Bloody brilliant job Lou. Handy hint for the less experienced, as well as using the tape and pilot hole, use a centre punch or even a small sharp nail or screw to mark the hole. It helps to stop the drill bit wandering. You can make a disposable punch by filing a nail sharp heating it to red hot then plunging it into cold water to harden it (if water doesn't work try oil). It won't last long but who cares, it's a nail. Oh and always wear eye protection

I am very afraid the sheetmetals of vans are so thin that at least for my weight some additional bracing might be needed. The van roofs are also made of surprisingly thin material, have to careful while wash. But solid roof racks are available, I quess. But for you two, no problems. Thanks for the video.
Thanks, I've got some at the workshop just couldn't be bothered to go back and get them. This is the trouble with doing it in the street, I can only keep limited tools in our hallway lol and don't like leaving them in the van. 👍😁
@@campervibe I'm not surprised you have them you seem to have most tools. It's unusual to see a woman who is as talented in practical skills but its cool to see. I've been converting my van for a year as I not in any hurry. I'm really enjoying the process of building it as I refine the design as I go ☺

@@campervibe thanks, mine is about 80% done. What I did was fit the windows, insulated and fitted the floor straight away. Then I was able to use it for weekends albeit as a shell. I took my time as people often say they want to change something and I wasn't 100% sure about my layout at the start. Keep up the good work, you're both well worth a sub 👍
I know I ask loads of questions and you're very helpful, can I ask when the ladder is fitted how is it with the rubbers on the back bumper , i like to reverse backed up to a wall and sometimes my rubbers touch the wall which is all good and no issue , would the ladder hit the wall and bend my doors ? This wouldn't stop me getting one but I'd like to know if possible and I'd have to be extra careful cheers
I'm not sure I know which rubbers you mean but our ladder does extend a bit further than the length of our van, so in our case we need to park a little further forward.

I was worried about that but where I've put it it has no effect on the parking sensors at all. The sensor if I remember is in the black plastic bumper so just make sure your ladder misses that I guess.
Hi there, yeh personally I would, it's handy for going up to clean the solar panel. If you have the space and don't mind the faff then you could carry one of those telescopic ones, would do the same job and less of a security risk, we've had no problems so far tho 😁

Just a tip, get yourself a step drill bit.
It enables you to enlarge a hole easily leaving a clean hole without burrs 👍
