- Today we are looking at a game that really disappointed me in the past. We're going to be reviewing Jinks for the Atari 7800, developed by Softgold and published by Atari Corp in 1989. So did I discover something that changed my opinion about Jinks, or is it as bad as I thought it was? Lets watch, shall we?
I rate games on a 5 point scale and here is what each score means:
5 out of 5 is PERFECT! These are the best of the best and you NEED to play them!
4 out of 5 is Great! Almost everybody will enjoy these games.
3 out of 5 is Good. Most people should have a good time with these games but they have flaws.
2 out of 5 is Bad. Most people shoud AVOID these games because they have major flaws!
1 out of 5 is GARBAGE! Nobody should play these toxic piles...
I also occasionally look at hardware, controller and peripherals! I rate these on a scale of recommended, undecided, and not recommended. I think these ratings should be self explanatory...

The Atari Network has 3 goals (besides entertainment) that I hope embodies everything the channel does:
1. Bring awareness to Atari, especially the often ignored Tramiel and 7800 era
2. Make sure the hardworking people both new and old (from the old guard at Atari corp to the new developers keeping Atari alive) get the recognition that they deserve for their hard work
3. Preserve the history of Atari in the video game hobby so that it survives long after us

I picked up this cart for the collection, and well, yup, i have it
I was thinking about adding this to my collection. Best Electronics has this new in box for $30. In fact this is the 7800 game with both sides of the box pictured on the famous site. But thanks to this review I will not be wasting my money on this one. The futuristic pickle/wiffle ball will not be annoying me.
If you want a game with solid gameplay that's well worth your money I can't recommend this one...
Thanks for watching Jolt!
For an abstract looking title like this, they should have used the high resolution mode.
Good point, it would've made sense...
Jinx stinx! Lol sorry couldnt help myself. Greatvideo as always. 2 is too high. Hah did it again.
I can't believe I never thought of that! Perfect rhyme my friend, 10 out of 10!
Btw isnt jinx the cartridge everyone butchers to put a homebrew game on?
@@rameybutler-hm7nx your thinking of Ballblazer I do believe which is a much better game in my opinion!
Why why why can’t Atari 7800 games have BGM in the stages!!?? Almost none of them have any! The answer is because Jack was cheap but they were hurting themselves because it made the games look so much lesser compared to NES stuff.
The carts were meant to have audio chips on them for enhanced audio when necessary. But only 2 ever had audio chips and none used the Minnie that GCC had started developing. A crying shame
@@TheAtariNetworkyou could still program music anyway. They just rarely did because it costs more.
They could've and should've!
I had not heard of this one before. You are right, at first it sounds very intriguing, level progression with breakout style gameplay? Sounds great! However the longer I watched the video the more I agree that this looks miserable.
I don't know that I agree about the sound, I think that's just What you get with Atari games for the most part. Granted the one where the ball hits a ton of bricks and makes that buzzing sound was pretty bad LOL
Since you say you like the breakout style games what did you think about breakout recharged? I was actually a little underwhelmed to be honest.... Great video as usual!
I was underwhelmed by Breakout Recharged as well. Honestly I prefer the new breakout game on the Atari 50th. I'm hoping we get Tile Smashers from Video61 soon to the Atari 7800 but I'm probably gonna cave and get the 5200 version.
Maybe I was too harsh on the sound but idk there are plenty of Atari 7800 games that I like the sound of. This one might range from average to awful but there's too much awful in my opinion. As always thanks for watching!
The best part about this game is the Title screen and music. Otherwise, it's a turd.
I cannot stand this game. I tried so hard to like it, but it’s too frustrating for its own good.
I agree
Amazing, these games had so many potential fans & disappointed them all
You might get jinxed because of this game.
Side scrolling Breakout sounds awesome. unfortunately this game looks and sounds like a dud...
