With every video you make i am more and more impressed with my Titanium! As you know by now with all my comments, i simply love my Titanium. It's the 1st welder i ever bought, all the welder i need for around my property and thanks to you and your RUclipss i owe it all to you brother. Lol I recently had some sheetmetal crack on my riding lawnmower, and i was happy it did so i could bring out the welder! Next I'm ordering the clear tip kit you have been mentioning.

to avoid the weld pit at the end of the weld circle the weld with your torch and lift away at the same time... thanks for the reviews on these machines

hi Mike I bought a Titanium 200 and for tig it works great!
I'm taking a 2 credit Tig class this Sem. and that's on a miller 200 dynasty.
its real easy to make the adjustment to the titanium with scratch start from the pedal.
I'm practicing on 1/16th " mild steel, I have the unit set at 60 amp.s, inductance at 6 and
100%argon gas at 18 cfh.
I am very happy with this machine.
I upgraded to the gas lens, pyrex cups and am using 1/16th" grey tungsten.

I just bought a AC tig welder and I was able to lay some fairly nice looking Aluminum welds right out of the box! I will post a video soon of tig welding aluminum! Take care :)
My heart sank at the end when you said no aluminum, then I got a little hopefully again with your add in about the spool gun.
I own the titanium spool gun. It works great. But it takes a LOT of practice. I'm still not very good at it.

Thanks :) yes I TIG is a nice extra tool to have around the shop, I just picked up a Ac TIG with high-frequency, it’s surprisingly easy to weld aluminum with! I have quite a few aluminum projects to weld up soon. Take care!
Mike, for someone who says you don’t know much about welding, you’re doing some pretty good welds. You know, it’s all practice. The pink cups are fine though. If someone has problems learning with them, it’s a problem, because they’re standard. It will be harder to learn going forward if you get used to Pyrex cups in the beginning.

Ps I just got side tracked though, I had been keeping a eye out for a small suv, and I just picked up a 93 Suzuki sidekick 4 door, it has a oil leak that I’m fixing right now, but it’s in fairly good shape for $1000. I think it’s going to take up a little of my time, I definitely didn’t need another project but I’m a sucker for useful little 4x4s. Take care Joe :)
@@Mikefestiva I recently picked up another Toyota pickup for a project. Its when I have extra time. Its a bit of a unicorn...a 1986 Toyota Turbo 4x4 extra cab. That thing has balls. I'm in the middle of bench marking it. I need to trust it. belts, hoses, gaskets, blah, blah, blau. You understand. Those sidekicks are tough as nails. Good price too!. Anything beats a car payment. I just finished replacing the head on my 1993 Toyota pickup today. Runs like a watch. Cylinder #3 intake valve seat came out of the head casting. What are the odds???

Great welding there Michael. If those green Hi-temp O rings are Viton or similar, be sure to read the warnings about very nasty Hydrogen fluoride release at temperatures above 300 °C (570 °F). I remember reading about the dangers after a car had been on fire.
Hey Mike. Awesome as usual. A trivial question .... the dimensions of the T 200. It shows on HF website as the same as V220. So they must be in the same size carton when they say “product”. The T200 is clearly smaller. The website shows the clear weight difference though. Thanks.
OK. Should not have bothered Mike. I stopped by HF after teaching a class and here are the footprint dimensions of these two welders:
Titanium 200. 8.5” x 19”. Say 9 x 19 to be safe.
Vulcan 220 11.5” x 20.5”. Say 12 x 21 to be safe.
These numbers are strictly the footprint and does not count protrusions of cables etc from the front.
The numbers shown in the HF web site wile do show weight differences must be the shipping box.
I can’t remember if the actual shipping box was smaller with the Titanium 200? But the two welders are definitely a lot different in size, plus they each come with different components in there boxes, I thing there’s about 20# different between the two welders alone. Take care 🙂

