My first power boat was a glasstron. Had a 1958 Evinrude on it when i got it. Used it for years. Repowered it with a 1968 Merc 1000. It would scare the crap out of you... it tried to fly like a modern bass boat... which it was never designed to do. Still loved that boat.

Love the Glastrons and Glastron Carlsons. I have four CVX20's. They are the best boat ever made IMO.

Just came across this today. Was very proud to see my 58 Seaflight featured toward the beginning. I have 40 vintage boats of various brands in my collection and this 58 Glastron has always been my flagship.

Always liked glasstron boats, I’ve had a couple in my life time. I’ve always said they were the official boat of 007. Thanks for sharing your video. 👍

I had a 1977 CVX 16. 115 power trim Mercury outboard but with silver metal flake. 50 mph boat. Lots of fun with that boat. Had it for 15 years and then sold it for a third of what I paid for it. Think I paid around $6,500 for it in 1977. The only weak point in the boat was darn buttons they were supposed to hold the upholstery cushions in. Bought those from the dealer by the dozens

I wish they would bring back some of the Art Carlson old jet drive boats like car manufacturers did with cars like the mustang and dodge did with the Chargers and challengers

I was born in San Antonio, but raised in Austin. I'm 41 and just found out that these were made in Austin. I used to see a ton of these boats growing up. I wish I could have enjoyed Town Lake in its heyday.

@@richhoops2413 That would have been great. I grew up in Beeville. Something you should check out if you haven't seen them, Glastron made some boats back in the 60's or 70's that looked like cool cars from the 50's. You'll really like them.

@Russ Nurse2B Crazy! No joke. My parents owned a motel in Beeville called the Bali Hai. It had a bar called the Tiki Lounge. I actually went to Trinity for a couple of semesters. I'll never forget, my father rented a building that was an old broom factory to store the furniture. I enjoyed Beeville. The military base was there then. What a small world

@@richhoops2413 Awesome! It is a small world. I remember all those well. One of my good friends, his gf worked at the Bali Hai. I went Our Lady of Victory for 5th grade across the street from the broom factory. What memories. I had a few friends that went to Trinity too.

@@russnurse2b807 Wow. Too cool man! I love to hear this. I used to go across the street and play "1942" at DQ, Haha. We also had two massive sand piles behind the motel that a bunch of kids and I would play on, with my younger brother. Yeah. I had some great memories there too. Man it does get hot there, Don't get me wrong, it gets hot here in Austin. But, man Beeville. The broom factory was a trip. It had a crazy old elevator in it. I believe that building burned down. I could absolutely be wrong there. I'm happy you had some great memories there as well.

Glastron was the victim of James Bond Fever. They got too popular and busy and their quality went down the crapper. You couldn't GIVE me one of their boats. Pretty bad when you're outclassed by Bayliner.

We lived on a lake in Va back in the early 70's and my dad had a 19' walk thru windshield Glastron with a 351 Cleveland and Berkley jet drive. I remember the chrome valve covers had something like 351 powered by Glastron or modified by Glastron with a big Holley double pumper and lumpy cam. I swear you could nail it and it was almost silent for a second then sucked the fiberglass engine cover down and took off like a raped ape. Growing up with that boat in my teens got me hooked on boats forever!

See, it’s my opinion that when glasstron was bought their product got cheap. when I was a kid glasstron was viewed as a POS. Their older boats are amazing though.

The VEC Boats are of Very Poor Quality. Lots of areas where the Resin doesn't even get near the Fiberglass. Very poorly made boats. Of course the "Lifetime Warranty" is Never Honoured
