I think, she descends from Prerinheri, or at least a clan he might have founded after leaving kahenri'ah... Remember how at the end of the book, he finally goes out of kahenri'ah.
Well, we know from her character story and voicelines that she is descendant from the Crimson Moon Dynasty Bloodline of Khaenri'ah which was before Eclipse Dynasty, so she is of royal descent presumably, which would require Perinheri to be a royal

I think there's some reincarnation shenanigans happening here. The blackened arms are shared with Cater, a known created creature at Narzissenkruz. I wonder if he was the prototype, and Arlecchino was a later successful one.

Also it's never explicitly stated that Ei had anything to do with the Fatui, she retired to the plane of Euthymia after Makoto passed to focus on her view of eternity, she left the day to day running of Inazuma to the Raiden Shogun Puppet. We learn during her quest lines that no new visions were handed out during the Sakoku decree timeframe and it surprised her.
It’s stated she was aware of their presence and let them run around no? However that doesn’t count as involvement it’s turning a blind eye / negligence

@@MALEKMEA that’s not what I meant, I was saying that saying Ei had “nothing” to do with them isn’t quite right. Since she was aware of the damage they were causing and allowed them to continue. I’m not pretending I think she’s a good person Nevermind a good Archon I actually think the worst part about her is the excuse of a “redemption” arc her story quests give her.

crackpot theory: arlecchino is just an avatar in teyvat and her essence is outside of teyvat. That glitch is to see if the traveler is capable of seeing it.
OR
arlecchino is in 2 places or more accurately 2 times and the glitch is information/memories being sent/received to/from the other.
another thing which kinda puzzles me is her line about childe, she says that he is talented and has room to grow, no need to judge him just yet. But the thing is they should be of at least somewhat similar age. If freminet joined in between the house king tournament and crucebina killing when arlecchino was 16-17, which itself probably happened sometime in the last 10 years max in my opinion, maybe 12-13 if we stretch it, and we assume childe is older than freminet, then childe and arlecchino should be around somewhat similar age, with arlecchino possibly being a bit older. But she's talking about him like she's some wise master watching a young pupil.
That + the fact that she acts and behaves like a very experienced adult person makes me believe that she has some sort of reincarnation cycle or can inherit or download memories from some old lives or something idk. I just don't know but that's the sorta vibe I'm getting. So her reincarnation of perinhery might make sense, or if not him then of something else

Imagine the Samsara is a copy of Teyvat's history before the Cataclysm. This copy was made in creation of the new Irminsul. The origional Irminsul was cutdown and then replanted to create a box dimension (Our Teyvat). What if the red is data collected by the corrupted Irminsul of the old Teyvat? Think of the old Teyvat as an apocalyptic wasteland like inside domains and is overan by Abyss creatures. That's why they need rifts to enter our Teyvat. Rifts are small spaces between dimensions.
*****Spoilers if you haven't done Arlecchino's Story Quest/Caterpillar's World Quest*****
Since it's a box dimension any changes to Irminsul's history would have to be altered to match the changes. So books may have genders/names changed to acommodate these changes. What if Arlecchino didn't go into a hearth but maybe a rift. Where she came face to face with the Crimson Moon. There was a merging of wills like Caterpillar did with a Hilichurl. Since the Crimson Moon is from the Old Teyvat and resides in the New Teyvat through Arlecchino, making her a glitch. Also, since Hilichurls are from the Old Teyvat, they would of brought some sort of corruption/curse. That would explain the black hands. This merging of wills could be considered as the old you has died and been born anew. As you're no longer you but a culmination of the two. Making them a new being. Which aligns with Perinheri.
*****Major Spoiler if you haven't done Arlecchino's Story Quest*****
During the fight against Arlecchino you get a glimps of the dimension inside her mind housing the Crimson Moon. Just like Ei/Raiden houses one of the Moon Sisters. Makoto must have been the first retainer when she ascended to Celestia to become an Archon before Ei/Raiden inherited her will through the Musou Isshin (sword). Since Ei/Raiden is a puppet, there's no sign of corruption/curse being merged with a Moon from Old Teyvat or the Crimson Moon is the only Corrupt one.
Alternate Theory:
Perinheri is Arlecchino's ancestor/parent. Since in the book Perinheri didn't recieve a curse when coming into contact with the Crimson Moon but Peruere did when she inherited the Crimson Moon's will. That's the only part in the Perinheri book that doesn't line up with Arlecchino. Other than the 6,000+ year old gap between now and the fall of the Crimson Moon Dynasty. Which if you look at Caterpillar again, he hasn't aged. This curse could slow down the aging process. Hillichurls suffer from an immortality curse. Where they're stuck in the same body forever while their mind/will dies instead. Caterpillar stays young because his will was put into a Hilichurl body. Arlecchino's curse is different because this is the junction of wills or the Crimson Moon's will in Arlecchino's body.
I can definitely see Arlecchino as being the reincarnation of Perinheri. She is the ONLY descendent of the crimson moon lineage left; there is no one else in Teyvat left that looks or comes from that same lineage either. It's like a never ending cycle, where all Arlecchino does is "resets" her body and mind and returns to her chibi self in order to start all over again.
AND NOBODY MENTIONED THAT THE THOUSAND EYES STATUE WINGS EERILY LOOKS LIKE Arleccino wings with eyes??