I saw that you did the scratch start on the Titanium. I have a new Titanium and my user manual says it is touch and lift to start the arc. I haven't used it yet. Thanks for the great videos. Gonna try to learn to tig weld. Getting my garage set up with 240v 50amp supply right now.
How has the titanum multiprocess been holding up since this video? im looking to purchase either it or the vulcan, and was wondering now that you have had some time with each, how they stack up today, and which you would recommend overall. For me is probably going to be more a garage machine, portability isnt going to be a big deal because i'd either have to also take the tanks or use flux only, and i've got the easy flux 125 and love it, i purchased it largely based on your reviews, worth every penny, and HF even honored a coupon that came out a couple of weeks after i got it, so got some money back. With the current coupons they only have $120 separating them. From what i have seen i'd lean more vulcan for that price difference. But value the opinion of someone with both and to know how the unlimited has held up.

Use your filler rod to flick the tungsten to light up, helps keep yup off the tip.
What you were experiencing with the contamination probably wasn't so much the gas or the cup. With TIG the cleaner you can get your metal and your filler wire the better, it was most likely silica from the filler wire. Not a big deal scotch Brite and rubbing alcohol on your filler wire well take care of most of that. Plus keep your filler wire in the gas coverage area and when you take it out clip your ends before welding with it again. If you liked the Pyrex style cups you should try a jumbo Pyrex cup i prefer those for wider gas coverage. Great videos by the way thanks for your time.

I made this video when I was just starting out learning how to TIG, now I know Clean clean clean is extremely important when it comes to TIG welding.
I really appreciate the advice with stick too.
I’m now able to TIG weld Steel and Aluminum really well, there’s always room for improvement but it’s really nice to have that skill for bigger projects.

@@Mikefestiva no problem. I'm a welder by trade. Didn't wanna come off as a douche or anything just trying to give a few tips. Didn't really see how old the video was either, but was interested in finding out what the reviews were on the Vulcan welding machines. I want something that's not gonna break the bank and that has a range of different functions. It doesn't appear to be that bad of a machine almost like the esab that I'm looking at as well just half the price. Thanks again for the videos they're really informative.

If you flick the filler metal off of the tungsten and base metal at the same time you don't need to lift or scratch start.

I've really been enjoying your videos. I have been teaching myself to weld with a Titanium 125. Looking to take a welding course at a local vocational school this summer. Moving up from the Titanium 125, which of these two welders would you recommend? They both seem like good boxes for a hobbyist/DIY/Fixit guy... I just weld stuff around the house, or occasionally make repairs to a utility trailer. I think I may be leaning towards the Vulcan just as it seems to do the same tasks, just a little "easier" if that makes sense. Your thoughts?
4 years later, what are your thoughts for a poor guy(me) which would you say is the better buy or any “other better buy” to start learning welding, i want to become a all around welder but more tig welder?
Only down fall for me is wanting to weld aluminum automotive intake tubes and exhaust, thanks for the info at the end of this video, they both didn’t say they aluminum weld BUT nor do they say they DONT aluminum weld on advertising… something someone who hasn’t had the chance to learn tig wouldn’t know..🙏
They weld aluminum just fine. I have a 205. Use 220v for best performance. Also there is a learning curve as well. But yes they work.

Just got this Vulcan and wanted to get into Tig with it as well. So I'm curious as to what torch I can get. Hopefully a nicer brand one will work?
Just a heads up. The Titanium 200 is not a scratch start TIG. Its a lift start, you can touch the tungsten to the work piece and when you lift off the work piece it'll create the arc.
Yes it’s advertised as lift but mine works better as scratch, I have not been impressed with this lift start on the Titanium. The Yeswelder I got recently has a much better lift start. Thanks for checking out my video 👍
Try scratch start your tungsten with you wire. Doesn't sound practical but if you get used to it really save the point on tungsten. As always I've enjoyed the video. Welds looking great.
I went online and checked the Titanium, the owner's manual says it WILL Tig weld Aluminum .(This the primary reason folks buy Tig......ie to weld Aluminum!!!)

