You know when I first met you at SCAD, I felt a bit discouraged and even a little jealous that my work wasn’t as good as yours and I wasn’t as popular online. But now after watching your videos I feel inspired more than anything, to keep going and creating awesome art!

The last one really hit me more hard than it ever did. I'm an artist with autism who's still in an ongoing battle with the mindset of "I must make myself and my art popular" for years, and it hasn't simmered down ever since. I started making art about 13 years ago and even then, I had no idea where I wanted to go with my art. I just let it take me wherever it takes me. For the longest time, even if I'm happy and proud with how my latest artworks have been turning out, I've been frustrated with how poorly they've been performing, and I even end up comparing myself with other artists and my artist friends. It made me feel like I'm falling behind. It made me feel like I was a nobody. It made me feel like I didn't exist.
I was in a dark place, feeling like my art had no future. It's very easy for me to get frustrated with numbers on social media, so much so that I end up freaking out when I lose a single follower on Twitter. But then I managed to actually get people genuinely interested in my art. I got two or three people to regularly commission me. I even got to contribute artwork to a project. Even though my brain sometimes loves to tell me that I should just "give up", I still keep on going. Because I have potential. I see that potential. Others have told me that they see that potential. And why do I keep going? Because I want to see where my journey will take me, even if the end of the road shows me nothing.
I want to believe that "end of the road" leads me to bigger opportunities as an artist, because I've been happy with how well my art has improving lately. I wouldn't have traded it for anything else. There's another project I'm interested in that I'd absolutely be a part of and contribute my art to that, but I must create a lot more art if I want that opportunity.
So yes... I will keep going, even if sometimes I feel that there will be nothing at the end of the road.

What a powerful end to this amazing series you created! All solid tips and pieces of advice to new and experienced artists alike! I can certainly attest to trying new things so you don't burn out, and not to stress out over the numbers or whether you're popular yet (because ironically, those we deem the most "popular" are folks who don't stress over how other people see them).
Art Block as a whole is a series I believe will stand the test of time, for new artists to learn from and for veteran artists to agree with. You should be very proud of it my friend ^_^

I don't normally leave comments but wow this was a really good watch, sucks i missed the premier bc it would have been midnight in my timezone
I admit i need to work on points you made, like having my prices more viable/available without extra links (will be making a com sheet soon once i work on more examples), practice and get more out of my comfort zone as well the fundamentals
That last point hit right on can't count how many times i said my art 'wasn't good enough', especially around when i was trying to get into uni, but i keep pushing and now i'm more happy with my art now then was back then (even if it was only a couple of months ago). Not gonna lie was getting a bit emotional at that part :')
Sad to see this series finished but it was fun while it lasted c:
Can't wait to see hopefully more art content in the future ^^

I really agree to this and I change the topic almost everyday because I get new ideas and inspirations!
The one bad habit I have is trying to draw... ,,chibi" - ,,cute" - ,,baby animals"..... and I can't because I'm more of a realistic and fantasy-ish artist :>
I have a friend that constantly draws creepy ,,realistic" people aaaaand it gets annoying.... and I am a very opinionattive and extrovertive person and I asked her if she draws anything else than that and she replied with yeah... I see her draw the same topic almost everyday in school (when we have) and I come to her place and she does not change the theme. I will try and tell her ^^

Y'know this is a late comment but I keep rewatching this video, and I finally have something to say. I first found your channel a few years ago. I dont have have much details, but I liked the content and your personality.
One day, sometime in 2016 if I am remembering right, you started a live stream where you were playing minecraft and reviewing peoples ocs and artworks on deviant art. I sent a note to you on DA as you offered your viewers to do if they wanted critique. At the time I was hiding behind the name of a character I liked, I was afraid to be my own person. Cringe culture was rampet at this time, so me sending that note was a scary expiriance for me. I could've been torn apart, everyone could've pointed and laughed at me, I didnt know. Eventually you got around to reviewing my character. And....it wasnt that bad. My art was amatureish at the time, so of course there was more negative to say about it then positive, and it stung a bit, but I could learn from it, and more important then that, no one payed any attention. No one made fun of me for my art, character, or my name....it was enlightening. No one cared if I made bad art, no one cared if I was into this, or that. I noted you my art because I wanted critique but had my eyes opened instead.
It led me on a path to acceptance, that I can draw anything I want, I can post anything I want. Something so likely mundane to you at the time, was new to me. I'm still to this day learning to not be afraid of sharing my thoughts with the world, but I'm far better then I was.
I graduated recently. Im planning on going to collage, though not for art. Even still being in the art community has forever changed the way I look at the world. I'll never stop drawing. And when I eventually figure out where I want to go, maybe I won't be so afraid to make new friends.
I don't know if you read/will read this, but I just wanted to say thank you for helping me start on a better path. I appreciate it.

excuse me but nobody uses fur affinity to make shit, i once saw a cool pixel art on google but saw it was from fur affinity, which sucks because haden't they had been a furry and just used something NORMAL TO POST SHIT ON i would have followed them.
