hey i went and listened to that guy’s podcast series on Cabeza de Vaca off of this vid. It was incredible!! I listened to all of the episodes twice! Thank you! he has a lot of other episodes on Texas archaeology and history stuff that I am also looking forward to. ahhhh so many great podcasts to listen to though!
Loved the video...thank you. Estavanico being black and De Vaca being white must have added to their wonderment on top of the strange knowledge they brought with them. Long time ago, I spent my youthful summers exploring Follet's, Moody's and Mud Islands...from the pass to Bastrop, Christmas and Drum Bays, which much being walkable/wadable and easy with a small boat. There is a lot of food there along with mosquitos, flies, fleas and snakes to name a few...all the more so in the early 1500's...birds must of blanketed the skies during migrations, plus fish, shrimps/crustaceans and oysters/clams had to be super abundant in those intercoastal waterways, but I could not imagine living there with no modern conveniences. Now that is roughing it and freshwater must have been a big chore. Them moving to Galveston Island was not much different. I wonder what they would think now...good or bad? I think I would love to visit there back then, but not stay there without our conveniences. ❤❤✌✌
Yes! Thank you for watching! Please check out that podcast from Brandon Seal linked in the description! He compiles Cabeza De Vaca’s account with modern historical evidence while telling the entire story of the group!
@@galvestonunscripted Okay I will. Thanks. You think you could have made it back then?... Not me lol It really is amazing that they survived their journey to Mexico City from the DR. Personally, I think it is worthy of an epic Hollywood movie. It would make Dancing with Wolfs look like a cakewalk...lol
Great timing, I am just finishing Cabeza de Vaca’s account right now. It’s only 100 pages but what amazing adventure. “I wandered through many very strange lands, lost and naked … This is the only thing that a man who left there naked could bring back with him.”
