    Hello Chris. I have been very keen to find out about this lens since it was announced, and I remember you saying in a previous video that 28mm is not a focal length for you, so I thank you very much for taking the time to review the lens. been a while since I last saw a video from you on canon dslr.I was wondering if you had moved on from your 70d to a full frame or something different.
    I ask, as I too invested in the 70d after watching quite a few of your videos. And would like to know your views of what would be ideal a canon camera as a follow up to the 70d.
    80d is too similar so not exactly the best option. Would you agree.
    Hoping 2019 finds you as blessed as always.

    Hi @Christopher, I haven't been a photographer or camera buddy for a long time but since I have now jumped into it, now I'm wondering as to why do we have to multiply every lens's focal length to 1.5 or 1.6 in my Canon 200D case to ge the actual focal length. And this also apply to the lenses specifically made for APSC bodies. Could you please explain this to your audience in some future Q&A type of a video. God bless you and ♥ from here.
    Waiting for your thumbs up.

    • @christopherfrost
      @christopherfrost  5 лет назад +1

      APS-C cameras have a smaller sensor than full-frame, so the image is cropped. If you own a Canon APS-C camera, then you always, always, always multiply by 1.6x, whatever the lens may be.

    • @Baluchishair
      @Baluchishair 5 лет назад

      @@christopherfrost Thanks a lot, and God bless YOU. That is actually my concern, that why do we have to do this multiply job? When a camera lens is made for APSC bodies, and in some cases, it even doesn't fit to full sensor cameras but we still have to multiply its focal length to get the actual measurements. Can't they make someting perfectly made for APSC when it is indeed made for APSC? I'm sorry, bcz this thing isn't your fault it is the companies, they do it without any sense.
      Thanks by the way, I was thinking it as a fault from those manufacturers, like, I mean when something is made for some thing why it is not ferfect on it.
      What if there would be a lens called **** 28mm f/2.8 **** APSC and it actually give the result of 28mm f/2.8 on its concerned body....

    • @christopherfrost
      @christopherfrost  5 лет назад +2

      @@Baluchishair It makes sense to me - I think it would actually cause a lot of confusion if manufacturers started naming some of their lenses by equivalent focal length and others by the actual focal length. It keeps things simple this way - people who own APS-C cameras can know that they simply have to multiply by 1.6x no matter what the lens is.

    • @Baluchishair
      @Baluchishair 5 лет назад

      @@christopherfrost, Thanks a lot dear, this somehow clears a bit of my mind. • @steven2809
      @steven2809 5 лет назад +1

      voll idiot After 40 years I know what 28mm at f1.4 looks like..... The problem is marketing departments have to come up with a reason to buy their new product....whether you need it or not. With Sigma at present it’s wide maximum aperture...which any lens designer will tell you compromises the ultimate optical quality of the lens in terms of field curvature and aberrations. As I said anyone using 28mm will be capturing landscapes, street images or groups. Probably at f5.6 ........it’s just practical experience my friend....not marketing hype.

    • @steven2809
      @steven2809 5 лет назад

      aceflibble Fine. I would not disagree with your choice...if you like it then that’s fine. Event photography at maximum aperture will be challenging with that narrow depth of field. Press photographers use flash for a reason....Portraits with a wide angle are rarely successful because of the distortion to facial features caused by the perspective. Modern cameras have such improvements to ISO speed from modern sensors and in built image processing engines that fast maximum apertures are not the requirement they were even 10 years ago....let alone in the old film days! Fast maximum aperture has just in my opinion become the latest marketing lever....just like high resolution audio....8K video for 40 inch TV sets..etc..etc.. A fool and his money are soon parted....

      DoF changes with sensor size assuming the same aperture and same effective placement of the subject (ie. further away to fit them in the frame).

      @@daysandwords it’s physically and optically impossible to change the dof of a lens with a sensor size.
