  • Long time between updates and wow the worms are still alive and the castings look amazing. If it was Spring I would have wanted to harvest the entire vermibag with how perfect the castings seemed to be. With it being winter I added more food, some Vitamix Foodcycler output, and water and covered it back up!

    That shredded paper and crumbled charcoal will give those worms an incredible carbon boost, Noel. I imagine they need everything at this point - moisture, nitrogen rich foods and carbon. Amazing to see how well they are doing!

    you'll be missing half the volume once you harvest those castings. Glad the worms made it.

    I had one of those. It was great, but it did create a lot of flies and it was indoors in my mud room. So, I had to get rid of it. Maybe I should have tried just putting it outside, but I heard you could have mice/rats get into it. But a great system otherwise!
    As a family of 6 we go through 2 gallons of food scraps a week, so it was always full!