That's... actually believeable. First OK explanation I heard of this phenomenon. Her being someone's avatar inside Teyvat and her glitching being interpreted as losing connection to a satellite was a bit too much for me, but this explanation seems plausible.

Why arlecchino doenst glitch in animation short when she was young? Had no powers before delusion?
She did, she was born with them. You can see her curse progress at the very beginning of the short when she is burying her spider. She claims to have made some "sacrifices" in order to master her vision. Either that or the progression of the curse might be the reason why we only see her glitch as an adult. Or she may be able to control it and is purposefully showing the traveler, as she doesn't ever do it during the quests. Maybe she shushes us because she really is letting us into her little secret.

If you keep in mind that Nahida said the siblings record in irminsul gets fuzzy towards the end. God knows, maybe they found the hearth mentioned in perinheri and went through the same thing.
@@Rougelesss true enough. My theory is that celestia killed our sibling(and used their original body to make gnosises) and sealed their soul in abyss. Khaenrians found our sibling and worshipped them as their hope and deity, creating perfect primordial human body for them (like albedo). Hence they ain't descender(?) And considered a part of teyvat. But I might be wrong so.. yeah.

Correct me if im wrong but the tree has never affected a “person” in teyvat. Only memories. So i feel like her glitching to imply her severed connection to the tree falls off.
For example. That thing with scara. He still did all those terrible things, the tree didnt make it so it was another person. It(the tree) just changed the “memories” of the ppl which is what courses through the leylines
That's a good point! That said, Arlecchino has a far stronger connection to memories than most, that's what her power is all about. I wonder if that affects her relationship with Irminsul, even if she can be tracked like any other teyvatian.
1:10 Seems like defying their own fate is the last thing any Harbinger can do. Scaramouch is so railroaded they still have his slot left open waiting for him. And René says that getting a Vision ties you to fate. As an organization the Fatui might be trying to defy the fate of Teyvat but it seems as individuals the Harbingers fate is to be Harbingers and most likely we'll see more of that with further Wanderer quests. At any rate it's odd that Arlecchino's stuff flatly contradicts René.
1:50 This probably needs more research. Fatui turn blue. Treasure hoarders have smoke. Emerites turn to sand. I'm not sure about vishaps and the husks. The boss Vishaps at the bottom of Enkanomiya go red. I'm not sure if there's a hidden rule or not.
The Pari are said to have to hang around to be brought back to the Amrita Pool after they die. it feels like the Pari-Amrita-Havistockhm cycle is a miniatured model of the Irminsul stuff.

As for the rest of the speculation... I just think Arlecchino's story sucks and we'll never know any more. My default assumption would be she's no more than as presented. A perfectly ordinary child with a weird curse. No connection to Khaenri'ah at all beyond that her far far back ancestors were from there.
Do you have a theory on her Vision casing?
Her Vision casing being Snezhnayan is probably the same reason why Wanderer's is in a Sumeru case, despite him being originally from Inazuma; or Thoma, who's from Mondstadt but has an Inazuman Vision~
But Arlecchino is in Fontaine.

I'm a subscriber to the belief that Perinheri is most likely the abyss twin. Many clues that support this statement are:
1) Perinheri's gender in the original Chinese translation changes and is the opposite based on what gender you chose as the traveler.
2) Perineri is also considered an outlander but not a descender just like our abyss twin.
3) The abyss twin was present during the Crimson Moon Dynasty.
But our Twin could not have been present in Khaneriah during the rule of Crimson Moon Dynasty, because the Twins were summoned to Teyvat during the rule of the Eclipse Dynasty.

She doesn’t decide who gets visions, but neuvilette’s character stories state that, although archons don’t choose those who borrow their power, they still have a duty to give fractions of their power in the form of visions. So Tldr: they don’t choose an individual specifically, but visions are still fragments of their power. But as to who distributes it and by which criteria is still unclear

@@Absolumdan no, it's only Ei that is THAT autistic. The other Archons (we've met so far) are well aware they play a part in granting visions. Nahida presumably knows because she is the Archon of Wisdom, Zhongli & Venti both know because they are part of the Old Guard that has been around for millennia and know how Teyvat works.

I don't personally like him being (linked to) Perinheri, or Rostam or a Khaenrian Knight, Menogias or The Bloodstained Knight... just make him someone unique without links to the other Harbingers or their stories.
I'm sure her lore isn't actually that deep and it gonna be something like collei where dettore put some old dead god remains in her when she was a baby and she learned to control it over time she is a snezhnayain according to her vision shape and she can't be releated khaenri'ah because she doesn't share any of the similarities of khaenri'ahins she is probably tube baby like albedo i would be surprised if she is made from the DNA of the harbinger that she killed and dottore because they are known to collaborate and the mother had her eyes on her since childhood as for the god it has to be a phoenix giving that her skin burns when she is sad or angry and regenerate when she finds clarity as for the moon in her dreams it has to be the memories of that god and her Chinese means servant meaning she is just a tool for a greater entity that lives inside of her
bro, literally the ingame confirms that arlecchino is "the last descendant of the crimson moon dynasty" not someone who has crimson moon blood which can be interpreted as the result of an experiment
If Arlecchino had a lore like what you said, she would just be a garbage character who copied and pasted Albedo and Collei's backstory, and I don't see her character as a cliche character, considering how Hoyo adore her character.
