Hair bands in the 80s were incredible. Lucky to have grown up then.
me too paul this song was amazing and so many others im so glad im an 80s lady
I feel the same...The 80's had some of the best music in my opinion
This song was written about Mark Slaughters late girlfriend. He was on tour and came home to find that her funeral was the next day. The song is about letting go. My son passed in 2014 and we both learned this song on guitar before he passed but I can not think of this song in the way as of a healing process. Only a great time teaching him to play it because it was of my era. Same with Tears In Heaven. This song stayed on the charts for a long time and made MTV’s number 1 for about 4 weeks. A wonderful song and a gem to those of us who actually was able to see the band live and play this song. I have seen 2 versions of this song on stage played, one with the original guitarist Tim Kelly who passed away tragically and a new guitarist who I didn’t care for because the luster of the original band just was not there.
@Ryan Belden I never really tried to learn his style of playing. He blended a lot of different guitarists together which made him HIM. I have a guitar signed by him and Mark. It’s a B. C. Rich. A lot of the good ones die young.
@Ryan Belden Criss Olivia was a GREAT guitarist as much as his brother Jon is a GREAT vocalist
Savatage is a VERY underrated band.
Dead Winter Dead, Hall of the Mountain King
Even Edge of Thorns
Don't be shamed, girl, we ALL cried when we first heard this song. I dedicated this to my mother, just months before she died.😭
I cry every single time. And I’ve probably listened to it over a few hundred times. 😢
Graduated in 87 and played drums all my life.(Locally known) Your emotions are a testament to the POWER of music! I moved 2yrs ago from Indiana to Oregon. Went from 1,000 friends to just me, my Wife(High School sweetheart) and my 2 labs. Drums suck playing alone. I can sing and knew some chords on the guitar, so i bought an acoustic guitar and killed time learning my favorite songs and singing em. Thought at a campfire, i would be a hit! ha I can hit these notes.....Sang in a Motley Crue tribute band. i was learnin g this song and i always get on and see how people play it then i take it all in and do it. I actually made MYSELF cry a FEW times singing and playing guitar in my living room!! The power of this song is truly amazing. You need not be sad young lady. Remembering someone is a GOOD thing!! People die twice......once when they physically die, and then when people FORGET about them! Never forget. My Father is on my fridge and i actually say, "Morning Pop" when i make my morning coffee. I never cry anymore and i used to always cry. Now i talk like he's right there and always happy thoughts. You are awesome showing your vulnerability! I joined your channel just now for that very reason. Stay strong JAYY! Crying is a good thing......means you really do LOVE and CARE if you didnt love... you wouldnt miss someone anyway! sorry so long.... I never comment. I am gonna hit send, pick up my acoustic and sing this song for you right MEOW. Peace girl
This song can be very healing. When I lost my wife in September 2015, I listened to this song a lot and it helped me.
Mark Slaughter has one of the best voices of the last 80s
He had THE best voice out of the entire glam/hair metal era.
A bit similar to the Cinderella guy.
@@christianwallin4993 sebastian bach
@@darrenbishop1614 I disagree. Listen to "That Time Of Year" by Vinnie Vincent Invasion and "Fly To The Angels" by Slaughter and you'll see what I mean. That voice had no boundaries back in the day.
The title track from the album The Wild Life is another good one.
@@christianwallin4993 so i did go back and listen to Vinnie Vincent Invasion, i did not know about them and im impressed. So ive started listening to them now i really like "Love Kills" , so thank you for turning me onto to them. That being said though vocally he is amazing can he can hit the same notes as Sebastian, im sure he could. he has a great high range and awesome tone but sebastian not only has really high notes he has sooo much girth and power and the stamina to hold really high notes for 11 seconds or more with rasp. watch this video though i wish in the video he showed the whole clips to show you how long sebastian held these notes ruclips.net/video/QchqljwZ_F4/видео.html
The video is 8 CRAZIEST Sebastian Bach vocal lines - Skid Row then listen to Qucksand Jesus, the whole song he sings amazing but 4 min in he hits a pretty high note ,not his highest but its still pretty damn high but he holds that note 19 seconds i truly think hes one of the greatest singers out of that era and top 100 all time, he also got to sing on broadway. there are two other singers that i think make a great argument is Axl Rose love him or hate him the dude has a nearly 6 octave vocal range. and Miljenko Matijevic, from Steelheart. that guy can hit some really high notes but yea go watch that and tell me what you think, thanks again
I still cry when I hear this song. My first born child died in 1980, due to organ failure because he was born prematurely. This song has always made me think of him and I cry. I now have 6 children in heaven and 2 on earth. Most of my losses were from miscarriage.
