- This set of music by Scottish traditional group Battlefield Band, was recorded on September 18th 2010, at their inaugural Music Tryst Festival at Newbattle Abbey in Scotland. The line up for this show was:
Fiddle - Alasdair White & Ewen Henderson
Bagpipes - Mike Katz
Guitar - Sean O'Donnell
Keyboards: Alan Reid
This set primarily features the fiddle talents of Alasdair White & young multi-instrumentalist Ewen Henderson, the latter having only joined the band in 2010. The band will remain as a five piece group for a US & Canadian tour in Nov 2010 before Ewen picks up the baton from founder member Alan Reid, who leaves the band at the end of the year.

On fire!
Fantastic!
I met Sean, Ewen, and Mike randomly while with a friend in Atlantic City New Jersey. We actually ran into them a few times and decided to get drinks together. They were great group to be around, very funny and very humble.
I just love how Alisdair is his own percussion too.
I saw you perform at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix many a year ago, remembering your spirit and talents always! Thank you.
Bloody fantastic!!!!!!!!
This is just one of the greatest things I've ever heard in my life.
I love the 'eyebrow' system of communication. You guys are sweet. Your music is so cheering.
I saw them last night in Pittsburgh (Nov. 13). Great show and incredible talents. The concert was thrilling to say the least.
I've got a crush on these two fiddlers! Haha! --My husband's okay with it! :)
They make my heart melt with their wonderful music and charming personalities! Gotta love them! We saw The B.B. live this week in St. Louis, Missouri! Woo-hoo! You all must come back soon! Don't wait 20 years! Had a nice little talk with Sean O. and Alisdair W. whilst purchasing a cd at half time. Gentlemen, keep up the marvelous work! You're just simply an amazing blessing!
Go, Scots! (And you, too, Sean O'Ireland)!
Mighty music!
Alistair& Ewen loved it. Ewen done a great show on tv about trad music and it's people etc, and finished in Cape Breton.

Wow! Amazing fiddling! Unbelievable- thanks for posting!
Blazing good!
The one Ewen plays from 3:13 is a tune called The Bishop's Son written by former Battlefield Band Fiddle Player John McCusker interestingly...
really.... thank you. i was recording it for 1000th on tunepal. have a good day dude
Brilliant stuff! Thank you for posting! Very excited to see the lads in Portland Nov. 14th!
Great...:-]
Sounds like Cape Breton Island to me, lads! (Happy Robbie Burns Day & Slainte! ; )
Funny how things turn out, Ewen and his sister were over in Cape Breton after they had a visit from a Bretonaire. He plays pipes as well as his fiddle.
the firtst one with the bagpipe (hte same in the beginning) is for sure "the swallow's tail"
3:13 reminds me of The Primrose Lassies
I need a pull of whiskey now
whisky - no e in scotland
The lads from Silly Wizard would be proud, be sure Phil would be tapping out a nice step at the pearly gates
You mean Johnny? Phil, as of this date, is still with us.
Must.. resist stomping foot.
beautiful tune; any idea what the name of the tune is played during the credits?
Great fiddling. Does anyone know the name of the second tune?
Really good playing from two of the most talented players. It reminds me a little of when a young Alasdiar joined the band ....is it 10 years ago now?
The video, highlights the difference between using a pick-up and a mic on a fiddle. In my view the pick up just can't reproduce the sound the instrument makes and I know Alasdair's fiddle sounds great acoustically. Sorry Alasdair but it's time to get a mic.
Can anyone tell me what pickup the fiddle player in the bright shirt is using.
Anyone have the name of the tunes from 3:13 onwards?:)
Anyone know the name of the last tune ?
@Brigantae "Sorry Alasdair but it's time to get a mic." Yes - such a great musician and you spoil it with poor amplification :-(
