FYI, cording and piping feet can be different. You need to make sure your serger foot has a groove on the bottom. So the tricky part is figuring out which foot has that GROOVE. I have a Juki MO-734-DE and the cording foot doesn't have that groove going all the way on the bottom; only on the back portion of the foot- meaning it won't feed the zipper correctly. So I will need to see if the piping foot has that groove. Be aware!

Just like going over speed bumps when you are driving you will want to slow your speed when serging across the zipper teeth, Serger thread is 2 ply and not as strong as regular sewing thread. Be sure you are using quality thread and that it is not too old, thread that has been around too long becomes brittle. Change your needles too, serging over a zipper can dull them. Hope this helps, best regards,

Did you ever do a tutorial on the passport wallet you show at the end of this video? I have the pattern and was curious to see the extra pockets added

Not sure if you are meaning the Imagine Serger? You can certainly do this with any Baby Lock Serger and the cording foot that fits it!

Do you need a special zipper foot for that?

Very helpful but was this limited to a specific type of zipper?

after i install the zipper and i try to sew the bottom and top to the backing of a pillow, i struggle with gettnig the zipper through. it will often become unthreaded. Do you have any suggestions?
