I feel like every single one of Jaclyn’s videos say the exact same thing with the same attitude. Judgement for how she “use to” act. I drastic plan for how she’s going to move forward. (Filled with plans for dieting and working out just to look “tone”) With a plan to have a cheat day.
This feels like it’s been months and months of the same exact video with different words.
I truly hope she finds something that works for her bc this seems like it is exhausting for her mentally AND physically

I hate the idea of cheat days. If you want the brownie, eat the brownie. Accommodate it within a diet rich in fats, protein and veggies. Depriving yourself for 6 days so you can be a glutton on day 7 was so frustrating and I would overeat junk so much that I would undo any health gains. I would throw my glucose out of wildly out of whack one day per week. I then couldn’t sleep yet felt lethargic.

I don’t know why people demonize snacking! I remember my mother used to comment on my snacking habits when I was going through puberty and it made me feel so ashamed. I was having snacks because I was so hungry from growing so much.
Now, as a woman in my mid-20s, I can’t function without having some sort of breakfast, a moderate lunch, a snack after work/school, and a late-ish dinner. I genuinely feel so bad (cranky and sometimes shaky) if I don’t have a snack around 4 or 5 pm. I feel sad for people who don’t allow themselves food when their body is hungry 😢 all things in moderation, but I’m big on intuitive eating

    • @mialovesyousm

my mom always commented on my snacking too even if I just ate an apple. She said Im ruining my insulin levels by it because it makes my sugar spike. That made me eat in secret which led to me gaining wait. I never understood how parents could comment stuff like that on young kids.

The problem with set point theory is that nobody knows what to do when your set point recalibrates to a new higher setting. For example, I was 145 -148 until I went off my PCOS medication for nearly a year. I went back on it after reaching 158-160, but two years later it refuses to go back to my old range. I lose weight but the slightest thing (eating a restaurant meal or taking antibiotics) causes me to shoot back up.
Jaclyn used to have a set point of 130-140 and hers changed due to a combination of divorce trauma, alcohol, and stress eating. Like me, her set point appears to have moved up.

Natural Set Point Weight was so helpful for me. I lost a ton of weight after finally getting on some very necessary medication for some endocrine disorders. And now for about 3-4 months I have been exactly the same weight (within like a 2-3 pound range) while eating a diet that feels good and moving my body a reasonable amount! I almost wish she wouldn't document it so much because she is (like all of us trying to better ourselves) contradictory in approach and is opening herself up to comments that might trigger and impede her progress. That's just how it is when figuring out what works. She doesn't have to eat clean and all that. She doesn't have to prove that to the world. The fear of carbs is hard to avoid if you’re tuned into diet culture. I did a shred and realized that not only was I not eating enough food but my body also likes having healthy carbs. She is so immersed in diet culture that she doesn't understand how triggering she actually is. It makes me feel sorry she has to live in her own head because if those are the thoughts that she verbally expresses for her channel, I can't imagine what is happening in there the rest of the time. Do you have a video on lowering your cholesterol and losing weight at the same time? Some “experts” suggest cutting out all or almost all healthy oils, plus eating very little meat. I understand that processed foods are bad but I don’t think eating just a plant based diet would be enjoyable.

I had success by upping veggies, eating the healthy fats (olive oil and avocados). I focused my protein on fish, chicken, red meat once per week, lower fat yogurt or cottage cheese and only one serving of full fat cheese per day. I do eat an egg for breakfast every day. This worked for me but everyone is different.

