      It varies depending on what we are filming. For these Spanish mackerel in August time you need to be on the bottom as these large are traveling. They are making there way back from the annual sardine run. So basically I was diving about 15 seconds before Rob Alen. Then would film him coming down on the flasher and waiting. If a fish came i would obviously film him shooting it. I would say I was doing dives between 1 min:40 and 2min.
      On this trip we dived for 4 days and Rob shot 4 Spanish Mackerel. I did 152 dives with him to film those 4 fish.

    What RA blades/fins are you guys wearing? we've just had the Torsion Plus released in New Zealand but when I was living in SA i thought they only did the Scorpias.

      Hi Ryan. Rob Allen makes their own carbon blades now. They have spent some time developing them and are excellent blades.I would highly recommend them. Then just decide what foot pockets you want to put them in depending on your weight. I use the pathos foot pockets and find them excellent and light.Also have a look at the Mares Razor foot pockets

      Thanks for that. Do you know how many variations they have in blades? I don’t see any on the dive factory website

    • @AfricanSpearfishingDiaries
      @AfricanSpearfishingDiaries  4 года назад

      I believer there are 7 variations. Speak to a David Du Pavilion at splash spearfishing. @daviedupav

    Why don't you guys use scuba tanks

    • @AfricanSpearfishingDiaries
      @AfricanSpearfishingDiaries  2 года назад

      Hi there. In many places using scuba tanks and Spearfishing is illegal. Personally I prefer the sport when you are freediving. I think it makes it more of a challenge. Some fish also would be difficult to shoot with scuba because of the noise of the bubbles. Also scuba comes with its own difficulties due to the clumsiness of the gear and restrictions in dive times and depths. As far as I am concerned as long as you stick to local fish regulations and rules you can spearfish they way you want to. I believe freediving is the purest way to practise the sport.

    This is one of the reason why we need to protect our mother earth from global warming, without plankton for these gentle giants to eat they would starve to death, and no more shooting Coutas under whale-sharks lol