I really think you got the aluminum spool gun option mixed up with your search results.
Best way to weld Al is with AC current, needs pulsating electricity. This is a DC machine, it will MIG Al or add a spool gun for Al. And may be possible to TIG Al.(Says DC TIG on machine)All Al welds from this machine will be rough & ugly.Not the machine to buy for Al welding.
I have the titanium 200 and I got it without a tig torch , long story. So do I have to get the one that comes with it or is there another one that will work.

check out the primeweld 225 runs $775. a/c - d/c tig / mma it comes complete with foot pedal . I bought one and boxed up everything but the mig torch on my Titanium . For no more then what it cost you won't believe the difference . And don't throw away your pink ceramic cups , you'll still need them getting into tight spaces .
I have the primeweld 225x its nice machine just need. Alot of practice. Im a beginner looking to lay down some good beads soon lol its harder than it looks

@@kenneth6731 the primeweld and alpha tig are about the same i think the primeweld is better probly has more settings. Its a big fancy machine. Iseen the fab forums fabrication vid on youtube and iwas happy with the review he gave it. its just a good ac dc machine that can lay some good welds. I bet the alpha tig will do the same. Ilike it alot i just got to get more practice its easy to use very good welder.
Just one minor correction DC is actually superior to AC for aluminum welding. The penetration is a lot deeper and you don't have to cut a v groove. So you can be more productive and weld thicker pieces in one pass. Just switch your gas to pure helium, it burns hotter. Again I know you're quick to call people trolls but this is not trolling. Please make a video of it and see. It's harder to weld dimes but if you're good you can

I my self am not interested in buying a tank of helium to make a video on this because I own a AC TIG welder and a bottle of argon but if you have a video of welding DC and Helium or would be interested in making a video I would be interested in seeing your results.
@@Mikefestiva no I saw a video on other channels especially the one on weld.com's channel. The welds came out really good just like yours with steel. I think of you search something like a "DC aluminum TIG" you'll see it. I was just curious because I have the same exact omnipro 220

I enjoy watching your vids on demos,they are very informative. I bought the mig max 140 for a 120v welder to run off a generator/household outlets. I don't need a 220 mig feature as I have a snap on YA2112 230amp(don't hate me lol) now I'm in the market for a tig welder. My question is is there a difference between the features of the omnipro 220 tig part as apossed to the protig 165? I can return the 140 and for $316 upgrade to the 220,as for the stick I'm going to buy a stand alone one. I just don't want a computer controlled software driven welder that could potentially stop working and I'm out the 120v mig side of it. The 140 is very simple as appears the 165 is as well. Thank you for any info you can offer me!!

Hey Joe don’t worry about it, I remember seeing that before on my Omnipro flash on the screen for a few seconds after turning off the power switch, I cannot say for sure but it could be a voltage thing? I don’t think I saw it as much when welding on 240? I never had a problem that came of it. Ps I have pushed it hard on a couple of long 14 gauge extension cords welding up at my mill, it would start a arc weld for about 2 seconds then stop welding then spool out about a foot of wire, it never caused a problem to the welder, it must have internal power protection when the voltage gets to low it just stops the arc. I hope this info puts you at ease, not to worry about it. Take care :)
Great Job, the video I was waiting for... Lots of extra good info for beginners too. I know you said they don't sell a pedal for the Titanium but my question is does it even have the electrical connector for a pedal? Or did they just never intend for this machine to have the capability?
Good question, It has a 5 wire electrical connection on the front, Two wires are for the mig button switch, the other two are for the 24 volts to run the spool gun motor, the fifth connection is for who knows? I would think it would need at least one more contact to be able to run a peddle? 6 not 5? I'm going to look into the connection on the front some more. Take care

Mike, like I said in another comment to you. I’m a newbie at welding. I was looking at the Titanium MIG170 and now I’ve started looking at the Titanium UNLIMITED 200. I’m not really sure if TIG welding is in my future or not, but it would be great to have that ability in store. So my question is. Would I be better off spending the extra $200 for the UNLIMITED 200 and have TIG if I ever really decide to use it?

