- As I did with my other bag system I added some Biochar as an amendment that will be added to my soil. Hopefully the Biochar will absorb some of the great nutrients from the worm castings and become a beneficial microbial environment inside the Vermibag max before I add it to my yard outside.

Great looking system! I'm also a tea drinker and I think tea behaves differently in a worm bin. It's not a fermented, ground bean but the leaves of a plant. The only thing it has in common with coffee is they are both hot beverages! I put all my loose tea leaves in my word bin, including chai spice tea and the worms take care of them super fast.

Good to know about carrots being dry. I just found an almost full bag of baby carrots that got lost in the back 40 of the fridge that had gone slimy. I tossed them into the freezer for the next feeding. I’ll add more water than usual with them.
Carrots have a lot of sugars which the worms love but I find them to have less water than some other items. Good idea to ad d a bit more than what you normally add.
It has been a weird spring here too. Very dry. We had almost 2 weeks in mid 90f. Today it's 65 and rainy. I have never tried biochar this will be interesting to watch.
This is my first test with biochar but I keep hearing it is amazing stuff so I'm hopeful that this is going to end up really help the soil in my yard which is 90% clay and 10% rocks
Ya might need to include an icepick in your worm farming tools collection... haha!
🤣🤣🤣
I might as I have been using a bit of water to get all the leftovers out of the containers.
This is cool, I was just watching one of your bokashi videos two years ago. And you were having problems with your chicken bones. So I was going to suggest a retort system. But I see that you have one already. I have some of the same interest
I don't have one yet but I'm looking at maybe building one. Only issue is I really need a small one as I can't have some large 55 gallon drum system in my yard.
If there is no ingredient its charcoal nothing more
You are correct. In this case it was purchased biochar so it technically is biologically active. But I have not confirmed, so I'm trusting the company.
