About Seinfeld:
Seinfeld stars Jerry Seinfeld as a stand-up comedian whose life in New York City is made even more chaotic by his quirky group of friends who join him in wrestling with life's most perplexing, yet often trivial questions. Often described as "a show about nothing," Seinfeld mines the humor in life's mundane situations like waiting in line, searching for a lost item, or the trials and tribulations of dating. Co-starring are Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Jerry's ex-girlfriend and current platonic pal, Elaine Benes; Jason Alexander as George Costanza, Jerry's neurotic hard-luck best friend; and Michael Richards as Jerry's eccentric neighbor, Kramer.

Jerry shoving Elaine out of the way in slow motion was hilarious.
Her reaction face is brilliant.
I don't get what's so funny about it
@@poolsofbloodinyourstomach lol
she is so vital to this show
Getting psyched that they will get back together is always super funny
I loved Jerry's obsession with Superman throughout the show. It was hilarious.
He loves superman comics on real life too.
@@dragondude9637 Oh…Didn’t know that.
@@wrightvcx2249 LOL yeah that's why he made them put the Superman stuff in every episode.
you could even say it is a "running" gag :DDD very haha 5/5
It matches with him choosing to embrace Lois instead of Elaine. He’s achieved his Superman moment of triumph and must seal it by embracing his Lois. In any other episode, I think he would’ve hugged Elaine.
That superman theme makes the scene so great lol
The entire episode was Superman themed so it really tied things up nicely
And it’s even more fitting that his girlfriend’s name is Lois
And the overbite while running
Like how the wood makes it good
John Williams music makes everything great!
Gotta love how two grown men are instantly 9th graders again when they both simultaneously answer the gym teacher together "yes Mr. Bevilaqua"..
Unfortunately, Mr. Bevilaqua's son met with a terrible fate due to Tony Soprano.
@@starcrafter13terran Good catch!!
"Yes Mr. Drinkthewater"
Lmfaaaaaaooooo right?!?
@@starcrafter13terran At least Tony gave him his fresh beverage of choice before he offed him😅.
George’s hand gesture at ‘I choose not to run’ 1:33 👌
Yes!
As funny as the ending is, it really is beautiful in a way. It's genuinely the happiest I've seen the protagonists.
You're right, even George ended up winning in the episode
I tear up every time.
it was such a glorious moment
i wonder what the superman music cost them. whatever it was, it was definitely worth it
This is also the episode written the best Jerry/George moments. Seeing them revert to their high school selves is so revealing about their friendship. The way George raises his hand when Jerry says "I choose not to run" is one of the greatest, most subtle and genius moments of physical comedy I've ever seen.
kids today don't know that's the superman theme song!!
The fact that they tracked down their old gym teacher for this is icing on the cake.
I love how Kramer pretty much saved Jerry’s reputation, even though neither of them realized it.
It kinda made up for all the times that Kramer would inadvertently screw something up for Jerry lol
Jerry would have won even with the gun
Jerry was as fast as the wind...... that being said he needed a miracle to save him lol
@@Azola69 you think?
@@ivanjuarez1160 yes you can see he is faster lol
3:51 love how kramer is in the back just focused on his car problems lol
Kramer deliberately misfired his car to rig the race.
Lol good eye
Holy crap! How'd you even catch that?
Never noticed that! Thank you!
3:53
All Jerry has to do is drop Duncan's name and George immediately understands the implications of what that means. This is the best episode to understand just how long they have been friends with each other and how much they really know one another.
I love all the little moments that show the depth and history of their relationship. I always love the episode where George is talking about velvet and Jerry cuts him off "I know, I know, ensconced in velvet."
What is strange is that I don't even know where my high school friends are and I don't know anyone who is friends with their high school friends.
You noticed that too. The seriousness of how George reacted.
3:33 : I hadn't seen this in a long time, and I was thinking "it's weird that Jerry would hug Elaine first. Then... OHHH.. LOL
Every time I see it, it always gets me, even though I'm waiting for it.
The only thing that would have made it better is if Terri Hatcher had played Lois.

