I made one out of my old middle school band tee, and I LOVE it. I wear it to bed all the time. It's awesome. I love all these old threadbanger episodes. I've tackled so many projects that I would have never dreamed of, and now I'm even creating my own designs and letting them come to life. You guys are awesome!
Wow this tutorial was absolutely amazing!! It only took me about 45min to make this style and this tutorial really helped me acheive the look! Thank you sooo much Megan!!
Megan, you are my idol. Recycling is so satisfying for me. I love jersey fabric, so comfy, and can look so luxurious, and I love that you never have to finish the edges because it won't ravel. Store bought clothes never fit me right, and I can never find what I am looking for, I have to make what I find work for me, and that doesn't work! Now, I can make clothes for my body, in my colors, for pennies, in minutes! You are such an inspiration!! Thanks!
I DID IT!!! I turned a tee into a halter, but it was WAY too loose (Thanks, Stairmaster!) so I cut down the back, snipped and tied 1 inch sections. Now I have a cool halter with a cool visaul appeal in the back. This was my first DIY and I'm addicted.
Oh my gosh - SOOOOOO adorable!!!! Thanks, I think I just found my next project. I'm gonna go to thrift stores for cheap t-shirts. Megan is adorable as well :) Tract
First, MAJOR kudos on the Gogol Bordello shirt Rob! And those halters are awesome to make and they're super easy! i've made several, and they go great with an old cardgan during the winter months (well, at least in the 75 degree winters of southern california). Thanks for being awesome!
It came out great in the front but hanged a little too low in the back. I took the advice of another commenter and corseted it. Viola! Fantastic!, thanks for the tutorial!
@AmyKatieGirl thats so cool when you think you've screwed up but you find a way to make it look even better!! hope you have good luck with all your projectes in the future!!
Helpful hint: If you can't sew or don't have a sewing machine, hair glue works wonders. It's permanent and after a full day of drying, can withstand washes perfectly. Also, if you cut too much off the hem and your strap breaks, the piece of fabric that was cut off the back can be cut long-ways and stretched to make another strap.
i love this shirt its was my frist shirt recon with my slayer shirt i did for one of their concerts, and everyone loved it i had people come up to me at the concert was wondering where i had gotten it from :)
Could you please show Rotation Station from the second book? That one's my favourite, and it's not all that different from the T-Bird halter top. It's the same thing, except with the drawstring tube on both the front and the back, so the T-shirt hem runs through both tubes, and then ties over one shoulder. It's a lot more covered than a regular halter top, and you don't need a really fitted T-shirt to make it.
I love Megan, and her book. Ahhh. BUT when I saw the new Generation T products in stores, I was a little taken aback. Already printed iron-ons seemed like it was taking the real diy out of it. And I was especially horrified at the star wristband made like a real sweat-band... it's a project from the book itself to be made from t-shirts! Why would anyone wanna diy it like the book shows when they can go buy one at Michael's. BOO for that from me.
That was a really cool episode! Thank you very much! However, what´s the pink tutu got to do in the background in the beginning? It was on the last episode, too... is there another project to be? Just wondering :-)
Try using a small hem on the shirt, it's the same thing as when you made the hole for the string except it gets sewn closed once you are done. If you don't know how to do one, then you can look up how to for a nice tutorial.. =3

I would love a tutorial on how to turn a t-shirt into a pencil skirt !
ahh now i shall go buy a bunch of Tshirts to play with;) thank you for a new time filler:)
Maybe she used dark thread as an aesthetic choice? I sometimes like to have my thread in a contrasting color because it looks cool.
awesome ^__^ sounds easy =) though i'm guessing for this project i'll need a t-shirt that fits relatively well in the first place...??
