are always various opinions from the so-called experts but this is the first time I've seen someone test a flashlight as a self-defense tool against a group of dogs.
This video is much more helpful than the long ramblings of the so called experts thanks for the video sir.

Hello sir. Normally I use a flashlight more powerful than this. About 3000lm or more. Or a flashlight with a lot of beam intensity like culpm1. You can try green cslpm1. Dogs seem to be more scared than the white beam. However, I never experienced big dogs because not many big dogs in my area. Thanks for watching sir 😊. Please subscribe 🙏.

like i said above, it depends on the light/lumens , i can burn retina's/eyes out literally , dogs/animals/humans are no match 1000% guranteed, it the klarus g15 has the best + longest "strobe" feature in use/mode , i'd say get at least 2000 lumens in my opioin , thanks > tom !

@@tomquirin4231 I'm not sure if your comment was directed at me because I couldn't find "your comment above" in my post.
If you are able to understand my comments you can certainly understand that my problem with the so-called experts on forums is that until now I have never seen them prove their theory.
After doing research on the Klarus G15, I don't think the flashlight is too special because even though the price is expensive, based on Zeroia review, it immediately drops to the 2000 lumen range after 30 seconds.
The Wurkkos FC12 flashlight used in this video may only be in the 1500 lumen range after 30 seconds (also based on Zeroair's testing) but the Wurkkos flashlight has a much higher beam intensity which makes it much more distracting to the eye or even more damaging to the eye than the Klarus G15.
If you prefer a flashlight with a flood light, the Sofirn IF25A is still better and cheaper than the Klarus.
Because the Sofirn IF25A is also able to reach 3800-4000+ lumens at the start and can stay at 2500-3500 lumens for more than 2 minutes before stepping down to avoid overheating and it has a higher beam intensity but of course it all depends on the ambient temperature, the quality of the battery you are using and your ability to calibrate the temperature in Anduril UI.
Out of the box with the included battery you can get 3000+ lumens without any settings but you can get the true power of the Sofirn IF25A out if you calibrate and use a better battery like Samsung battery or other well known brands.

@@yudinemesis no it was not directed to you , i was telling the channel owner weerepat .this is not a flashlight out there that has the strobe length of use , i mean it can run for 2 hrs straight(on strobe) , dogs/humans etc will be flopping like fish from seizures or retina's literally burned out of there skulls ! , it not as bad as you might read , i own one and use it on high/turbo and it does not disapoint at all , though i am looking for a quality backup , ill def. trust your words + wisdom on these certain light you speak about/of ! i will check em out and i will sub to your channel, i love talking stuff/lights , etc , thanks man + talk soon > tom !

@@tomquirin4231 You only mentioned the numbers provided by Kalrus but unfortunately many brands overestimate the specifications of their products and can even be seen as deceiving the buyers, that's why to avoid being sued they provide a small note like Kalrus which says that "their tests were done in Kalrus's lab and the actual results may be different".
Strobe mode for 2 hours is nothing special, for example, if I use the runtime provided by Wurkkos, then my Wurkkos HD15 is able to use Strobe mode for 3 hours and 30 minutes.
Independent reviewers who use testing methods and tools that comply with ANSI/NEMA standards or other scientific methods and standards are able to demonstrate the true capabilities of a flashlight and can also be used as a reference for fact-checking.
If you want to use a flashlight as a self defense tool, then you should look for a flashlight with a high beam intensity that is written in Candela (ca) units, not just looking at the number of the lumens because high beam intensity can cause more discomfort or even more significant damage to the eyes.

I was often attacked by dogs and the flashlight always saved me.
Only in two cases was it ineffective:
Once a pack of dogs met me in the woods, but it wasn't completely dark, they were numb to the beam but ran away when I activated the strobe.
Here near the house there is a free ferocious dog that seems to be immune to the torch even if powerful and with concentrated beam, it escapes only if a flood beam headlamp is used (example: Wizard Pro or Zebralight H604 or the Wizard C2 Pro Max)

Where I live dogs are one of the most prevalent threats, I have always carried a good flashlight with me but the necessity of this use has had a big influence on which one I choose over the past few years and I have needed to defend myself from dogs numerous times in otherwise safe areas. I carry a tactical flashlight into the back yard when I take the dogs out at night. We live in a part of Flagstaff that nestles against the forest, so we frequently see deer and elk in the neighborhood. Bears, mountain lions, and javelina are also seen but less commonly.
A few months ago I took the dogs out at night and a minute later I heard a mountain lion screech/roar coming from the gap between the house behind us and the next one. I played the beam in the gap and saw nothing, which suited me just fine. I collected the dogs and retreated to the house.
If I do get too personal with a bear or mountain lion, I don't want him to be able to see exactly where I am or even what I am.