From what I heard or seen is just having way too much sugar and not moving about enough, but that's if you're not having a genetic reason for it. So lessen the simple carbs and go for more complex cars. Not to say that you could never have them, but maybe switch your bread to more solid or a different bread or eat less bread? That's just an example. Doesn't mean to stop eating bread altogether just lessen it and then check yourself after a month or 2 and see if it works and if it's helpful. More than anything make sure your stress levels are low you're sleeping well and not to do anything too drastic all-in-one go

Sometimes we have to have discipline. There is nothing wrong with that. We are now living in a society that is overindulging and everything, which is why Americans are so obese. I've lost over 150 lb 20 years ago and kept it off. It's possible but I wouldn't have been able to do that unless I modified what I ate and set some rules for myself

yes food nowadays is so calorie dense yet our lifestyles are sedentary. So some level of restriction is necessary. I can easily eat over 3k of calories just from junk food! It is important to label food as good or bad imo. Doesnt mean you cant have bad food, just less of it.

Honestly, I think she knows people will watch her videos when she talks about her weight, wanting to loose it and discussing what she’s eating. I wonder if she even realises how much she contradicts herself even within the same video. It’s just talking for the sake of talking. And it’s just words and she had no idea what she’s saying.

    Hi Abbey,
I wanted to thank you for the consistently helpful videos you continue to make. I used to watch your content when I was unhealthily numbers focused and counting every. single. calorie. It got so bad that I ended up losing muscle because I was so determined to keep a particular number on the scale, and since I lift weights, that was a problem! I always thought your advice sounded counterintuitive--adding IN food instead of restricting? However, I'm really excited to report that I haven't counted calories at all this entire year, and I even buy cereal and pop tarts sometimes! Your HCC ideas for trigger foods has been incredibly helpful--more than you know. Anyway, I realized today that I'm actually eating intuitively and am super happy with my progress and my body, and that is in huge part thanks to your content. I don't know if you'll see this, but I wanted to tell you thank you. ❤ one last thing: would love to see your suggestions for a HCC involving homemade cookies! I am pretty much incapable of avoiding warm chocolate chip cookies and I need a way to bake and enjoy them without eating half a batch in one sitting. 😂

I have some friends who have really tried and it seems like nothing works, yet their life does seem to have unresolved emotional issues and chronic stress. I’ve wondered if an underlying factor could be their emotional well-being and environmental aspects that in a way prevents their body from functioning well.

Looking back my sleep schedule was so haphazard based on exam schedules and being away from my loved ones was so hard. When I moved back into town and was back with my family, I lost most of that weight even though my eating habits remained the same. Im in grad school now and I learned to manage the stress. My weight has not budged after going down.

I've struggled with disordered eating for SO LONG. It was a binge/restrict Rollercoaster for literally my entire life. Recently I've gotten sick to the point where eating isn't fun because I just get sick after and something about that made my brain click that food isn't an enemy, it's a friend and it's just trying to help. I've been my same post pregnancy weight for almost 3 years until this, and only once I stopped banning myself from certain food groups or times during the day I could/couldn't eat did I drop any weight. I'm still sick, I'm still struggling, but my brain is finally making friends with my body and I think I'm finally okay with the body I'm in, even if it doesn't look exactly how I wish it would!
So it turns out, the diets really are the problem!

I wish I could shake some women and yell "whatever you are doing to change your body needs to be something you can do almost daily for the rest of you life to maintain it, otherwise you are LITERALLY just destroying both your metabolism (its harder and harder to loose weight that youve lost and then gained back) and your nervous system (restricting and binging is horrible our nervous system)" it doesn't have to be this painful. Throw out the scale and pull out the measuring tape. Visceral fat loss is a much better indicator of how well your lifestyle is working for you and a better indicator of future health outcomes than numbers on a scale. I no longer weigh myself. I pay attention to how I feel, what my labs say (I'm diabetic) and what size pants I've got on.

I feel like these concepts are easier when you’ve already successfully been utilizing them. I’m here to say that I agree with you. Since I’ve stopped dieting and started eating intuitively not because it’s time or because I feel like it. Also, cutting down my portions and telling myself I’m allowed to eat as much as I want but let’s just eat the small amount and wait 30 minutes. I realize that I now I’m satisfied with a lot less food and I feel better because now I’m not having upset stomach or over eating, I think what brings this all home for me is I’m actively seeing the scale go down consistently while feeling good and eating what I want.