I’m so saddened to hear of your loss Jayy and I understand your reaction to your loss and what this song brings up in you.
God bless you and yours. I too have outlived my children with none left.
@@goatbut29 I am saddened to hear of your loss and pray that you are healing as best as you can.
You are a special lady....A RUclips treasure. Never change.
Exactly
It was an Honor to see her react to this song. What a heart she has. Very few like her today. God Bless her.
Mark Slaughter was so underrated. Great first album!!
Have to 2nd this....
Great second and third album as well👀
I think he was rated correctly
100%agree
I came from a country far far away from the States and this song ( n Slaughter as a band) was very popular in my country. So, I don't think they are underated..
RIP Tim Kelly, the lead guitarist, taken much to early.
R.I.P. Tim Kelly ... gone way too soon. Slaughter may have never cracked the top 5 on the charts in that time but rest assured, it's channels like this who will forever keep your legacy alive. Thank you for reacting and thank you Tim for the amazing music. Us metal heads will never forget you.
Watching this video now reminds me Tim Kelly tragic passing
Tough song, Jayy. I’m so sorry for your loss. I really appreciate your spirit and intent and the humanity you bring to so many of your reaction videos. Take care.
Time heals.
God bless you!
Agreed
It breaks my heart to see you like this Jayy, but he's looking down and is smiling at you right now and proud of the woman you've become.
I lost my 11yr old daughter 12 years ago and this song reminds me of her. I always crank this up on her birthday along with Cemetery Gates and E Tout Lemonde
Sorry for your horrible loss. So much sadness & pain. One day at a time.🥲💔🙏
My fiancee committed suicide. It devastated me and both of our children. I feel your pain and wish you peace and joy. You're a sweetheart. Thanks for the awesome videos.
Love 💘
So sorry for your loss 💔Hugs and love to you 💝
Sigh... when you're a 16,17,18 years old,and listening to this, you just crank it up and sing along, but time and loss teaches you different, the real emotion and message hits home it's hard to feel so carefree. I hate that you know this pain at such a young age,Jayy.
@@stevepence229 hey, thanks,Steve!!! I gotta tell you, though, I makes me sad because there are certain songs and movies I shy away from that I used to love because it puts me in a bad place emotionally.
@@stevepence229 yeah... I have my list that, regrettably I can no longer enjoy.
@Ryan Belden I'm genuinely sorry. The feeling of loss is one that I wouldn't wish on anyone.
@@geminiacleo7ewe me too 🥺
I think Tim Kelly on guitar making what sounds like birds chirping/calling/cooing what ever you call it really set's the mood and power of the song
My sister took her life, we were the 2 middle children of 4 kids, she was my best friend and watching you open up about your loss just broke me down. We always lose those we love too soon, there’s never a good time. We just have to keep them alive in our hearts.
My condolences
Both of my parents are gone and I still get random thoughts of, oh I need to call my mom or dad and then I remember that I can’t. It’s like losing them all over again. Much love jayy
Same here. Pain never goes away
absolutely ...on a daily basis
@Ryan Belden I think that's the hardest part of losing my dad a few years back. For awhile there, my last memories of him were still there and it didn't feel like he was gone. After awhile though, I started forgetting he was gone. Then something would happen and I would want to call him about it and have to relive the moment finding out he was gone all over again. That's the hardest part about losing someone after some time has passed.
Lost my Mom recently, very hard this brought it all back.
I lost my parents within a year of each other. It's hard. Best wishes to all of you, who have lost loved ones ❤
An Army brother of mine passed a few weeks ago. This was his favorite song. I break now every time I hear it. I cried with you Jayy. This song digs deep. RIP Matt.
That's the best rock ballad ever written right there.
This is what music is really about. Rawness, emotion, passion.
I played this at my daughter’s funeral, so you know it makes me cry!
I lost my daughter in 2000 and listen to this song over and over for over a week 22 years later I still cry.. I am sorry for your lost
You my dear have a heart of gold. Bless you and thank you for being the kind hearted person you are. The world needs many more of you in it!!!
My first live concert was Winger, Slaughter and KISS. 1990, Tacoma Dome.
Saw that tour but w faster pussycat and winger.
