- If these planks could talk, they'd be telling you to visit New York's 1,000 Islands! In this Gilded Age playground of the rich and famous we tour the majestic Yacht House of Boldt Castle, ride in 100 year-old runabout fit for a king, pick up some boat buying tips from Antique Boat America, get our hands dirty in the boatwright's shop at Antique Boat Museum, "go skiffin'," drop in our friends at ACBS, marvel at the craftsmanship of a master model maker, fire up a bone-shaking 1951 Scripps V-12 marine engine, sample the wares at Wood Boat Brewery, and take a ride in the world famous John Hacker-designed runabout - "Pardon Me." Check out the links below, and thanks for watching!

Thank you very much! Looking forward to the Workshop!
Alexandria Bay is where I was first introduced to the wonderful world of wooden boats !!! … close by , at the headwaters of Black Lake is where I experienced the heady feeling of opening one up with just a 40 hp outboard !!! … part of the Thousand Islands DNA !!!
How about an article on Clearlake California, specifically upper lake. Thats where the racing was in Nor Cal. Actually guys came up from LA to race there. We used to stay in Soda Bay, but since the racing was either in Nice or Lakeport we eventually moved to Lakeport with the boats. When I was a kid we had exclusive use of Pigs beach. It was a great place to teach waterskiing. Sandy bottom shallow enough tha you would beach your boat 20 ft from shore and wade to the beach with your blankets and coolers. Being that the ski club was involved in racing it was important to have a good place to teach. Chuck Sterns learned to ski the same day thst I did. I was a late bloomer. Most kids in the club could ski by the time they started grammar school, 6 to 8 yrs old. I didn't learn until I was 12. I should say that I already knew how, just hadn't done it yet. At this point its been years and I am getting nostalgic.
This is great information from a viewer. Our audience members know facts and details we might never find on our own. We'll add Clearlake to the list. We may have to reach out to you for tips and contacts. Thanks very much.
Seen you guys at Howard's classics boats at the show I'm his apprentice thanks for sharing.
Thanks for commenting! We hope to get back down there and film some more!
Wish I could have been there...
It was a pleasure talking with you on the phone.
Look into George Crouch and do an episode of his designs, potentially.
Thanks very much for the suggestion. We will look into it!
I see a Philbrick boat in the pictures. We had one, I was glad when we got rid of it. Our Glidercraft V-drive was a much better boat. My dad sold it when I went to Vietnam. I wish he had kept it.
I trust your ramblings take you to Algonac Michigan. Love to see these old boats, I remember them from my growing up in the Great Lakes.
Yes - we certainly hope to make to Algonac in the near future. Thanks for commenting!
Well done! A great vacation destination for sure!
Tom - thanks so much for watching. We can't wait to get back to the Thousand Islands. Filming is definitely work for us, and we are fortunate to visit amazing places - but without our families. We're hopeful we can take them there, and really to all the waterfront destinations we go, so they can enjoy them as well. Hope to see you out there!
Been there many times. It is Americana at its best.
AWESOME VIDEO! That's my kids and I at 30:45. It was our first time visiting 1000 Islands from Ohio
We loved everything about the area. Great video. I cannot wait to share with my children!
That's very cool! It was our first time in the 1,000 Islands, too - for most of our crew. It is a fantastic place to visit - so much to see and do. Thanks very much for taking the time to watch the show and comment!
Just curious - how did you find our show?
@@mahoganyandchromeshow you mentioned the channel's name when you were filming. I subbed in August. Then as Tom Petty said, "The waiting is the hardest part." 😆
@@sockeatinggolden8316Ah - sorry about that. It took much longer than we hoped to edit. We have other full-time work which we have to prioritize. Thanks for your patience, and for subscribing!
@@mahoganyandchromeshow No worries. It was worth the wait!
