Social Media is a great way to really get the word out. Once the T-Shirt is designed, take a cell phone and record people wearing the cloths. Post it to RUclips, FaceBook and other platforms. Ask your friends to help spread the word. The cool thing about SM is that one person can reach 100s or 1000s with one post. If you have 2-5 friends post it to their networks, that is a lot of people reached. Great video Evan.
I'm currently beginning my own clothing line. I recommend going to fashion events and speaking to people who have done what you want to do. the advice given is great and its an awesome networking opportunity. Try to keep in contact with these people as they can help and support in the future. :)
I'd recommend finding someone else who's interested in being part/trying to create the company, it really helps you stay on track and not give up very easily

I'm currently in the planning stages of starting my business (which by the way, Evan, you have helped me stay on a sensible path, so thank you!). I have absolutely no capital, I can barely afford bread and milk most of the time, except for payday week. So I have had to make a whole load of decisions based on that fact. My game plan is to basically strengthen my social connections and extend my reach. I am slowly building hype around my first project (a lucid dreaming game) during the design stage. Certain folk naturally want to help me already, so I'm getting the community involved (my target audience of course). In doing this, people take on a feeling that it's a part of themselves and this will be valuable for when marketing comes, for obvious reasons. However, I don't treat these people like "targets", in fact, I try my hardest to actually forget that they are valuable to me, because I actually want to help people first and foremost, which is what I want my business to represent. The marketing up-sides are natural phenomenons of being a good human being in this day and age, I'm simply recognizing that. My point is, I believe strong social connections are everything. I think you have to know who you are and what you want to represent, and you just need to show that to as many people as possible. You might find the work just doing itself (sort of), and you'll learn so damn much in the process (which, by the way, you should pay attention to). I dunno, or is it just me? Hi, when naming a business would you name it with your legal name which is very catchy, or with something that may be used as a slogan? I was thinking about using my name along with a very catchy slogan, but the slogan can be used as a business name as well. I like both so much and am so undecided. I am doing this Evan, working in a character/cartoon with a mission to help remember people smile every day, every morning! Eventually have like a line of products around it. I'm in a tough situation. I feel like I have great ideas and need to get them made but the only thing is I can't draw to save my life! I want to get a graphic designer to do it but they're so expensive. I'm only 19 and struggle to pay rent yet pay some like $50 an hour to do the designs. I also find it hard to get a job working for a clothing line as they mainly only take on people with experience and studied the field.

This was definitely a helpful video but what I did to help start me off before I went and bought a crap ton of shirts I made a few promo clothing and what I did I had a couple of my friends wear them for me and I took pictures of them and plastered them all over my Facebook Twitter Instagram all over my college campus and talking to people getting their inputs on why they like and dislike my clothing which really helped me out if I wanted to start making clothes for all types of people with all sorts of styles and not just focus on one base as I continued to progress in building my reputation i simply started off with simple designs and quotes like "#" then a quote or something like that since everybody was saying and over using the hashtag why not put it on a shirt and a friend f mines was having a huge birthday party at our local bar and I made like 30 shirts and because hashtag was and still kind of popular within the first 15-30min I sold 20 of them and made at least a good 87% of the money I spent into getting them made and printed back. So promoting is a very big part of how to build your reputation for your clothing line and a way to get a huge fan base and what you can also do make 15-20 shirts and just give them away who doesn't like free things and give them a flyer wit your info because somebody they know might like your designs and would want to buy one and a friend of a friends friend might want to buy shirt or hoodie or whatever your selling and that's causing more people to promote your line without you having to do anything.
I want to sell clothing, like I have ideas on what to make but the thing is idk what to do. I was thinking of starting on etsy.com and promoting myself on apps like twitter, instagram, the hunt.. but I want to be successful in this. I dont want to go out and spend money that I dont have and have my garage full on inventory when no one is buying it. Also even if it does sell it would be pointless to waste money on the supplies and then just gaining that same amount of money I lost. I need incoming money, not just loose $50 on supplies and end up gaining $50 by selling an item. And I dont have time to get a part time job nor do I want to.

