Thanks for sharing. I feel you. But we can accept responsibility for our own experiences. Everything starts on th no physical plain, so if we experience bullies we must have been a bully to ourselves for a long time, no? Correct me I I'm wrong

average number Ive seen is 25-30; Often initial lists count one subself as two. When early-childhood trauma is specially severe, the degree of dissociation (inner-family disharmony) seems greater - a loose correlation.

Identify (list) your busy subselves and focus on (1) bringing them each into the present (2013); (2) learning to trust your true Self and other Manager subseloves; and then teach all subselves how to do win-win problem-solving: sfhelp.org/cx/skills/ps.htm. You're not "a mess," you have very active subselves who dont yet trust your wise reident true Self to lead them.

This is all so validating to me!!! I've always been taught and made to feel we're just not supposed to have sub selves. Why is this fact so hidden?? Others here saying this too. Why not talk about it in life?? 🤔🤔🤔🐱

  • @gercacn

Hi Laurette - it probably means tjhat different subselves have taken over the true Self, and are each speaking their (confloicting) truths. The Self isn't free to mediate and speak the person's REAL truth.

Thank you for the wisdom you share in your videos. You clearly understand the chaos going on in our minds. Just please get to the point faster in your videos, when I watched many of them at once, most of each video was introduction and saying the same things b4 u get to the practical point. In my chaotic mind that was alittle annoying! But thank u :))

What do you think about Eckhart Tolle's approach, if you have heard of him. His approach is 'to be present' and observe the mind chatter. You call them subselves; he calls them egos. His approach is not an easy one; one's attention must always be in the present moment. I am still trying his approach, but it's not easy. What do you think?

These videos are very good, I was the victim in childhood of first abuse by parents and then extreame bullying in high school, I live with intense anxiety, depression. I also have virtual constant flashbacks about things that happened in my past, particularly high school bullying. What should I do? should I see a behavioral therapist? I would appreciate any advice.

Back in 2003 before I ever knew about this, I had a conversation with myself and realized there were at least 7 and I identifies characteristics of each of them and I thought I was multiple personality i didn't want to tell my doctors for obvious reasons. I set aside these notes I am so excited to hear this so I can really work on this process.

Is the ultimate goal to keep all the parts, with the true self being mostly in control or to integrate all the parts into your true self?

  • @gercacn

Have all the subselves trust and tollow the true Self and other manager subselves. Each subself brings a valuable talent or ytrait to the host person, so you don'ty want to integrate them...

Then make a two teams consisting of all your subselves- the negative team and the positive team .
Write on a piece of paper what the negative team of selves talk about you. Then let the positive team of selves refute them one by one, sympathetically , with logic.
This simple method of writing down has given me clarity and has helped me a great deal.
On a different note, psychologist Albert Ellis have noted that irrational thoughts are the causes of our mental discomfort, agitation and even sorrow. He has listed 12 such irrational thoughts( which you can find online ) which you can study. Written in very simple manner , the list is a fantastic sieve which can point to the negative ways we think. It will help you greatly in refuting the 'Negative team' of the selves.

can i see "subselves" as "egos"?
also, is this concept unique to you, or are "subselves" a common term in (western) therapy / coaching? i am asking because i am learning who my "pure" self really is, and can be present in my soul-body, and i don't want to falsely create negative "subselves" that perhaps don't even exist (by accident). thanks! : )

    • @gercacn
      @gercacn  10 лет назад +1

Call them whatever you wish. This is an ancient world-wide concept which I and hundreds of therapists believe in, starting with Freud. Clinical writers have no common language for "personality subselves" - there are at least 19 other descriptive words (e..g. "little minds / "sub states" / sub-personalities" / "parts" / archetypes / etc - See the books by John Rowan.

It's a interesting concept but I don't have any voices in my mind. If I am not actively thinking something like "where is my damn phone" my mind is completely silent. I can ask in my internal voice whatever I want but I'm never going to get any form of reply.

Some people feel a common subself can be called the "Dream Maker," who shapes our unconscious dream content. If so, it's possible to "meet" this subself and learn from it via inner dialoging. See sfhelp.org/gwc/dialof.htm.

I honestly feel 10 times more schizophrenic and confused when I try to talk to them, because I'm not sure which one is really "me", or my "higher self", I suppose. So instead it's like I'm making arguments on one side, then switching to another side and making arguments for them too, etc etc. It's actually quite horrifying and I feel pretty much screwed most of the time. Like I'll never be able to form relationships with other people because I'm too broken up inside.

On a lighter note , it is like counting sheep in our imagination to induce sleep. You count on and on and after counting 10,332 of them you see plethora of them coming , of all shapes and sizes, and you are the one solely responsible for counting them.