Hey Stan I would say if it’s not to far out of your price range buy the 200, you may find a time where you want to TIG weld? But if it’s not in the budget for you just go with the 170. If you really don’t think you need or are interested in the TIG and Stick that $200 would buy you a smaller drill press or a 6” wide belt sander? Ps if you buy the extended warranty ask about tool upgrades, I bought a large table top disc sander, they talked me into the warranty because they said it was also good for upgrades, about 3 months later I decided there was something I didn’t like about the disc sander, took it back and upgraded it to a 6” belt/ disc sander, 100% purchase price credit to the newer sander, I just needed to pay the difference. Think about it. Take care 🙂

Your link for the Pyrex cups doesn’t work anymore. Can someone point me in the right direction of what size cups to get for the titanium
Typical torch brazing rods will probably work with tig, but the problem is more with the fact that the zinc (I think. could be one of the other metals) in them vaporizes and can be inhaled. This is generally not good for you.

I have the Omni Pro and I really like it, I have not tried to Tig I want to however I need to pull the trigger on the gas, so far I have only used the flux core. With with true mig I would need a mixed gas argon/C02 vs 100% C02 for tig. I am a new hobbyist with welding.
Trying both of these will require two bottle leases if you had to go with only one gas bottle would you go the Tig route or the Mig?
Yes MIG requires ether 100% C02 or what I prefer C02/Argon mix this welds cleaner. I would recommend you get that tank first, TIG requires 100% Argon gas, I think you would probably get the most use out of the MIG shielding gas first, TIG is nice to learn but I find MIG to be the most practical in most applications. @mikefestiva I am looking at purchasing one of these as a Christmas present, how have they held up against each other over the past year? Do you prefer one over the other? Is the 130+ presets on the Vulcan worth the extra $$, since you still have to buy additional accessories such as the tig gun? -- his fiancé
Good question, I had ran the Vulcan for over a year before selling it and buying a TIG welder, it was a great welder, but for me I found the Titanium 200 fit my needs better because it was lighter and easier to pack in the vehicle and move around for jobs.
The Vulcan Omnipro 220 has a lot of options the Titanium does not have. Both are good welders, I really like my Titanium 200 but they have raised the price a little on them. I would say ether are good but if you spend a little more on the Omnipro I think he will be happy with the Vulcan Omnipro 👍 The TIG torch and Amp pedal can come later. He will be able to MIG and Stick weld right out of the box. Other then needing a Argon CO2 gas bottle. Take care and I hope this helps 🙂

On the volcan You can hook the TIG gas up to the spool gas valve on the front instead of the bottle and it works perfectly push the pedal gas come on let off shuts off like it should don’t have to use the manual valve on on the torch
How about post flow? If it cuts off as soon as the pedal is off could definitely be an issue for the Tungsten oxidation.
Good to know though.
Yeah not the best post flow but does stay on long enough to double tap the pedal to let it flow as much as you want without an arc

I ordered that gas lense set to try out. As I mentioned before my machine wont be arriving for a week or so. I am assuming that the clear gas set will fit the vulcan 205 tig torch? Even though you are talking about the 200 or 220 I forgot.
Mike I could use your help! First of all I just subscribed. You are my go to for beginner welder info. I’ve been stick welding since I was 15 years old and really want to step my game up. I’m trying to decide between the titanium 200 and the Everlast 200E(MIG only). The mult function of the titanium is pulling me in that direction.the warranty being the major down fall.the Everlast has a 5 YEAR warranty parts and labor. And advice would be greatly appreciated. Do you have any experience with the Everlast brand? Do you plan on doing any videos comparing them? Thanks in advance for the help.
Thanks for checking out out my videos I really appreciate it! I really like having a multi process welder, they are great if you still want to stick weld sometimes, I really don’t like stick welding ( I learned years ago on stick) but I do use it from time to time. Ether way you go you will really like owning a newer inverter welder, they are much more crisp, stick, MIG or TIG they just weld really nicely. I have owned my Titanium 200 for 19 months now without any problems so far, the ground clamp is cheap and should be changed out with a better one, other then that it’s a good machine, the Titanium spool gun is also good quality especially for the price. I have never owned any Everlast welders but I have had many people tell me they really like there’s.
Ps I have only heard of two people with Vulcan Omnipro 220 welders having problems, so far zero people have left comments about any Titanium welders burning up yet. I get hundreds of comments a month so Time will tell but mine has been rock solid. Take care