Jerry pushing Elaine out of the way is just priceless lmfao
And the expression on Elaine's face!
Because this was Jerry’s Superman moment and he wanted to seal it by embracing his Lois.
George raising his hand always kills me lol
3:27 "HE GOT A HEAD START!"
Love that slow-mo shout.
That fits! I wondered what he was yelling!
I love Elaine and George jumping together at 3:52 - a very rare moment of pure, genuine joy between them.
She got up off the ground pretty quick!
I dont know why, I lose it at Jerry warming up.and clutching onto his side 1:58 - 2:03 🤣🤣🤣
Duncan's face as he lost. Gets me every time. XD
And... he's in Detention. And fired!
🤣
You can see him mouthing, “HEEEE GOT A HEAD STARRRTTTT!!”
@@croftmire nice lip reading, I never knew what he said all these years. what else did he say when pushing the coach?
@@MLBlue30 it was a head start then yells a headscarf when he pushes him

"Nope"
"I choose not to run !" and then takes a drink à la J.R. Ewing 🤣😂🤣
Man that's some tart cider!
"Why I'd have to be Superman to do that, Lois" 😂😂
One of my absolute favorites. It's so purposefully sitcom-y and breaks the fourth wall. Seinfeld had a lot of unique episodes, but there is no other episode like this one
I love the subtle costume design of Jerry wearing a blue cardigan and red shirt when telling his race story alluding to him being like Superman
3:52 look at George and Elaine. They’re so cute 🥰
2:36 I love how they both say "yes, Mr Bevilaqua!" at the same time/together
shouldn't it have been 'Coach Bevilaqua'?? in my HS, they were always 'coach'.
The Race is my favorite episode. How much better of a comedy combination can you have when it is mixed with Superman, Santa Claus and Communism? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It sounds like the ingredients of a wacky Kevin Smith movie (Mallrats, Dogma).
This is probably the greatest 30 minutes in TV history.
This show is hands down the best 9 seasons of tv I’ve ever seen
FkN A. No doubt.
Me too!
3:02 Elaine's face cheering Jerry on
3:36
This is THE BEST sitcom ever. No one can change my mind.
I can. Check out a sitcom called Seinfeld and get back to me.
I love the way Jerry looks at the camera while he is running. It’s just like the time he took the Marble rye bread from that old lady and when he starts running away he looks directly at the camera. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
There's a reason why this show was the best.
The way he pushed Elaine 🤣🤣🤣
Also love the the ruse in the diner when George says: "yes, the big race".....that's gold Jerry, Gold!!!
Honestly, this would have worked great as the series finale.
I've always thought the same.
I think i would agree as it would be better than the actual finale which to me is more of a glorified clip show
Fr
The actual finale kinda sucked so yeah it definitely would’ve.
Yes
That orchestra had a Star Wars sound to it. I miss the '80s and '90s so much it hurts.
YES! Return of the Jedi, kinda feel.
John Williams wrote the Superman (used for this episode) and Star Wars theme music.
The themes to Star Wars and Superman, both written by John Williams, both written in the 1970s.
I love that Sienfeld is the only show that repeatedly says "he can't keep getting away with it" before he proceeds to keep getting away with it.
I've never seen this episode before but predicted what would happen and it didn't disappoint. True Seinfeld comedic writing right there. Did not know it would be Kramers car that gave him the early start though. Legendary story writing !
I miss this show sometimes. These were my only buddies during a low point of my life.
“I choose not to run” is what Calvin Coolidge said when declining a reelection bid.
I crack up laughing everytime at Kramer's exhaust - It's one of those moments that by itself shouldn't be funny but it's hilarious.
It’s great how you can tell Duncan was an actual athlete and Jerry was not 😂😂😂😂
Pfft, Jerry won two races, so tell me who is the real athlete.
They edited it as best they could, but Jerry runs flat-footed with feet shuffling like a fast walk instead of his knees lifting up. Even with a 10 yard lead in a 100 yard dash, Duncan would have caught him. It's like a grown man racing a little child. Sadly for Duncan, although the original race shot shows the tape being approximately 100 yards away. The shot at @3:11 shows it actually being less than 50 yards. Sorry, I ran track so this and other T&F Hollywood goofs always irritate me. If you want to show something athletic, just get an athlete to do it.
@@joelwillems4081 Take it easy dude. Its just a scene out of a comedy. No need to get so serious about it. Its all gonna b ok
@@joelwillems4081 Jerry's running is better and more symmetrical...
@@joelwillems4081 You ever think it might be on purpose rather than a goof? The whole scene is a spoof. I'd put my money on them doing it on purpose.
One of John Williams' most beautiful themes. If not the most beautiful.
This might be one of the greatest scenes in television history.
Fun fact: the bee from The Bee Movie voiced this.
nice
This is one of my favorite Seinfeld moments and a perfect example of how to subvert expectations in a good way. The normal Seinfeld formula would be for Jerry to spend the entire episode trying to squirm out of the race, then he is talked into it by his girlfriend, loses by a mile, and she breaks up with him. Instead it's a perfect twist of the formula, where another head start allows Jerry to win in the exact same manner he did before.
Duncan never had the makings of a Varsity athlete
haha
Small hands that was his problem
@@drewstl7757 You know what they say about men with small hands?
Small feet.

