      @ my friend the war had nothing io do with slavery until Lincoln needed more support from the abolishonists and made it an issue 2 years into the war in 1863. He was afraid of losing the election in 1864 and the northern people were getting sick of losing their husbands, sons and other family members. Racism is something that is being fueled by the deep state and is meant to divide our nation. Please don’t fall for it. If this country is to survive much longer we need to follow biblical principles and quit trying to pin labels on our countrymen. Have a blessed day!

    I used to make fun because im German American. 1/4th the Union Army was ethnically German, we did not fight for the South. I love being a northerner and a midwesterner, but recently I came across a quote from Lee;
    "the consolidation of the states into one vast republic, sure to be aggressive abroad and despotic at home, will be the certain precursor of that ruin which has overwhelmed all those that have preceded it."
    No wonder the freemasons in power want those monuments torn down.

      Danke shoen! This user has ancestors on both sides of the unfortunate War between the States/War of Northern Aggression, for different reasons, none of which involved slavery. Contrary to the N W O's narratives, that was never the primary, let alone singular, cause of the conflict. The original American ancestor of this user's came over from Germany as an indentured servant and his...son...iirc...allegedly, became a bodyguard of GeorgeWashington himself. One ancestor fought for the Union from a group that seems to have been erased or otherwise forgotten from history (and finding out more about it and who owns a plot of land up north in Pennsylvania is driving muh old man crazy), but was forced to do so, because he couldn't afford to pay the fine associated with not being drafted. Another side that same family fought out of Arkansas, but again, didn't own slaves and fought for decentralization. It's funny, because in another Confederate song, there's a line about defeating "that mercenary Yankee horde"! It WAS a mercenary horde, because they had to forcefully conscript/draft soldiers into "service", not even from America! Thanks for sharing the great quote from Gen.RobertELee, who PRAYED with a Negroid-man when they wouldn't give him communion at church!

    • @Jonathan_AnCapistani
      @Jonathan_AnCapistani Месяц назад +1

      @@813kksnaa Yeah, but the point here was/is, the South can -- contrary to mainstream/lamestream public schooling -- be construed more so as "the babyfaces" to the North's "heels", as opposed to their teachings to the contrary, which tend to try and frame the South as racists with the chief motivator behind the conflict being slavery, which simply does not do the conflict, nor history as a whole, justice. Therefore, many southerners would not have even needed to be drafted in the first place and were all to giddy to take on their oppressors, as portrayed in "Gone with the Wind". The North did have a more "mercenary horde" feel to their army, because they tried grabbing whoever they could from almost everywhere, from Ireland to Russia, whereas those in the South relied, primarily, upon their own southern men, as they did not get any real assistance from Britain nor France, thus, the line in the song is apt.

    • @813kksnaa
      @813kksnaa Месяц назад +1

      @@Jonathan_AnCapistani This is because the North was industrious, and had land conditions familiar to immigrants from Northern Europe. It is expected the north would have a larger foreign born population lol. Immigration to the south was low in comparison, largely because the farming conditions were more suitable to cash crops and chattle slavery, something foreign to the Irish and German immigrants who landed in the mid-19th century. This is reflective in today, where the south's white ancestry is homogenously British protestant whereas the north is much more heterogenous with Irish and German ancestry.
      As to your point about British support in the war, the confederacy received help in exchange for a reliable source of cotton from 1861-1863.
      If southerners wouldn't have had to be drafted, how come draft orders came as quickly as 1862? The reality is that both sides of the war quickly suffered from enlistment crises and instituted draft orders as people realized it wasn't some gallant affair of nobleness to go die in a foreign state.

    • @Jonathan_AnCapistani
      @Jonathan_AnCapistani Месяц назад

      @@813kksnaa The south wasn't without German and Irish immigrants either, as many proto-moonshiners that settled Appalachia were of Scotch-Irish descent, and that's where much of the so-called "Confederate flag" (rebel battle flag, it was never a political flag, only parts of it may have been used in some political flags, but not entirely) symbolizes southern pride, namely, as a juxtaposition of the St. George/"English" flag colors with the Scottish flag design, and the stars to indicate the original -- southern in-comparison to England -- colonies from England) and many a "diddy" came from Scotch-Irish songs -- hence, modern "bluegrass" music that "Hank Hill" and company would sing at festivals in an episode of "King of the Hill" -- Maryland, if considered "southern" had at least one major "Germantown", hence it's weird mash-up flag, and so did the northeast, such as in Pennsylvania, where this user has family history in, but Tennessee also had a "Germantown" outside Memphis -- but yes, this user gets yr point and doesn't want to seem combative on that end. As far as religions go, the Irish/Catholic variation of Christianity was, yes, more northern than southern, but not by a wide-margin, as Catholics were, and are, still a minority in-comparison, even in the north, now and then, as this user's parents grew up in northeast Pennsylvania and there was nary more than one Catholic church and Hispanic family in their neck-of-the-woods growing up, as compared to the major religion of Boston, MA. And yes, on both sides, mind, people realized war was painful, because families would, early on, go to picnic outside the field of battle on a hill and eat and drink as the boys shot each other to death.