@@raulozuna3545 yes I was there as well 🤔
lol ..it was my first concert as well ..except for they were at the Erie Convention Center in Erie, PA. freaking awesome concert
@Frank Rizzo did they call you Rubba-neck?
@@Van1973Auken that's right tough guy 😁
My momma was a very kind woman. Those kind of people suffer the worst here on earth. My father beat her un mercifully for years. I wasn't the best kid either. Despite that she always loved and helped me thru my hard times never even thinking of herself. She developed cancer a couple of years back. Her body had all it could stand but she wouldn't pass on. Hospice worker said she sees that with mothers holding on because they feel like their work isn't done with their children. I held my mommas hand and said I'm OK momma...you can go now. She passed the next day. I think she had an angel waiting on her and she has all the joy she deserved here on earth now. She flew to the angels.
This song was the first favorite song I remember having. I was 10 years old. Still love it over 30 years later.
Jayy my wife of 32 years passed away suddenly 2 months ago, we played this song as her family launched her ashes in a rocket over the lake she loved to celebrate her life. I miss her very much. Very sorry for your loss. Trying to move on is easier said than done. Time is slow healer. May God be with you.
Awww, sweetie!!! That affected you deeply!!! Such a response for this lovely song. 🤗💗 It reminds me of a young gal we lost to suicide a few years back. Tears me up sometimes too. 👍👍👍
This song reminds me of my older sister who passed when she was 18. She passed only a few years after this came out and Slaughter was one of her favorite.
I just lost my dad 2 weeks ago. This song was never sad to me decades ago but this time it got me.
July 3, 2012. My wife of 11 years passed away (i was 33) this was one of the songs played at her funeral. Still brings tears to my eyes when I hear it
I love you. For many reasons, but seeing this one pop up today made me really happy. I love that you let yourself feel the music and lyrics. I’ve listened to this song so many times I’ve lost count (still love this band and was obsessed with them when they were big) but today, listening to it with you and knowing what you’ve been through, it made me cry. Thank you for giving us honest reactions. The singer Mark wrote this song either about an old friend from high school, or a girl he used to date in high school. I can’t remember which. But she died in a car accident, I think. And the guitarist you see in the video, Tim, he also later died in a car crash so this song grew to be dedicated to him a lot, too. It’s definitely Slaughter’s biggest hit, but if you ever want to check out their usual sound (not a ballad), maybe go with “Up All Night” or “Mad About You.” “Spend My Life” is another good one.
Have a wonderful day, and thanks for making mine better by bringing Slaughter into it!
I believe this was about his girlfriend that passed while he was away on tour.....
You have a beautiful soul ❤
It was actually about Amelia Earhart that's why the plane in the plane hangar the song was about her
I actually stand corrected. Jeannie is correct and Noel you are incorrect. I therefore retract my comment and agree with Jeannie.
@@therealmillerman I wasn't sure. I had heard that when the song first came out. We all know how the rumor mill works!! Lol Thanks for clarification!!
Mark Slaughters voice is so high, the band is one the only rock bands that tune UP, and not down.
What's crazy is months after my pops passed I still called his phone to hear his voice mail greeting. It never gets easy. 3 yr span I lost both my parents. This song always hits deep. Well done girl
RIP Tim Kelley. Streets of Broken Dreams
I also feel this song expresses perfectly how it feels when any of us loses someone we love. The pain never leaves us, but we continue on being the best people we can in their memory.
This song always got me but it really gets me in tears now!! I have had so many loses in my life in the last 15 yrs:
My brother
My best friend of 31 yrs
My dad
My 9 yr old son
My sister...
And also many friends & family..
😢
My beautiful daughter 💔..not hearing her voice..or her laughter..her smile..her hugs..always wanting to wake up and its all a bad dream..yes this is a beautiful song..and it s hard to listen to..but so beautiful..thank you Sunshine..The love of your life...lives in your heart..and all the beautiful memories remain...
I don't think I have ever cried to this song for over 20 years. You made me cry as well. Very powerful song. Love and God bless you
Holy shit. You’re going into some serious tear jerker territory.
You’ve GOT TO HEAR one of the most under appreciated songs of the era
Faster Pussycats House of Pain.
You’ll be crying probably before they hit the chorus.
That is a TOUGH song. Tears for sure.
I had the pleasure to know lead singer Mark Slaughter prior to the group, we sang in high school choir together in Las Vegas. He is an amazing person and WOW !!! what a voice, to sit next to him and hear him twice a day in class, he was our only natural tenor, something some fans don't know is he sang in a barbershop quartet with myself and 2 other members of the schools men's choir and competed in All State Choir in 1981, I always loved his ballads.
