Kudos to the bass player for bringing a LOT of the original wonderful countermelody played by Bob Babbitt. And for the arranger and production crew that kept it nicely on top of the mix where it belongs. It really is one of the things that makes this song great.

I think it's good to have singers from different genres to do a tribute or just simply cover a classic from another genre. The history has proved it is totally wrong to stay "original" and it is good to bring a bunch of audience in one genre to appreciate another genre. Though of course it sounds pretty different for a country artist to do an R&B classic, the difference makes the world. Beyoncé's Irreplaceable was adapted from a country record, and Linda Ronstadt's You're No Good was an R&B song by Dee Dee Warwick. They sound great.

No one can do that song like she can. He tried and did his best, which was pretty good for Garth but soul music isn’t his thing just like “Low Places” wouldn’t be hers. However I’m pleased to see that he was adventurous and confident enough to try this, especially at this type of event - that takes balls of steel to pull off!!

Then some years later you did a special musical show and talked about how you used to sing with your mother when she drove the family car! You are the youngest and you hung out with your mother. I also started watching you whenever you were on Oprah's old show on channel 7. Now , I can't tell the exact year because my brain doesn't work like that! Where and whenever I see a clip showing you singing, I stop to watch and listen.
