- In just 5 years the BADLANDS extreme ultra-distance gravel race has established itself as one of the most grueling events in Europe. The event is approximately 800km (subject to small changes each year) with over 15,000m of elevation. The route takes you through some of the most remote and challenging places in Europe: the stunning forests of Sierra de Huétor, the deserts of Gorafe and Tabernas, the wild coasts of Cabo de Gata, the steep climbs of La Alpujarra and the highest Col in Europe, Pico Veleta (3.396m)
The concept is simple, ride unsupported from the start point in Granada to the finish point in the beautiful village of Capileira, situated in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
This short film follows Mark and Caroline's epic adventure detailing their unique experiences while undertaking this mammoth cycling event. Warning - there is some colourful language at times (and not just from Mark).

This content is spectacular, congrats Mark! Best coverage of Badlands I have seen so far!
Great video! Thanks for sharing 🙏
Cracking video!
The best Badlands’s film I’ve seen, well done both for delivering such a brutally honest account of your journey. It brought back some great memories. Amazing how quickly you forget the pain after the event. 👍💪👊
I know, the after the race I swore i'd never do the Badlands again. Now I'm trying to figure out how to do it even faster!
Brilliant film, very honest and inspiring, cheers
Many thanks
Wonderful documentation. Thank you.
Superb film, thank you and well done 👏👏
I have watched a couple of your documentaries now, i can not understand why you dont have more views. You should be easily up in the 10's of thousands of views! The production value, the videography and interviews all excellent. Keep it up
Thanks for the positive feedback. I put a lot of time and effort to make my films watchable with attention to a good edit, sound and story. Hopefully more people will find my films. Thanks again
Caroline, Mark, just fantastic. What an epic adventure. Makes me want to get back out there and do a bit. Brilliant. Well done.
Thanks Nick - you should throw your hat in the ring
Great film. And I agree that it’s the best one of Badlands. Get a really comprehensive feel for the whole journey and commitment. Does no one do it on a: flat bar aero bar combination? That’s the way I’d go I think…
Amazing video - well done and nicely filmed and edited.
Great video, quite inspirational and showed how difficult it was, fantastic
Gary, the question is have you signed up?
Awesome film and recap of the event (both pre and during) and great to see you both still enjoy the challenge and time in the pain-cave. Well done M&C!
Hope you're well Chris?
Absolutely amazing ! Hard to think of for sure, but wishing to try something slightly crazy like this 😂. Cheers.
Thanks Raffa, I hope you're fit and well back in Brazil.
@@thebricksession All good here !! Thanks Mark !
Loved that video mark, top work lad.
Thanks Craig, my only regret was not filming the final day. I was just on survival mode at that point so any additional energy expenditure was impossible for me...
You was there to complete badlands mate, had to take priority over the secondary reason, the film.
Absolutely amazing guys, you both did ace!!
Massive congratulations, and huge respect ❤❤🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🏅🏅🏁🏁🏁
Thanks very much. Do you fancy doing it?
@@thebricksession hey, I actually would love to do it, but currently way out of my league!
We’re a hobby riding couple who are just getting into gravel riding, but we are upping the training and the distances very slowly!!🚴♀️🚴♀️🏁🏁
@@m1les7 You actually have 5 days to do this, so you can actually ride 150km (ish) per day, and have a good night's sleep (local hotels/hostels) every night. This also means you don't miss any of the scenery by riding through the night. There were quite a number of riders who chose to do it this way.
@@thebricksession thanks so much for getting back to me.
Apologies for the late reply!! It’s something maybe we’d set our sights on for a couple of years ahead.
We’re currently working our way from scratch with distance in gravel, but getting there slowly and enjoying every minute!!
All the best folks ❤️🏁🏁🚴♀️🚴♀️
Really enjoyable watch, well put together and great effort from you both 👍🏻
Well done guys 👍👊epic journey . Defo on my bucket list ,sick off triathlons like you guys and this kind off thing appeals .
Gravel is the new triathlon...
Probably one of the best Badlands edits I've seen. Great to see the preparation side. The footage and drone shots are epic, I can't imagine riding and taking the time to film at the same time. Are your jerseys available to buy?
Thanks for the comments. I try my best to create a film with a story and not just go-pro footage of the route with a few pieces to camera. Please share the film with your friends.
Los pedrolos, without a doubt the worst bit of badlands by a countrymile 😂
Badlands is not a race. There is no prize for finishing first but there is a prize for finishing.
That was just incredible viewing. Very honest and brilliant account of an epic event. Congratulations on an incredible achievement and capturing it on film. This is a must watch. David and Nia. DCTRIATHLON.