Yes I think the titanium 170 is pretty much the same as the 200 when it comes to MIG but without the TIG and stick built it. I really like my Titanium welder. I’m sure if your looking for a good MIG machine you would be happy with the 170 👍
i got a question...do you remember what clear cup and diffuser you are running? i have been looking on Amazon for the parts, but none of them look right. I just picked up a titanium 200.

It can't do aluminum? That's a major bummer. I have much more to understand about TIG welding. I was considering the Titanium welder for doing aluminum TIG welding. Granted, a spool gun can be hooked up. If that's the case, I'm probably better off with the straight MIG welder. I don't think I ever had to stick weld, but things often change. Thank you for the video.
I don't think he's correct. I'm looking online and hearing different. I know how to tig myself but had the machine always set for me. By no means a professional.

Hey Greg thanks for checking out my video 👍 yes Vulcan consumables fit the Titanium, you also can buy Lincoln consumables from Home Depot and they fit these, basically most MIGs run the same style 👍

I’m not sure why you are talking about, both welders have hookups for SG
These are old videos and at the time HF took about a Year to release the SG for each model.
I noticed it looks like you aren't using any push or pull angle which would expect why you couldn't see your tip.

Harbor freight treats the welders like they do the tools. Get the Warranty and it's a no-hassle return from what I was told. Now if you do return because you don't like it or some goofy reason. You'll end up paying a re-stock fee. But if it's broke and won't work right then you can either return it and get a new machine or get your money back and that's supposed to be without a re-stock fee. But check your local dealer. I get mixed stories but for the most part, they are all consistent on what they say.
I only speak little English ... and my knowledge of welding is simple ... but in the end, what would you advise me to buy a Vulcan or Titanium? I don't care about price, I care about performance and usage

I just bought an entire Harbor Freight MIG 170 setup (cart, gas tank, gas, helmet, gloves, wire, everything) for $680, I think it was a great deal, but now I'm seeing this Titanium unlimited with TIG, I almost would rather have that! TIG seems like soldering, which I'm more accustomed with...seems like you get a lot more control, although maybe it takes a lot longer overall to perform TIG welding. The TIG joints just look so much cleaner without spatter at all..
Is it possible to TIG with the Titanium MIG 170 if you have a TIG gun?
Thanks for checking out my video 👍 TIG welding is definitely nice, the 170 is only a MIG, the 200 is a MIG, TIG and Stick welder, the way MIG works even if you get a TIG torch the welder won’t put out the right voltage to work, one possibility is you probably could trade the 170 back in at HF as long as you haven’t had it for long and buy up to the 200? The 200 comes with a TIG torch 👍

I would recommend hanging onto your 170, and down the road look into buying a separate TIG welder, they are a lot of affordable ones on the market, you probably could get a simple TIG for about $250, keep in mind a TIG in that price range would be a DC TIG and only able to weld stainless steel and steel, if you want to weld aluminum you would need a AC/DC TIG machine.