I haven't used a flashlight on dogs yet. I got a couple of tactical flashlights after an encounter with a black guy that thought it wad funny to block the bicycle lane while I was riding. I tried to go around him but he only got further out into the street. I ended up stopping in front of the idiot. I grew up in a bad neighborhood in Phoenix and seen some things as a kid. I ended up using one of those things on this guy. I stared him down for a few seconds and gave him a very sharp 'What!' He got back on the sidewalk and took off after I did that.
My tactics on dogs so far has been to put something between me and the dogs and some hostile cat noises. I used the hostile cat noises on two big white dogs while out for a walk one night. They stopped dead in their tracks when I did that. While I was walking by them they kept their distance from me. Used a roll of burlap I had purchased from the hardware store on two black boxers that were bothering me while walking home. When their body language suggested that they were going to attack me, I put the burlap between me and them. The boxers became very hesitant to attack me. I then moved the burlap in front of the boxer's face to my left and held it there for a few seconds then moved it over to the boxer's face on my right and did the same to it. The two boxers took off after that. The most recent dog encounter happened along a forest road in a desert area of the Goldfield Mountains. A couple was camping out there with their two dogs. Their dogs came after me while I was walking along the forest road on my way back to my car. I just simply waited for the dogs to get close to me and stuck two trekking poles I had with me straight out in front of me. The two dogs were quite surprised by that and stopped. I held the dogs at bay with those poles while their owners came for them. Now that I see how effective bright flashlights are against dogs, I'll use it on them as well.

To be honest sir, strobe would be better. It can blind and scare dogs more effectively than just turbo. I use turbo in this vdo because my flashlight is Turbo ready. To enter strobe, I have to use the side switch. Double click on it. That takes time. However, from my experience, turbo is useable sir. Some people mention that in daytime, turbo can't stop dogs. Strobe is worse by my experience. A high-candela turbo used in short bursts is sufficient against dogs and most attackers whereas strobing disorientates the user too making you more blind to other threats and the surroundings.
Stobe is great if you are stationary and trying to defend or suppress a specific position, which is very rare for civilians to be doing. Other than that it's a gimmick.

Wagging tails mean excitement, that doesn't mean the dog is necessarily happy to see you. In the Netherlands where I live most dogs are friendly and in touch with people. When I was in Ecuador, I met with some territorial dogs like the ones in this video. I had no flashlight and just tried to move along but one dog sneaked up from behind and bit me in the leg, luckily it was a cautios little nip, not a full on bite, it still hurt and I had to back away trying to face every dog.
In different countries dogs are raised differently. Even a golden retriever can bite. I'd advise you not to try your luck, especially in a country where rabies is a thing.

And some dog owners let their dogs run freely on the road, chasing pedestrians and vehicles. When I go jogging at night, I must have a flashlight with me. It can help protect me when I face dogs on the street. And most of them on the streets have no collars. Hello sir. I always watch your channel. You are my idol. It's normal in my country that some people don't keep their dogs in their houses. I usually do night city run with my flashlights. My both hands will have flashlights. But dogs here are not quite big. Powerful flashlights can effectively stop them from chasing you. I have tried osram green with dogs. They react differently from white light. They look more scared and confused. I will try to make vdo - using green light to fend off dogs. Thanks for watching sir 😊🙏.

We have a lot of dogs here on the street too and I've been chases as well when comibg home from work on my escooter but god thats a lot of dogs on your street. Its dangerous. Owners really should be responsible and have their dogs leash if they do not have a gate to keep them inside their property. What if a kid is walking or an elderly who might not be able to defend themselves.

It's a pretty good flashlight, awesome throw for such a tiny reflector. I only wish you could do all the functions with the tail switch instead of just on/off, it would have elevated it to a whole new level.. For that reason alone I gave it to my dad and replaced it with Convoy M21B GT-FC 40 OP for medium to short range and with a C8+ CULPM1 for long range throw. It's funny how one thing can completely change the experience of a flashlight. :)
Anyways, great video as always, buddy, keep it up! :)
