I think you're exactly right; you had a leak somewhere in the torch head. I like to measure Ar flow right at the cup using a little "peashooter" flowmeter ($10 - $15 from Amazon). If it reads lower than the regulator, I know to look for a leak.

There's one or two more. But they are much more expensive.
Its actually your gas lens... Had a similar problem with Amazon Cup Kit... Need a Furick...
I'm fairly certain its from mixing quality and cheaper consumables. Furicks are nice but overpriced. The modern and cheaper alumina and ceramic cups function just as well as furicks.
Do you still use or recommend the Lincoln Mini Fume X ?
100% yes. It has held up very well
Does it control amperage just like the footpedal?
Yes, it has three setting, 30%, 60%, and 100%

I'm sorry but I don't quite understand. Are you asking should argon continue to flow after you release the button?
You are varying the amperage with your finger control, not voltage. Same with your plasma cutting video. The knob adjusts amperage, not voltage. I think i would prefer a slide type control? Thanks