So much great heartfelt music from 80s rock bands.
It's a very deep and for real song if you know what it's about peace be with you 🙏.
And so sorry what you have gone through. Bless you young lady!!!
I was a teenager with many broken hearts in the 80s with songs like this, made them all the harder! LOL
This is why so many songs in the 80s were called 'Rock Ballads.'
Powerful song, right? Kinda hits ya right in the "feels."
Such a moving song,Jayyy, thank you for sharing your heart with us,God uses specific venues to bring those together that support each other and allow us to heal and grow together . No matter where we are from music brings us together as one . Good vibes and much thanks for a,lowing us to share the blessings.
I cried with you J. This song always reminds me of my 21 yr old niece who passed away. Very emotional. Good song choice!
Thank you so much for this reaction! After my wife of 43 yrs. passed on, I would play this song. She loved it.
Im sorry for your loss too!!! The hardest and scariest thing is learning to live with that person not being and learning to live without that persons guidance, and unfortunately we have a lifetime of saying hello and goodbye to people until we ourselves have to say goodbye. Im 51 and over those 51 years have lost 25 family members. Starting with my little brother when i was 5 and the most recent death of my mother in law 2 weeks ago I think i have seen enough death but that isnt up to me. Beautiful song one of the last great ballads from the early 90s!!!
One that gets me in the feels.
Another, Hard to Find the Words, by Cinderella. Played it at my mothers funeral.
It just KILLS me...
Good job girlfriend
I saw Slaughter live supporting Cinderella.
Best reaction video ever, this song is special to me for the loss of a woman I loved, I cried with you! Because I understand and I'm sorry for your loss..
Mark's voice is Incredible! Slaughter was a great band! So much sadness! I, cry every time, I listen to this song!
My high-school sweetheart, wife and mother of my 2 beautiful children. Passed away in 2008 after 18 years together. This song brought tears to my many many times. Great song ! Fly Angel, Fly
Hugs and love to you sweet Jayy. May you find comfort & peace in your memories & hold them close to your heart 💓
I felt that reaction.
This song was around when my daddy died in my arms. This one and silent lucidity.
Love your reaction
It’s so great seeing younger generations enjoy the music I grew up on!!!
I'm so moved that the song moved you so much!
On a foolish note, I clearly remember being in high school w my bf and trying to come up with ways we could meet the band...even though we lived on the east coast and the band was on the west coast. All due to this song..we were smitten.
Poor darling. I know that feeling. If I knew you personally, I'd give you a big ole hug. I love your channel.
i lost my boyfriend around the time this song came out and i sang it and sang it over and over. i had to stop listening to this song because it would make me cry and think life will never be good again. i listen to it often now to remind me of another life i lived years ago, still makes me sad. i'll always miss & cherrish my Gilberts memory.
God..you're killing me. I hope you feel all the love you send out coming back round to you Jay..
You always wear ur heart on ur sleeve which is awsome. Always stay that way and b the honest person u r.
I can relate, girl. My wife contracted the COVID-19 last March and passed away. My heart is still broken, and I wonder sometimes how I can even go on.
So sorry to hear Ron. May God wrap his arms around you.❤
It was 1990...I was a senior in high school...I had just purchased my 1984 Z-28 Camaro with my own hard earned money...my hair was long....we were called "Hessians"....life was pretty cool back then!
The singer, Mark and drummer, Blas Elias... 2 of the nicest guys I have ever met. Blas put med school on-a 'break' to drum. Now he plays for Transiberian Orchestra, he did the Blue Man group too. This tour, in 89/90, opening for KISS... good era. Mark is Native American and Blas is Mexican and both proud and so helped show that rock has no color.
I'm so sorry for your loss. You look like such a beautiful and caring soul. You were a blessing in his life and vice versa. When I met my first wife she was pregnant from another man who up and left her. I was going to step in and be a father figure for her. My wife even let me name her. I had a name for a girl in my mind for a long time before. Shelby Cheyenne. She was born and lived a month and three days. She was in bed with us, got up against her mom's back, and smothered. I dedicated this song to her.
“All the stars in the night shine in your name.” There’s so much love in that one sentence.
I’m so very sorry about your loss. I’m so, so sorry.
This is what's missing from modern music. Music that connects to your heart . Gotta love 80s 90s rock n metal bands.
