My dad used to do this too. Obsessively look for parking spots where he didn't have to pay. Until my mother eventually pointed out to him that he has been paying for parking his entire life. In time. All the lost hours he spent looking for parking when he could have spent that time doing what he came to those spots to do. He's never been obsessed since.

For example, my family had 2 cars and 1 dedicated spot in the apartment. The one driven more often gets the spot, the one that sits idle more is parked on the street. That way we don't have to find parking all the time, but that also means that we are sequestering that space from everybody else. I see it all the time, cars that barely move are parked on the street for days. Basically free storage at government expense.
George got half his car in the spot so he obviously wasn't 3 cars out when mike got to the spot. It's George's spot. When Mike was close he would have seen George reversing in.