I see you doing a lot of testing with the titanium 200 I have one as well Warning to tig with it noticed something weird in the factory directions when you get it it obviously hooks up to the tank in has a mechanical Valve for the Gas M the directions I have it shows that it hooks up to the gas valve inside the welder plugs in to the port for the spool gun does anyone else have these directions I know there is a spool gun you can get on Amazon that works with this machine I'm wondering if you can get a TIG torch that works like the vulkan

Yes one welder is scratch start the other is lift start, that’s all you get with these machines, of course one would use HF if it’s available on the machine, but not all welders have that capability. Ps for anyone welding projects around there house I think scratch or lift start works fine.
@@Mikefestiva if you use the opposite side of filler to spark. Then flip it over and use clean side to continue to weld. I learned this from Jody on welding tips and tricks. Nice welds by the way.
@@Mikefestiva I seen HF has the cheaper Chicago Electric tig/stick 165Amp machine with HF start, I just bought the Titanium Unlimited 200 but am going to pick up argon tank tomorrow to try out the tig welding, I thought this had HF start or at least lift start as well going by the price tag.. oh well. If I had known I would of bought the Mig 170 and 165A Tig/stick for the same total price ($700 with coupons) as the 200 - which would of gave me HF start and a foot pedal.
Hey Mike, another question for you. Great reviews by the way! I was looking pretty hard at the Titanium 200 then I came across the Amico 205 multi process welder. Maybe you haven't used the 205, but which brand seems to be better quality. Would you go with an Amico for 600 or the Titanium is on sale for $679 I believe. Another thought was to go with the Amico plasma cutter and then a stand alone Mig machine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

A question I have that I haven't found an answer for yet is does the omnipro have a pulse setting for tig?
No the Omnipro doesn’t have pulse settings. It’s just a really simple DC lift TIG, the only thing that sets this apart from some of the other basic DC TIG is this one can run an amp pedal with it.
The PROTIG 205 it just a TIG/ Stick welder. The PROTIG is an AC/DC TIG with Pulse and a lot of other settings 👍

Thank you so much for the response! Initially looking at everlast multi process welders but like as you say... gonna "try to do more with less" great philosophy.

Yes the Omnipro is a great MIG with basic stick and TIG features.
The ProTig 205 is a full featured AC/DC TIG with basic Stick as well.
The ProTig TIG welds aluminum, steel and Stainless steel really well 👍

Hey Chris good question, when I started this series I really liked the Omnipro, I had it for about 9 months before I bought the Titanium 200 so I really didn’t think the T200 would be on the same level. After running both welders for months together I found the T200 fit my needs better because it’s lighter weight, more compact and was a few hundred dollars less.
The Omnipro had a lot more features and is a really solid welder, but I found I could live without all the extra stuff in trade for the portability of the T200. If you are completely new to welding the Omnipro walks you through the process of what terminals you connect your leads too and the auto set is really nice. The T200 comes with a little card that shows you the same things it’s just not on the screen like the Omnipro. One other thing, the T200 comes with a TIG torch but there’s no amp control pedal available for it ( I personally don’t feel it’s a deal breaker for me) The Omnipro doesn’t come with the TIG torch or pedal, they have to be bought separately, so that adds extra cost. @@Mikefestiva thank you. I grew up in a family excavation business and have done a lot of stick welding which I am very good at. I want to get into mig i have done it a couple times but my guess is that will be my main type of welding once i learn. i just finished building myself a garage with a car lift. i do all my own mechanical stuff so its just for me not a business I just want something for myself and will mainly use it in the garage. i love to fix and putter.

Unfortunately no, this is an DC TIG, you need an AC TIG welder for aluminum.
These two welders can weld aluminum with an optional spool gun 👍
So I bought the titanium-due to budget concerns- and I wanna know- can I put an after market pedal on this? Or even a trigger for the TIG torch? Would it work if I put one on here?
So far theres nothing released that's a plug in pedal or a stinger with a button. Not sure if others have modded something along the lines.

the 5 pin socket is for the mig wire feed only. for tig you set the amps by the panel and scratch start the weld.

I can’t remember but I do know I only run Gray and Blue Tungsten, so it was one or the other 👍
