    I really enjoy these question and answer videos. For the most part they are questions I didn't realize I needed the answers to. Thank you.

    Ok Trevor, my friend! When are you going to put up the merchandise with that new logo in your store? I've looked in all available locations of the store and don't see it! I need new T's, hoodies, stickers and a coffee cup! 😊

    Hello Trevor!!
    Another excellent video and I just watched your review of the ‘cheap’ airbrush.
    And thank you for answering my previous questions, but I have new questions now. Here we go;
    I put my airbrushes away for the summer months cuz I have bikes to ride and gardening and blah blah. Now it’s cold and i don’t like riding street bikes or dirt bikes when it’s cold. I dug out the airbrushes and I lost skills and knowledge. When I put the airbrushes away in March, my airbrush hand was giving cramping and carpal tunnel (?) issues. I did some research online and found a few exercises that helped. Do you have any specific exercises you do?
    Assuming you don’t bend a needle or smash a nozzle tip, how many hours do you get from a needle and nozzle tip?
    Should the needle and nozzle tip be replaced at the same time?
    And should I keep the needle and nozzle tip as a dedicated pair? Sometimes my nozzle will plug up and it’s needs to set in Createx restorer, so I grab another nozzle and away I go. Is it harmful to mix and match?
    My go to airbrush is a Badger Renegade Velocity. I put an aftermarket MAC valve on it. Sometimes I am lazy and do feel like walking over to the compressor and adjusting the air pressure and I make air pressure adjustments with the MAC valve. Any comments?
    I am a Badger guy. I have 2 bottom feed Badger airbrushes that got me started, then an Omni 4000 that use for blasting and flooding things in. And of course the Renegade Velocity. I am thinking about purchasing a Sotar, a Patriot 105, or a Renegade Krome. I really don’t need a fine tip, a .3 or .5 is good enough for me. All I do is flames and crazy designs on helmets and mailboxes. I am also artistically challenged, I airbrush for fun and the more time I am in the garage in the winter preserves my relationship…..wink wink.
    Thanks for the time you spend creating your videos.
    Tony

      Hey Tony! Airbrushing is a perishable skill. If we don't use it often, we get rusty. It will come back. It just requires time with the brush in your hand again.
      I have never used any exercises for my hand(s). One of the big issues I see frequently is people tend to hold onto the airbrush with a death grip, especially when they're new. Obviously, that can lead to pain in the hand and likely other issues. I remember experiencing the same thing years ago. I would literally have to tell myself (sometimes in my head, sometimes out loud) to relax my hand over and over and over. Repeatedly telling myself to relax my grip and forcing myself to do just that eventually led to it being muscle memory and at some point, I didn't have to think about it anymore.
      A needle and nozzle will last the life of the brush provided the user doesn't damage one or both. I'm pretty sure I've changed every needle out in the airbrushes that I use frequently because accidents happen. I've dropped my airbrushes. I've run the needle into the surface I'm painting on. The tip of the needle is not hard to bend. The nozzle tip normally survives unless the brush has been dropped based on my own experience. So, it is not necessary in my opinion to replace both if only one is damaged. The same applies to your example of using another nozzle while one is soaking in Restorer. If the airbrush is still working properly there's no reason to be concerned.
      Personally, I don't use the MAC valve on any of the airbrushes I own that came equipped with one. I'm not knocking using the valve either. I can see how it is advantageous to someone that learns with one. When I started airbrushing a little over thirty years ago, I don't think the MAC valve existed for our application. If it did, it wasn't well known. I gradually learned to make small air pressure adjustments simply by varying the down pressure on the trigger with my finger while using the tool. That is not an easy thing to learn because it requires keeping the down pressure consistent while also rocking the trigger back and forth to control paint flow. Again, I can see how it would be an advantage to learn with the MAC valve, I'm just used to the way that I've done it for nearly thirty years. I have tried adjusting the MAC valve a few times and found I was still manually adjusting the pressure with my finger without even realizing I was doing so. So, I just stick with what I know and what works for me.

      @@wickedartstudio Hey Trevor;
      Thanks for answering my questions and I have follow up questions.
      When you are using Createx colors that are used in high volume, are you buying them in 2oz, 4oz, 8oz bottles.
      Any comments on putting the Createx white and 4011 in a sealed cup and constantly adding the paint and 4011 to keep the batch going and fresh?
      What Createx white division (wicked air, or opaque, etc ….) causes the least issues?
      I agree that if you are not spraying all the time you lose skill, but it comes back fast.
      I don’t think I am doing the death grip to the airbrush, it I am trying more to stretch the hand more often.
      I like to make things difficult for me. When I lay done pinstripe tape to create a panel, i usually go awry when doing straight lines. Soooooo, I am going to index and secure a helmet to a lazy Susan. The. I will use my laser level to illuminate a line, then either directly apply the tape or transfer the line with a pencil. I can stack things under the laser level to adjust height and go vertical or horizontal. Am I crazy
      Thanks;
      Tony

      @@Exitwoundstudio Hey Tony! I apologize for the late reply on this one. I normally purchase all of my Createx paint in 16- or 32-ounce bottles simply because I go through a lot of paint (Illustration colors are purchased in 8-ounce bottles because that's the largest they come in). I generally mix enough paint for what I'm doing (spray gun versus airbrush). If I run out, I just mix another batch (keep it simple).
      In my personal opinion, I think the Illustration Opaque White has the least issues as far as spray ability is concerned.
      Using a laser to project a straight line onto a surface in order to tape it off could work; however, I think you'll run into issues doing that on a curved surface.

      Hey Trevor….
      Thanks again for getting back to me again. I am deep into biking for a few more months, but I did a little airbrushing just kicks a few weeks ago. When it gets below 40, the street bike gets put away. When it gets below 30, the dirt bikes get put away. So I got a few more months…
      Thanks again;
      Tony.

    Great video as always Trevor.. I have a problem that I hope you can help me with, I painted a football stadium on a helmet and i had to mask off parts to paint the other part but I left the masking tape on there for a couple of weeks as I fell ill, but know back in my studio to remove masking and it has left the glue off the masking on my painted surface how would you go about removing the glue without damaging the paint work..? I am using createx illustration line.. Thank you..

      That's a tough one. For starters, I hope you're using a quality masking tape designed for custom automotive applications. The only tapes I use are 3M Automotive Refinish, 3M Automotive Performance, 3M Precision and FBS tapes. Even though those tapes are designed for custom paint, leaving them on a surface for extended periods of time can still leave adhesive residue on your painting surface. You can try wiping the surface with a solvent based wax and grease remover. How aggressive you can wipe the surface depends on your artwork. Be careful in areas where the paint was applied very lightly. It won't be difficult to remove paint if you get too aggressive. In areas where the paint foundation is more solid you can be more aggressive. Hopefully you can salvage your work and avoid having to repaint or repair it.

      Thanks for the reply Trevor and I apologise for my delay in replying, I tried wax and grease remover but had no success the glue remained, so I was at the shops when I spotted a little bottle of sticker remover so I thought I,d give it a try I applied it with a cotton bud lightly touching the surface then left it for about an hour then I repeated the process again I did this for about 2 or 3 days and the glue lifted saving my project, the paint I applied was in really light layers so saving it was a god send. Thanks for the info and the time you put in for the content you put out again Thank you Trevor..