I have a load of questions that would benefit me if you answered :) Would adobe illustrator be okay to be make a logo for a clothing line? If so how can I get the highest resolution? Also what should I avoid because I'm scared of a copyright sue e.g. using illustrator fonts or similar logo to other people but I designed it myself without looking at theres?? And the logo name? Because I dont have the amount of money needed or the right equipment, is it ok if I start my clothing line by asking other people to do it for me? To be more clear I will make my own designs, logos, etc. , then ill give it to people that I know who actually have the equipment to screen print and do embroidery so they can actually make the "dream come through". Hi, when naming a business would you name it with your legal name which is very catchy, or with something that may be used as a slogan? I was thinking about using my name along with a very catchy slogan, but the slogan can be used as a business name as well. I like both so much and am so undecided. I'm in a tough situation. I feel like I have great ideas and need to get them made but the only thing is I can't draw to save my life! I want to get a graphic designer to do it but they're so expensive. I'm only 19 and struggle to pay rent yet pay some like $50 an hour to do the designs. This was definitely a helpful video but what I did to help start me off before I went and bought a crap ton of shirts I made a few promo clothing and what I did I had a couple of my friends wear them for me and I took pictures of them and plastered them all over my Facebook Twitter Instagram all over my college campus and talking to people getting their inputs on why they like and dislike my clothing which really helped me out if I wanted to start making clothes for all types of people with all sorts of styles and not just focus on one base as I continued to progress in building my reputation i simply started off with simple designs and quotes like "#" then a quote or something like that since everybody was saying and over using the hashtag why not put it on a shirt and a friend f mines was having a huge birthday party at our local bar and I made like 30 shirts and because hashtag was and still kind of popular within the first 15-30min I sold 20 of them and made at least a good 87% of the money I spent into getting them made and printed back. So promoting is a very big part of how to build your reputation for your clothing line and a way to get a huge fan base and what you can also do make 15-20 shirts and just give them away who doesn't like free things and give them a flyer wit your info because somebody they know might like your designs and would want to buy one and a friend of a friends friend might want to buy shirt or hoodie or whatever your selling and that's causing more people to promote your line without you having to do anything.

I want to sell clothing, like I have ideas on what to make but the thing is idk what to do. I was thinking of starting on etsy.com and promoting myself on apps like twitter, instagram, the hunt.. but I want to be successful in this. I dont want to go out and spend money that I dont have and have my garage full on inventory when no one is buying it. Also even if it does sell it would be pointless to waste money on the supplies and then just gaining that same amount of money I lost. I need incoming money, not just loose $50 on supplies and end up gaining $50 by selling an item. And I dont have time to get a part time job nor do I want to.

If so how can I get the highest resolution?
Also what should I avoid because I'm scared of a copyright sue e.g. using illustrator fonts or similar logo to other people but I designed it myself without looking at theres?? And the logo name? I don't see anyone using it, but there might be someone who already has rights towards it?

Hey great videos! I am also one of many people who want to find success through the clothing industry, so my question is...(more like a concern)... Because I dont have the amount of money needed or the right equipment, is it ok if I start my clothing line by asking other people to do it for me? To be more clear I will make my own designs, logos, etc. , then ill give it to people that I know who actually have the equipment to screen print and do embroidery so they can actually make the "dream come through". Then after the order is finished so I can sell them as my clothing line. How does that sound??

Ive been trying to start a retail game supply store that is similar to Game Stop for the last 3 years now.
The first year i work on having credit. so i build my credit score to 800
The second year i work on my business plan on the website Live Plan.com and its about 70% complete only because i keep getting stuck on the finances of the total cost and the end yearly estimated revenue.
And the third year i join the army. so by finishing up my four years their, they could help me with a loan for the business. Because the majority of investors and bankers are not giving to help start small businesses even with good credit.
But i got sick during basic combat training and was unable to finish.
