    What happens when four legends of British stage and screen get together? Dame Maggie Smith, Dame Judi Dench, Dame Eileen Atkins, and Dame Joan Plowright are among the most celebrated actresses of our time, with scores of iconic performances, decades of wisdom, and innumerable Oscars, Tonys, Emmys, and BAFTAs between them. They are also longtime friends who hereby invite you to join them for a weekend in the country as they catch up with one another, reminisce, and share their candid, delightfully irreverent thoughts on everything from art to aging to love to a life lived in the spotlight. Bursting with devilish wit and whip-smart insights, Tea With The Dames is a remarkable opportunity to spend time in the company of four all-time greats-up close and unfiltered.

    Such titans of the stage and screen! Such a treat to watch these amazing women just talk. However, the trailer is the best part as there were a lot of silences in the film, some too long, that verged on tedium. I wish the questioner had asked better or more insightful questions, but the actresses kept it interesting, despite the often boring questions they were asked. I loved that their incredible faces are real: not botoxed, face-lifted, silicone-implanted, or filler-filled. Thus, they don't look like caricatures, but as women who have lived interesting lives, with marvelous faces that tell the tale.

      @MrTonyInchpractice 5 лет назад +4

      @Kira-gracexo julie andrews is divine, i used to celebrate her birthday every year. but she is not anywhere near as good an actor as these 4.
      maggie smith is far more private than julie, so that's not the reason these 4 are given more attention than julie when it comes to acting ability. the reason is that these 4 have played roles such as cleopatra, jocasta, lady macbeth... they have played these roles because their range and authority allows it- julie does not have their range or their armoury of technique.
      she is not just as good- she is a very limited actor and it's insulting, actually, and ignorant to state that- as ignorant as my saying judi dench is as good a singer as julie (she was the lead in cabaret and a little night music!) but she doesnt get the same praise because she decided to work in straight acting.

    In our yankee defense we do not how to address. Dame. Sir Lord. Baron come on now. It’s really ridiculous

    Joan Plowright, not. It's my opinion.

    Of course bring means you get to use your own name not your husband’s. However I I agree - being called Lady such and such sounds better than Dame …

    I’m really glad we don’t do this in America. Bruce Jenner would be almost courageous Dame.

    So there Dame Maggie, Dame Judi, Dame Eileen, and then a Molly Sugden impersonator who's only claim to fame is appearing in a third rate production of Dennis The Menace.

      what did Dame Joan Plowright do to you?

      @@williama7124 nothing at all. She's just a mediocre actress, who married a hammy, O.T.T., but much more highly regarded at the time, actor, from which she gleaned all her future "glories", and its the only reason she has a Damehood, unlike all the others, who are top tier.

      Phil Y, you must have been apoplectic then when Joan Collins received her Damehood, star of such memorable
      films and tv, Dynasty, Benidorm, The Stud and let's not forget The Bitch, fabulous dahling.

      @@majesticworld255 Don't get me started. That trollop has been flouncing around like the Queen of Sheba since day one, but she couldn't act herself out of a paper bag. She can't even wear a wig convincingly.

      @@phily8093 Joan Collins actually became a dame for her charity work. Which, when you think about it is a lot more noble and honour worthy than ones "contribution to drama", whatever that even means.
      Never mind the fact that she's in her late 80's, has been acting for 70 years, has more joie de vivre than those a quarter of her age, looks incredible, exudes old Hollywood glamour and is generally a pretty classy lady.
      Sounds like a dame to me.
