Imagine oppenheimer reading the news and finding out that his bomb created a literal monster that could put and end to the world as we know it, the guilt would be heavier.
It would be unbearable
At that point he's convinced that he himself is the monster, and that the monster itself is just his offspring, an unwanted offspring.
The guilt would be heavier and denser than anything else to the point it made it's own orbit and gravity.

If you think about it, Oppenheimer is technically cannon. Godzilla was mutated by nuclear fallout, and that wouldn't have happened if the bomb was never made.
Had that bomb not dropped on Hiroshima Godzilla would have never been created.

@@scarameow069 so the story goes that Godzilla was a dinosaur that lived among other Godzilla’s but Japan, during the time launched nuclear weapons into the ocean to test them, which killed off his family but Godzilla was the only survivor the bomb also permanently scarred his skin, making him look like the way he does in the 1954 movie and so feeling nothing but rage towards mankind he sets out on a path to cause death and destruction to those who took everything from him.

I sit in my office a broken mess, my eyes blood shot from crying, my head spinning. I learned of something horrifying that is currently going on in japan.
A monster, a giant reptile like creature, no a dinosaur mangled and mutated. It has spines like a stegosaurus but walks like a tyrannosaurus. I saw little footage in the theater as it shot a beam that exploded into a mushroom cloud. The same cloud as that accursed bomb.
This is my doing, I cannot think of anything else to be the cause. I spent countless hours crying, angry at myself for what is transpiring in Japan. Lord forgive me, forgive me for making this damned beast. I don't know if I'll be able to sleep, how can i knowing that thing is out there.
They call it Gojira, a portmanteau of the japanese words for gorilla and whale. But the government here has given it another name... Godzilla.
I pray this thing is stopped, if not then my worst fear will come to fruition...total world destruction.

As a film fan and someone who loves history, it’s pretty phenomenal that two of the biggest and most well received films of the year 2023 were period pieces about the creation of and the consequences of the atomic bomb. It gives me hope, honestly, like this is the kind of thing that I love movies for, as silly as it kind of is.

Okay, so I have some great news…-1.0 in now out on streaming. The bad news is that it’s on Prime Video in Japan only. But in even greater news: some nameless heroes have successfully transferred the movie into some files! The even bad news: nobody has been able to give it subtitles and for the cherry on top, Toho has been issuing DMCA claims for anyone that uploads any clips or the movie entirely
Imagine if they played this instead of the actual ending when they re-released it.
The crowd would have gone insane.

If they make a sequel to Godzilla Minus One, they should pay Cillian Murphy to do a cameo as a fictional version of Oppenheimer who reacts to Godzilla and perhaps even gets involved with trying to find a solution. It would be the most WILD thing ever.

In my opinion, Toho should film "Honda" as a spiritual sequel to Oppenheimer, talking about Ishiro's life and how he witnessed firsthand the consequences of the SWW and the nuclear tests whose trauma would lead him to create and direct Gojira.

I've seen quite a few Godzilla Minus One + Oppenheimer edits, and this is my favourite.
It's all the more hardhitting for its simplicity.
There's one that uses the original Godzilla as it's source for the Godzilla portion of the edit and its just as good as this one
This honestly would've been a good way for TOHO to tease Godzilla Minus One. As perfect as the OG Oppenheimer ending was, this would've been perfection to witness in the cinema.

Oppenheimer is the Dr Frankenstein to Godzilla's monster.
This would be one of the most out of pocket, yet incredibly hype and odly fitting endings to ever be made for a movie. Imagine if this edit was put in certain versions of the film just to make people be confused about why some people said Oppenheimer ended with Godzilla. 10/10 would be one of the best things Hollywood could do.