I love how you feel the melody of his voice this is my old friends fav song she past away but she's still in my heart.....I'll never find a friend like her....... I love how you feel the song with tears and emotion ❤️
To see the new age react to the music I grew up on in the 80’s and 90’s, is so completely gratifying. This restores my faith in humanity, and I’m sorry you lost someone. You will persevere thru the storm. You are strong and honest…..that’s all you need. Very…very impressed the young even knows this song or band!! Thank you!
I know how you feel. I cry every time I hear this song. Makes you think of family and friends that have passed. May they all RIP.
I like how you got so into the song that you felt it emotionally. Raw emotions... I like that kind of sincerity..
Girl. I have been a fan of Slaughter since they came out in the 80s and I STILL get emotional when I hear this song every time. It came out about the same time my great aunt passed followed by my grandmother, her sister, and I know they have both been flying with the angels ever since.
My condolences
Girl friend I love when younger generations appreciates good rock.. it is really amazing the 70 and 80s
You have such a beautiful caring heart. I love your reactions.
I've heard this song a couple hundred times & seen Mark live a dozen times. Seeing you cry made me cry. Hugs
Well... As soon as she started crying I started crying. Tears come easy with that song when you've lost someone. So prayers for everyone. Also. Mark Slaughter is just 🙌.
May God bless you and your family you truly are a special person with a beautiful heart. I will be sending prayers your way. 🙏🤗
It's so refreshing and reassuring to see someone so young...understand, and feel what the music I grew up with means to so many. Thank you for this. Subscribed.
Mark’s voice, and the passion in his singing of this song…can sure ping your heart?
Mark Slaughter...What a mega-smash from the late 80s this song was. EVERYBODY loved it!!
song actually came out in 90 but yes was made in 89
This was a song my auntie Vernita and her sisters would jam. When they were together for the weekend having drinks. My aunt ended up passing under unfortunate circumstances. But, this song just brings memories of her to the forefront. She was my mom's youngest sister, but much more motherly to me and my siblings.
at the end he whispers "divine order of his"
one of a kind amazing voice n the band is extremely talented as well.
Oooh Slaughter's got some good ones! Can't wait to see this! This just reminded me of another great band.... "I Remember You" Skid Row Live at Wembley Stadium in London (they were tour with Guns N Roses at the time).... another great performance to check out!
EDIT: I just finished watching this reaction.... Bless your heart! I know that simply knowing you're NOT alone in that kind of pain helps. We feel your pain and thank you for sharing your honest reaction....
when a song hits your soul the real emotions come out - PEACE LOVE n HIPPYNESS!
I love reactions like this when it makes a person fill up with so much emotion that the person must cry
It hurts losing our loved ones, I know. Pain & death have ruled my life since I was a child in the early eighties. Music is the single thing that gets me through life. Without it, I'd have left this plane of existence long ago. Lotsa love being sent to you from EDMONTON, ALBERTA, CANADA.
The loss of that someone or people we hold so special is hard, it will always be, we just learn to deal with it better. God bless..
I’m sure you’ll never, ever see this but I am honestly, sincerely sorry for your loss. God bless you.
Yes you are tearing up. I grew up on this music. I am sorry for your loss. Reach for the stars and let your dreams fly!!!!
You made me cry too because I literally grew up listening to this in the ‘90’s. I was a teenager (yes I’m old) and all those memories stab me like a dagger in the heart. I wish I could go back in time….and rectify the bad stuff.
I'm so sorry for your emotional experience. This song has been a fav of mine since 1990. Mark Slaughter is one of the most influential voices in rock history. I fell in love with him the first time I saw him and heard his voice. It was heartbreaking that the band entered right at the grunge switch in 1990 so they didn't get to go as far as they could have, however Mark Slaughter still tours and continues to break concert arenas!. Fly to the Angel's is now extremely personal for me too, having experienced the loss of very dear friends and family. My prayers to you for continuined strength and peace 🙏❤️
God bless you! Great song and better honest reaction! Slaughter is awesome!
I can't help but cry still. R.I.P. to those we loved who have gone HOME.
I played this song at my little sister’s memorial in 1995. It is, by far, my favorite song from Slaughter. I am still a huge fan. This song helped me a lot dealing with her death
I absolutely love this song. It does make me cry because I think about family and friends that passed away. Some died toooo young like my 17 year old niece. It really hits because you can no longer call them or visit them, ect anymore.
