Well Mariah inspired Beyoncé to sing so this is not fair. I’d say Beyoncè is good but she’s just not AS free in her upper belts as Mariah. Beyoncé also sounds like shes at the top of her range hitting anything about a E5 and you can tell there’s not as much embellishments or note changes. Also Mariah is more dynamic in her upper register she has more variation in color in that area than Beyoncé who sounds kind of the same

What is strange is that despite mariah being a soprano, to me her tone sounds more mature than beyonce. Like beyonce from like her debut to 2010 still sounded kind of like a teenager to me. Her voice was very light and youthful, but mariah sounded more like an adult.

I love both but this video is not the way you compare them. 1. The note comparison starts at C5, when Bey is a Mezzo, how is that fair. Of course Mariah is going to soar on these notes. 2. The recording styles are different. Most of Mariah's stuff are from the 90's which studios back then actually utilized the acoustics of the studio to boost sound, dont get me wrong Mariah has massive resonance but that aided as well, whereas most songs are compressed in the mid to late 00's. These are just 2 things that should be taken into account if you are comparing them.
Mariah is so smooth and natural with her runs and riffs with amazing range, her voice is the focal point as a singer whereas Beyoncé is more technical and rough to match her focal point as an all around performer. Beyoncé has time on her side as a vocalist tho, she only gets better with time compared to Mariah who was in her clear cut legendary prime in the 90s (vocally)

Beyonce's more resonant up to F5. Mariah starts beating her at F#5 and up. Mariah has more ease and freedom (and resonance at times), but Beyonce is more consistent and has greater dynamic control.
Really good video and the notes are fair. The only thing that doesn't work for me is the different vowels, most Mariah's are O and A or very closed. Mariah in her prime had great ease, but not enough clarity as Beyoncé, her vowels always adds to the music instead of favoring sounding open and sacrificing vowels, but I can see that it's also a style, cause Mariah is from the 90s and Beyoncé from the 2000s.

Well Mariah inspired Beyoncé to sing so this is not fair. I’d say Beyoncè is good but she’s just not AS free in her upper belts as Mariah. Beyoncé also sounds like shes at the top of her range hitting anything about a E5 and you can tell there’s not as much embellishments or note changes. Also Mariah is more dynamic in her upper register she has more variation in color in that area than Beyoncé who sounds kind of the same

What is strange is that despite mariah being a soprano, to me her tone sounds more mature than beyonce. Like beyonce from like her debut to 2010 still sounded kind of like a teenager to me. Her voice was very light and youthful, but mariah sounded more like an adult.

1. The note comparison starts at C5, when Bey is a Mezzo, how is that fair. Of course Mariah is going to soar on these notes.
2. The recording styles are different. Most of Mariah's stuff are from the 90's which studios back then actually utilized the acoustics of the studio to boost sound, dont get me wrong Mariah has massive resonance but that aided as well, whereas most songs are compressed in the mid to late 00's.
These are just 2 things that should be taken into account if you are comparing them.
It doesn't really matter what you take into account when comparing Mariah to Beyonce... as talented as Beyonce is... she is simply no Mariah.

But Beyonce is such a beast, 1998 first record he was at her prime, then the next album better and better, it's been 24 years, and I only see improvements in her vocal performance. Mariah clearly has confidence issues, and I get ppl hit hard on her, with fake videos of her being pitchy, ppl that actually study music or naturally have good ear will tell when she goes pitchy the whole band also do, meaning the video was manipulated to make her sound bad.

Really good video and the notes are fair. The only thing that doesn't work for me is the different vowels, most Mariah's are O and A or very closed. Mariah in her prime had great ease, but not enough clarity as Beyoncé, her vowels always adds to the music instead of favoring sounding open and sacrificing vowels, but I can see that it's also a style, cause Mariah is from the 90s and Beyoncé from the 2000s.