I love how Jerry pushes Elaine out of the way to the beat of the song.
2:50 Never noticed before, but the guy in the glasses standing behind Jerry is a witness to the misfire as he looks at the coach and says "Hey?"
Isn't that Christian Slater??
Now in 20 more years Jerry will have to race him as well
They could have checked the gun that wasn’t fired 😂
@@AzizMelb I think the coach is standing there like 'look man, a big 'kapow' went off what do you want me to do? I guess he's got better reflexes than you.... now if you excuse me, I'm off to lunch!
Jerry Seinfeld is faster than a speeding bullet.
This comment is so underrated
If you think about it, the race was settled anyway. Despite Jerry's headstart, Duncan was unable to close the gap or overtake him. Therefore, Duncan is clearly not faster than Jerry.
At 2:58 the gap equals about one car length, and at 3:18 Duncan seems to be a bit closer than that. So I do think he was a tiny bit faster.
@@OveBakken in truth, none of the shots are reliable. the depth of field flattens the perspective for the sake of the shot. you really need a profile shot for these things. you can discern SOME distance between the two, but nothing reliable.

Definitely one of my top 10 Seinfeld episodes!
I laughed out loud, and my cat just stared at me. I loooove Seinfeld.
I like how this episode played out exactly like a comic book. There’s a rival, the myth about about Jerry’s speed comparable to the “faster than a speeding bullet” analogy about Superman, he’s dating a woman name Lois whose in danger of losing her job, and of course, John Williams Superman theme. I always loved it when they incorporated Superman stuff into the show because just like Jerry himself, I’m a huge geek about Superman. If I had my own sitcom, I’d literally have done the exact same thing
Mr. Bevalaqua had a lot of extra commands. That's just asking for a false start. If you are a sprinter, "take your mark" literally means to get to the starting block. For sprinters and distance alike, "set" or "runners set" means to get in position and not move until the gun goes off.
Seems like nowadays, or at least ehen I was in highschool track, they usually bother to explain what will be said before the gunfire.
@@Delightfully_Bitchy He does, too, but the point is that with people's nerves and reflexes being what they are, when you add extra commands that don't really do anything, people are going to be extra jumpy.
3 min mark Elaine is looking straight down the street at Jerry waving her arms..next clip she is huddled with spectators looking to the side and yelling Jerry hehe.
That John Williams Superman Theme is just something else, man. It's so good and makes this scene so much fun to watch.
If the superman theme doesn't stir up some sort of emotion in you then you probably have no emotions. Similarly Rocky 🥊 🥊🥊🥊
I love how the gym teacher looks at the gun lol 😂
lol Anyone else spot the terrible extra in the bakground in the jean jacket mouthing the other actor's lines at 2:29

I miss the 90’s.
I find it funny that after Duncan takes off you can see Elaine in the background. Next shot shows her like she staring from the finish line. She was in fact faster than Jerry and Duncan
This has been my go to episode I recommend for people who say they don't like Seinfeld since the finale.
