Gate guarding is using a device to check in and out oil trucks that are going to oil rigs. The environment can be really hot or really cold. Really dusty sometimes. Sometimes you’re required to be in a little out building. Sometimes you can be in your rv between trucks. You live in an rv (your own).

The rest of the time, you're doing what you would normally do in your RV. Also, it's not for everyone.

I truly could not get my head around that at any stage in my life. Absolutely contrary to the nomad or wanderlust life. Also, it’s not a bad idea to be on your feet for 12 hours a day. It is a problem in this lifestyle.
That’s not bad. Usually $500 a month to park an rv. When you get tired of the bs about safety that companies seem to wiggle out of when they need the job done, that looks like a good deal.
Thank you so much for sharing your video I just stumbled across this I am retired I have relocated from California to the west rim of Arizona. New Skywalk I've purchased property I am retired but I need to go back to work because of the High Cost of Living as we all know so any information I can get I'm looking into offsetting my income
I didn’t need a job but I found one that is so easy and fun and pays so well I had to do it. I sit around a table and listen to music while packing cannibus joints in desert hot springs, ca. I take home around $500/week plus outstanding health(vision and dental) insurance, bonuses, paid vacay etc. I work about 6.5-7 hours a day. HMU if you’re curious. Van on!
Yes, but you have to put up with 20 or so screaming kids that don't like you and take advantage of you just because they can for 7 HOURS. You can't go to the bathroom when you need to, and the little rats will be totally disrespectful for the entire 7 hours. (Guess where I work.)
Yeah I am very confused about the job description. I’m familiar with the campground host model where you are checking folks in and locking up at night. Is the 24/7 model for monitoring commercial properties? Can you at least camp on site to save on rent?
$175 a day? Are you crazy? That's $7.30 an hour? It doesn't matter how little work there is to do. You are there 24 hours a day. Who are you trying to convince this is a good thing? Us or yourself. People DO NOT do this job. Go to the next town and get a security guard job that pays minimum wage. This is insane.
@@M4K9G22 All you are required to do is pop in and out of your RV or a guard shack and log traffic in and out of the rig site of an oil rig operation. Snap a photo (using a company-supplied i-Pad) of the vehicle plate, payload and get driver's name and company they're with. EZ work.
Anything that ends up on RUclips that is good, always gets ruined. I've seen it, it's not just opinion. Now this video with 182k views in one year, will throw a flood of labor into that market, and you know the rule for supply and demand, right?
how are you supposed to live on $175 a daythat's only minimum wage and then living in RV can be more expensive than living in a housesounds like a quick recipe for becoming homeless real quick
I started taking early retirement SS last October. I am not subject to the monthly average, per se, for 2023, just aggregate total of $21,240(1770 times 12). Therefore, I can work several months, not the whole year, to reach my limit.
Hurt on the Job spinal injury...i dont get anything near that a month..knowing we can get SS or SSDI in almost any country i moved as my disabilities would make it impossible to live in a car and rent in Seattle was nearly double my monthly income for a studio apartment...now my monthly bills are just below or at 1k a month...i have 2 homes a 3 bed 2 bath house in a gated community and a vacation condo..i see my doc once a month a specialist(would cost me about 300 an office visit here 24 dollars) my son goes to a private catholic school...i eat out 1-2x a week..and that also includes power water internet grocery my meds vitamins HOA for 2 homes...everything
@@The.Philippines.Joe. I am very curious as to what country you moved to that your SSDI is able to go so far? A lot of 3rd world countries would likely be quite cheap, but harsher living, which doesn't sound like what you've found. Where did you move to? Thanks. :)
so 175 a day for 2 people in 24 hours working, thats 3.64 an hour a person. you got to be kidding me. yeah the money is damm good, lol, have people forgotten how to operate a calculator.
I don't think that it's fair to say that it's $3.64 an hour per person since only one person is working at any time. In any 24-hour time period the couple does 24 person-hours of work for the employer, and the employer pays $175 for that work. So that works out to $175/24 = $7.29 for every person-hour of work.

Oil well drill sites out in west Texas and southeastern New Mexico. Don’t have any company names though.
Google has lots of them.
That’s not bad. Usually $500 a month to park an rv. When you get tired of the bs about safety that companies seem to wiggle out of when they need the job done, that looks like a good deal.
#Grateful 🙏 love you guys, thank you, #mahalo
Good information
I love Bill and Darla❤
Thank you!
Van on!
im certainly interested to be more educated on this if you could share please . thanks
You interviewed Vanessa with Vans vans. She hasn't posted since 2021. Does anyone know what happened to her??
Vans van travels. The lady with the recliner in her van.
I've worked private security for 34 years
good idea
🎉❤🎉🎉🎉😊 great stuff right here 👏
When one is off for 24hr arrangement there is only 1 vehicle. Don't you need transport?
Is that your long lost twin
No !!
The gate work sounds Great but 24 /7 is a lotta hours when do u have any downtime together
After a rig has closed or the crew moves to another location.
Bob, I am a disabled nurse (LPN). Do you know of any work I could do on the road? I know some about computers but not alot.
Substitute teacher pays more for less hours per day
Harder work though🤷♀️
Yes, but you have to put up with 20 or so screaming kids that don't like you and take advantage of you just because they can for 7 HOURS. You can't go to the bathroom when you need to, and the little rats will be totally disrespectful for the entire 7 hours. (Guess where I work.)
Do you get to rotate sites? e.g. 3 months here, 3 months there, etc, so you can get to know different parts of the country.
You can request a change up.
$175 for 24 for hours is like $7.3 per hour…
It's not for everyone.
🙂👍 Thank you.
What kind of gate are you guarding?
Yeah I am very confused about the job description. I’m familiar with the campground host model where you are checking folks in and locking up at night. Is the 24/7 model for monitoring commercial properties? Can you at least camp on site to save on rent?
Checking traffic in and out usually on a private ranch for oil workers on a drilling operation.
Bob your hair and beard look good
How do you get any deductions gate guarding. No expenses
You would need to talk to your tax person but you should be able to deduct a portion of your RV as you use it for a small office while on site.
I’ve never heard of gate guarding before.
Me neither. I wish they went into more detail about what you're actually doing in the job.
@@M4K9G22 All you are required to do is pop in and out of your RV or a guard shack and log traffic in and out of the rig site of an oil rig operation. Snap a photo (using a company-supplied i-Pad) of the vehicle plate, payload and get driver's name and company they're with. EZ work.
Why is it nobody can tell me how to get a physical address?
I saw a video on this channel where Bob talks about easy states. Very informative. Look for it
A RV is not meant for long term they fall apart.
That is rather restrictive, kinda chains you to the job.
Anything that ends up on RUclips that is good, always gets ruined. I've seen it, it's not just opinion. Now this video with 182k views in one year, will throw a flood of labor into that market, and you know the rule for supply and demand, right?
More than enough money for me.
Boss: You're doing a gate job man....
Just tell me how to get a physical address somebody anybody.
how are you supposed to live on $175 a daythat's only minimum wage and then living in RV can be more expensive than living in a housesounds like a quick recipe for becoming homeless real quick
You can earn $1770 per month if you take early SSI. $4710 if you wait to full retirement age.
SSI is supplemental security income. It is not related to SS retirement. You can receive SSI at any age. Totally different program.
I started taking early retirement SS last October. I am not subject to the monthly average, per se, for 2023, just aggregate total of $21,240(1770 times 12). Therefore, I can work several months, not the whole year, to reach my limit.
James Rodriguez the limit usually goes up every year. It was $19,560 in 2022. In 2023, it was raised to $21,140.
Loner jobs lol
